  • Thankyou Nancy! Will have a look at soap calc. Failing that I will just order from you :-p

  • @kateymateymusic1 Now there's a thought!

  • Nancy, do you know if I can rebatch soap made out of baby soap bars? I am wanting a good, gentle soap for my impending bump and want to try a very easy project for my first soap making experiment!! Either that can you give me the heads up on an easy, gentle nice smelling soap recipe? Ps I have a slow cooker- might buy a new one for food tho :-)

  • @kateymateymusic1 Try it, it might work. Go to soapcalc com and put in olive oil 100%, then put in how many pounds you want. Click calculate and it will tell you how much of everything you need. Your own recipe.

  • I have a question, can you re batch soap made from melt and pour base?

  • @nicolemaryam I know nothing about melt and pour. Sorry.

  • WOW...lol is there a dotor in town ...lol

  • Lye is water soluble, so washes off your skin. If you want, you can just put vinegar on it to neutralize it. I have tough skin, so it doesn't hurt. I NEVER breath it or get it in my eyes, however! NEVER!

  • Oh my goodness... Is this real or a joke?

  • Did you add some water to the cut soap first?

  • No, I never add water. It will just have to eventually evaporate from the finished soap.

    I only add oil.

  • Why do you add the oil to get rid of the smell of amonia??

  • I figured the ammonia smell was really from the lye being too strong. So I added oil to help saponify it away.

  • I now don't think it was ammonia. I think it was the combination of fragrances I added. I guess I don't like that kind!
