But, After the awakening of the nationalism after the Kongres of Berlin, Serbs tried to exterminate all of the Albanians and other non Serbs In Kosova, South Serbia and Macedonia. Anyone can move from any country to another (except for North Koreans, but they're extreme). Albanians have moved to Kosovo from Albania after WW2, and that is a known fact. Obradovic and his book have nothing to do with the fact that Serbs have always lived in Kosovo, so they are thus neither colonisers nor occupators. Albanians never had rights to autonomy to begin with, and why would they receive them after helping the Nazis in WW2 and driving out Serbs from Kosovo?
Good example about N. Korea. Albania was almost in the same situation sins 1945 till the comunism felt. During the WWII you had partisans (comunists) who fought against the nazi's and you had Cetniks (Serbs) and Ustasa (Kroats) who fought on the nazi's side. I have to remind you also that the Serbia was the very first place which was proclaimed as "Judenfrei". So judg for yourself about who helped the nazi's: Albanians or Serbs.
The Cetniks did not help the Nazis. They did help them only against the Partizans, nothing more. And Serbia was proclaimed Judenfrei because the Ustasas were very effective at killing Jews AND Serbs (1,200,000 Serb civilians killed, not to mention all of the othe fighters). Albanians were also killing Serbs in Kosovo, and drove out most of the others with the help of the Italians. Kosovo was then declared part of Albania, and that's that. And, yeah, Italians were Nazis too, just so we're clear.
Yes the half of Kosova was under the Italian occupation and the other half under the Germans. It's true that it was very difficult for Serbs at that time but also for Albanians. Albanians felt free under the Germans after the cruelty of kingdom of Srbs-Croats-Slovens till 1941. Nobody is denieing that Serbs haven't been killed also, but the deniening of Albanian golgota and fairy tales about Albanians as imigrants from Albania are going to far.

Turns out he's one of those historians who primarily blame Serbs for everything that has happened during the 90's. We weren't their vasals. There was ethnic cleansing, because the whole of Serbia was forced to move north from our original homeland (with its center in Kosovo). During the Ottomans, there were no Albanians and Macedonians. Bosnia, Serbia, Greece and Bulgaria have always existed.
The only reason Kosovo was given more rights was due to pressure coming from the Albanian population. Because he did not want any nationalism to escalate, Tito appeased the Albanians by giving them what they want. As you know, France and Britain did the same to Hitler when he asked for parts of Cz-Slovakia in 1938, and ended up starting a war. Appeasment never works, because they always want more than they receive. In the end, Kosovo wanted independence, and that HAD to be shut down...

Albanians (the most of them) converted very late into Islam, some by force and some to avoid the high taxes. Even today some Albanians in Kosova are seen as muslims but at home they pray as Christians! They never forget their ancestors religion. For your information the most of Albanians in Kosova were Orthodox (sins the rule of Car Dusan) when the ottomans siezed the region!!

I know this as a fact (except for them being secretly Christian). But they did not convert so late...the two major conversions in which large numbers of the Albanian population were converted to Islam were in the 15th and 17th century. By that time, there was only a small number of Christian Albs. vs. Muslim Albs. as for us Serbs, we were always Christian Orthodox, and never denied that, which is why the Ottoman Jannisarries were mostly made up of Serbs (chrisitan boys stolen as infants).

Also, if you actually look at the list, you will see that most of the leaders of the communist party of Kosovo after WW2 were in fact Albanian. The Serbs who were leaders were in position at the time when Kosovo still did not gain full autonomous rights, after which Albanians came in and demanded more and more rights. Go on google and find a list, and you'll see what I mean...

Chmarina - It is a known fact that not a single Albanian could move into Kosova after WWII from Albania. many families were separated after the war when Albania closed their border hermeticly. But a lot of Albanians moved into Kosova and toward Turkey during the Rankovic era and the cruelty of the serbs in South Serbia. I don't have to google about Kosova because I'm from there. I am an living witness of what Serbs did to Albanians sins 1981 till 1999.

Have you been a witness after WW2? Plus, many of the Albanians didnt even have to move, since they were already there in a large number. And you can always move, no matter how hermetically closed a country is, as long as the country you're moving into accepts you. I'm not denying any of the cruelty commited by Serbs during the 90's, but you also have to agree that the crimes commited by the UCK and other Albanians before and after 1999 are undenyable...

chmarina - as you said: Albanians already were there in kosova after WWII in large numbers as they always have been, so they didn't move from anywhere. During the 80's and 90's many Serbs and also others moved toward North in Vojvodina because of better life conditions. When Milosevis came in power this movement was used for their nationalistic goals and the histerical mania of organising mitings began. Albanians were seen as kontrarevolutionars at that time and very discrimanted.

Masses of Albanians couldn't move from an hermetic closed comunist country like Albania. Even birds were observed there.
Read one of my previous posts about M. Obradovic and his boek about Agrarian Reforms. Then we will talk who moved into Kosova, Albanians or Serbs. Serbs are nown as colonisators of Kosova and ocupators. So, how can it be the other way around. 1974 was already to late to give the Albanians rights which they had to be given wright after the colonisation in 1912.

Anyone can move from any country to another (except for North Koreans, but they're extreme). Albanians have moved to Kosovo from Albania after WW2, and that is a known fact. Obradovic and his book have nothing to do with the fact that Serbs have always lived in Kosovo, so they are thus neither colonisers nor occupators. Albanians never had rights to autonomy to begin with, and why would they receive them after helping the Nazis in WW2 and driving out Serbs from Kosovo?

Good example about N. Korea. Albania was almost in the same situation sins 1945 till the comunism felt. During the WWII you had partisans (comunists) who fought against the nazi's and you had Cetniks (Serbs) and Ustasa (Kroats) who fought on the nazi's side. I have to remind you also that the Serbia was the very first place which was proclaimed as "Judenfrei". So judg for yourself about who helped the nazi's: Albanians or Serbs.

The Cetniks did not help the Nazis. They did help them only against the Partizans, nothing more. And Serbia was proclaimed Judenfrei because the Ustasas were very effective at killing Jews AND Serbs (1,200,000 Serb civilians killed, not to mention all of the othe fighters). Albanians were also killing Serbs in Kosovo, and drove out most of the others with the help of the Italians. Kosovo was then declared part of Albania, and that's that. And, yeah, Italians were Nazis too, just so we're clear.

Yes the half of Kosova was under the Italian occupation and the other half under the Germans. It's true that it was very difficult for Serbs at that time but also for Albanians. Albanians felt free under the Germans after the cruelty of kingdom of Srbs-Croats-Slovens till 1941. Nobody is denieing that Serbs haven't been killed also, but the deniening of Albanian golgota and fairy tales about Albanians as imigrants from Albania are going to far.

These are not fairy tales...these are true facts...btw, I did a little research on that Norman Cigar guy. Turns out he's one of those historians who primarily blame Serbs for everything that has happened during the 90's. Therefore, I automatically disregard anything he says as true, because it is obviously biased. I did not say that Serbs do not hold part of the guilt for everything, but the fact is that everyone had an equal role in the complete disintegration of SFRY...even UCK and Albanians.

For the discrimination during the 90's, yes. But I still regard the Tito Era as the best years for Yugoslavia and the Balkans as a whole. Our economy was prosperous, we all called each other brothers, we could travel with the SFRY passport anywhere in the world without a visa...ah good times....

And this wasn't the first time. I already mentioned the earlier ethnic cleansing committed by Serbs following the Nacertanija of Garasanin and Memorandum of Cubrilovic. If you want to now more about it, I recomand you to read "The Agrarian Reforms" bu M. Obradovic. He described all Serbian colonists in Kosova by name, surname, birthplace,... They colonised Kosova and the region of Toplica till Nis after it has been cleansed by Serbian forces.

I am well aware of what happened during the time of Garasanin (I have to know at least a little bit about a man whose name is identical to the street name where I used to live ^^). But what you fail to mention is the ethnic cleansing of Serbs under the Ottoman Empire. Do you think we just randomly chose Kosovo as a place for 'colonisation,' as you put it? Is nothing wrong to have feelings about kosova as you have. Serbs have also their rights to live in Kosova and nobody is denieing it. But the myths about Kosova are juist myths and used by Serb politicians. We weren't their vasals. Granted, there were some Serb nobles who did help them out, and even Stefan Lazarevic, prince of Serbia, helped them against the Hungarians in the 15th century, but everything else was just pure slavery. There was ethnic cleansing, because the whole of Serbia was forced to move north from our original homeland (with its center in Kosovo). During the Ottomans, there were no Albanians and Macedonians. Bosnia, Serbia, Greece and Bulgaria have always existed.

The only reason Kosovo was given more rights was due to pressure coming from the Albanian population. Because he did not want any nationalism to escalate, Tito appeased the Albanians by giving them what they want. As you know, France and Britain did the same to Hitler when he asked for parts of Cz-Slovakia in 1938, and ended up starting a war. Nobody can scientifically establish or prove that Albanians come from the ancient Illyrian people. Some historians claim that Albanians descended from the Dacians or Thracians. Besides, that's ANCIENT history. If everyone had claim to a land based upon their status in ancient history, Italy might as well claim the whole Mediteranean coast as their, due to the size of the ancient Roman Empire. We Serbs have Medieval as well as modern claims, Albanians do not. End of discussion.
