@gmchihuahua You can talk to Lucas as Flint in Chapter 1 and as Duster in Chapter 2 before Lucas becomes the main character in Chapter 3, so he's not as silent as, say, Link.

@Gamechamp3000 No he's Red from the first games. His design is based off of Red's design from the remakes, FireRed and LeafGreen. They just call him Pokemon Trainer, but it's obviously Red.

@jman0955 Actually, I think I heard before that Pikachu is the reason PT is even involved with Subspace. Think about it:

PT is based on Red, Red's signature Pokemon, as seen in the Johto games, is a Pikachu. An absurdly powerful Pikachu, level 88.

The Pikachu in Brawl is absurdly powerful, it did freakish damage to Ridley.

The Subspace Army kidnapped Pikachu and Red wants him back.

In a way, though, I guess it's kind of charming about the SSB series in that, though most characters from two dimensions were converted to three dimensions, they retain their original style. It is a bit jarring, though, for some characters. The Starfox characters might fit into their final smash, the Landmaster, but does it ever fit the actual stage? XD Corneria + Landmaster = nonsensical.
