I really like this idea. Before I saw it, I thought about something like this. I've seen ones in which the light only turns to red if the button gets pushed otherwise it remains green, and I didn't like the waste of energy on green. The crosswalk signal can also be the same. This is pretty cool and should be everywhere where there's a crosswalk. I've only seen these on the internet, though.
That looks like one scary intersection.

it appears to just turn red, as opposed to going from green to red and then back to green? does this create confusion, and danger for pedestrians?
