Millions of years ago, this place was an acean, then the planet twisted and the water was cut and the salt remained as sediment, the salt is 8 feet deep. The value in this site is not even the landscape or salt but the lethium deposits. Uyuni accounts for 60% of the world's lithium to manufacture batteries for cars, cell phones and computers/tablets.
