if the referee did not stop this fight,Chuvalo will not be knockdown but sure he will die of brain hemorrhage due to continous hard blow to his head!good job by the referee!
Chuvalo's defense is so underrated. he wasn't a slugger, he was an intelligent fighter. Look at him he wonderfully slips the hard jab of foreman and comes inside with uppercuts.
Chuvalo had both chin and defense indeed. He blocks most of George's punches in the corner. Too bad the ref stopped the fight, I would have liked to see the fight go on.
@MrRoyalFatness There was 2 minutes left in the round are you kidding, he would have been killed. Foreman broke his nose so bad he was spitting the blood out of his mouth.
@MrRoyalFatness When a guy is literally balled up in a corner after an entire round of not landing one punch getting savaged and spitting out blood that is about when you need to stop it.
@MrRoyalFatness He would have had to have lasted for at least 4 more rounds of savage beating before Foreman would be tired enough to make a comeback, Chuvalo didn't seem to know what to do with Foreman this entire fight.
@botato2 Foreman has said in many interviews that he was so exhausted when the fight was stopped. Chuvalo got hit with one good punch that drove him into the ropes and the rest of the punches were blocked. Chuvalo is more of a long-distance fighter too. I think the fight was stopped a bit early. Would have been interesting to see it continue.
@atmoi666 Foreman didn't do any more punching here than any other fight, he may have been tired but he still had 4 solid rounds left. The only reason he only made 8 with Ali is because Ali was punching him back, this was just a massacre, hardly a glove on him. Shit if this is all Foreman could have gone he never would have been a professional.
@botato2 I'm only going by what Foreman himself has stated in interviews. Also, Chuvalo's nose, ironically, was never broken in a boxing match. He broke it once playing football as a teenager. His nose may have been bleeding or he had a cut lip or something. Apparently he was spitting blood here. It's a fight, though, it happens.
@atmoi666 "Foreman, regarded as one of the hardest hitters in boxing history, mauled Chuvalo with a wicked jab and some truly thunderous big punches breaking Chuvalo's nose. Yet, in his typical display of toughness, when the referee stopped the fight in the third round, Chuvalo said to him, "What are you, nuts?".
@atmoi666 Went longer and harder than this with Ron Lyle and that was them both laying into each other the entire time, no reason he should be any more tired here.
@atmoi666 He had already completely busted Chuvalo's nose, he would have been sucking down blood the rest of the fight, trouble breathing, would have been a incredibly slim chance Chuvalo lasted much longer even being the badass he was.
@MrRoyalFatness He would have had to have lasted for at least 4 more rounds of savage beating before Foreman would be tired enough to make a comeback, Chuvalo didn't seem to know what to do with Foreman this entire fight.

I really respect Chuvalo, he took on the best fighters in the world and often on short notice. He fought Muhammed Ali on just a few weeks notice, never ducking, never complaining. Too often forgotten forgotten these kind of fighters
Chuvalo took a fight 11 days after losing this one...it was to a relative tomato can named Mike Bruce, but still...Chuvalo was a badass. After 1965, he never lost to a name a casual boxing fan wouldn't recognize, and only two men ever stopped him (neither by true KO) - Frazier and Foreman.
He went the distance with a lot of tough fighters taking a lot of their hardest shots and you'd never know it to look at him today. Very eloquent, intelligent guy.
I have to confess...what little I know of him comes from watching his old fights and old/recent interviews on YouTube and from his interview in Facing Ali documentary that came out a few years ago. I was really impressed by how well-spoken he was (granted, next to Holmes and Spinks and even Frazier, not esp. hard to sound that way). Seriously though, his demeanor and photographic memory when it comes to boxing are very impressive. Boxing could use more it, esp. today.

@veeseee128 he got knocked down 3 or 4 times? you idiot. he was never knocked down in 97 fights. what are you talking about? and by the way, Rocky is partly based on Chuvalo. check his biography on the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame website. Even tho you're just a disrespectful black guy who likes to hate on white people, it's still neat that you made that connection.
@atmoi666 I know I get it? you like fihgters that get their ass kick? right? no,no,no,, you and chavlalo were once buddies right? no,no,no,no you like fighters who have lost over 20 plus fights? hehehehehhahaha.................
@veeseee128 Actually, I don't pick and choose what fighters I like based upon their record. Marciano and Mayweather are both undefeated but I'm not fans of them. I like fighters for certain characteristics: Hearns for punching power, Tyson for elusiveness, Chuvalo for toughness and durability, Ali and Leonard for speed, Pacquiao for relentlessness, Jones for showmanship, etc. None of these fighters were complete packages like Sugar Ray Robinson was. BTW none of these lost over 20 fights

When you consider the number of clean shots landed, whether or not they were of quite the same murderous power that accounted for Norton and Frazier, you have to acknowledge the awesome and legendary toughness of George Chuvalo.
not many humans could stand up to a 21 year old George foreman flogging like that, and not go down.im amazed.Forman called him the most durable guy he ever fought, and this demonstrates why.George is the only non champion that ever beat quarry.Great top 10 contender for a long time.he fought all of the great ones, dodged NOBODY.courage.
it always irks me when people go around talking up their favorite fighter based on how tough he was, saying things like "oh, he's never been down in his career! never been knocked out!"
right. chuvalo was doing just fine here, not at all about to have his head taken clean off or anything. and yea, lamotta was just dandy in the 13th against sugar ray. they probably just stopped the fight because it was getting late. give me a fucking break, geez. your boy got knocked the fuck out.
@Robstailey hey hot shot guess what??SOMEBODYS GOTTA LOSE,and often fans were hoping the guy that lost would have won.does it "irk"you?whats wrong with fans talkin up their favorite fighter?THATS WHAT WE DO,WE'RE FANS,does it irk you?
@Robstailey The most complete fighter (as in, having all of the right qualities for fighting) is Sugar Ray Robinson. He is a rare exception. Then there are other fighters who have some but not all the qualities: Ali has speed, Foreman has power, Chuvalo has durability & stamina. I don't get why it irks you if someone happens to admire that.
Foreman landed one shot and then Chuvalo blocked the rest on the ropes. Foreman gasses out early and thats why this stoppage is controversial.
@atmoi666 Are you George Chuvalo's lover? He wasn't even fighting back. I thought the fight should have been stopped at 2 minutes of the 1st round! Why they let a bum fight Big George at this stage I'll never know anyway.
@bangitslo Actually this was Foreman's toughest fight so far at this stage of his career. And Foreman was only 21, Chuvalo was 32. We didn't know that much about Foreman at the time but everyone figured a match up between him and Chuvalo would be interesting seeing as Chuvalo has legendary toughness and Foreman has legendary power.
@bangitslo I beg to differ. Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest fighter that ever lived. Ali said so himself. You have to remember "The Greatest" is a nickname he gave himself. He was pretty damn good, but not a power puncher and danced around too much in my opinion. Robinson was slicker and pretty much every boxing expert agrees.
@bangitslo How do you figure that Ali is better than Sugar Ray Robinson? I'm not contesting your view, I'm just wondering what you see in him that you don't see in Robinson?
@atmoi666 Ali was bigger than boxing, he is a global icon, his refusal to fight in Vietnam (no vietcong ever called me a nigger), his comeback after more than 3 years of inactivity... the first black heavyweight champion since Jack Johnson who spoke about black power and the need to be independent.
Ali triggered people to emancipate.. politically, financially, socially, religiously etc etc.
That's why he isn't just former boxing champ but The Greatest..
@BruceinFalkirk It just looks like Chuvalo got hit with one good bomb that threw him into the ropes and then Foreman threw a ton of punches but Chuvalo was blocking most/all of them while he was on the ropes. It looks bad because Foreman is really teeing off, I just think it should have gone on longer because there weren't enough landed punches there. In addition, Foreman gasses out easily and Chuvalo is durable and probably had saved some energy while on the ropes.
@kieser78 I agree as it was just a matter of time before Foreman decked Chuvalo in this fight. The two times Chuvalo came up against bona fide punchers in Frazier and Foreman he lost inside the distance albeit he finished on his feet but that is only because those two fights lasted 4 and 3 rounds lol.
Chuvalo didnt get hit much on the jaw. Mostly on the side of the head and forehead. He protected his chin very well. Not the worst defense, not the best.
I realize Chuvalo isn't Ali, but why didn't Foreman patiently stand up and throw jabs like this in the Rumble in the Jungle instead of trying to blast away at the rope a dope?
Hardest chin in history Chuvalo. Better boxer than people credit. His 2nd fight with Ali was actually close.
@zenmachinefilms He probably couldn't.. Ali was very fast on his feet, and very nasty in that fight. The fight was very close even before Foreman punched himself out, and that was with Ali hanging on the ropes. If Foreman would have been less aggressive and tried to box with Ali in the center of the ring he would have gotten outpointed pretty badly IMO.
@bangitslo Frazier vs Norton too. And Frazier vs Young. I don't think he was ducking guys though. He fought his way into the spotlight of the pro's after fighting his way to the top of the amateur circuit. Then he fought his way to the top of the pro's and had a lot of great fights along the way. He got the belt. He had a few more classic matches and he got out the game. The comeback in the eighties was probably just one last big check. Thats my perspective.
@bangitslo Oh, and don't forget Foreman vs Quarry! That fight REALLY should've happened, but Foreman's camp wanted nothing to do with Quarry after it was rumored the latter exposed Foreman badly in a sparring session. Shame, it would've been Quarry last legit chance at a well-deserved title shot...
George is Big and Strong. But Check out Frazier's fight against Chuvalo in 1967 - Joe almost killed him! Split his Cheek and Broke his eye socket. One of the worst beatings I've seen a fighter take in the ring.
@bangitslo I think thats the most vicious example of the type of fighter Jo Frazier could be. It was like watching a black wolverine from the x-men with boxing gloves on. Chuvalo's tougher than hell though. He didn't back up an inch in that fight. And even with all the damage he took, he still didn't even fall down. Great fight.
@bangitslo It wasn't a crazy beating. Chuvalo almost had Frazier down a couple of times. It was close until the fourth but Chuvalo's optic floor was injured from a headbutt during training. His manager told him to fight even though he said he should wait. So, yes, Frazier broke the optic floor (which is a common injury) but it wasn't entirely Frazier's doing.
@FijneWIET You are OBVIOUSLY NOT a boxing fan - that's good 'ol Don Dunphy! Sounds absolutely NOTHING like Cosell. Cosell is my man too. Those guys have legendary different and distinctive broadcast styles.
using the jab is a smart tactic for chuvalo. formans defensed againsed a jab is weak and it allows chuvallo to punch his way in closer so it was the best chance he had really lol
Never been knocked off his feet, my foot. He couldn't take it anymore from Big G and the referee was kind enough to save his record for him. So I think Chuvalo and Ref Artur McIntire were never knocked off their feet!
Tyson would have tested Foreman a lot. Not saying he would have beat him, but a 85-88 Tyson would have have Foreman a lot, wouldn't know who would have won.
It is about styles, your right. I could never understand why Foreman had to go all out in a frenzy from the first few rounds.Ali would usually play defensive in the first round at least, testimg or feeling his 'new' opponrent; and then start dancing as early as second round. An example of this is the Ali-Shavers fight.
@Donal111 Well, lets's put it this way. George came out of retirement in 1987 to fight Mike Tyson. Don King said: "NO WAY" MIke Tyson concurred. George begged for a fight in 1989 after Tyson beat Frank Bruno, again King and Tyson said No Way. So Mike had his chances - He knew he couldn't beat George!
Foreman seemed to have more boxing skills in this fight than he did against Ali; if he had fought this smart a fight and used his jab more he might have had a better chance.
Ali held his hands up much higher than Chuvalo and protected his head. Chuvalo's head was wide open for the left jab and Big George took advantage of that. Ali gave George no such opening.
The left hook and right hand that started the onslaught would have absolutely knocked down (and for many OUT) any heavyweight -- even Ali. Chuvalo's cranium must have been 3" thick.
Chuvalo's head must have been made of an alloy of doubly-reinforced iron and steel. Damn! That guy could take a punch! Too bad he didn't have any real finesse. If he had, he would have been unstoppable, I think.
The only bad thing about Foreman is his form. If Chuvalo had more speed, he could keep hitting Foremans right cheek...epsecially since his right hand is kept out and away from his face. Roy Jones is real bad in this department as well.
fight I suppose one could make the argument that: "THIS WAS THE CLOSEST
CHUVALO EVER CAME TO BEING KNOCKED DOWN." But the validation of that argument extends only up to the point of the fight BEING STOPPED by the ref. But the chances of Chuvalo being, not just nocked down but out, were very clear and overwhelming. Some one taking an ass whooping and not going down because the ref prevents it is not much of an argument to vauch for.
Have you seen Chualo's fight with Oscar Bonavena? Chuvalo hits the canvas twice I think (both ruled as slips) but some argue that at least one of the knockdowns was legit. Watching it though, it looks more like a push with Chuvalo off balance.
@pugilistofpower Im about to turn that one on now. That should be a great match. I don't know who won, because I didn't know they fought. But I've got my money on Chuvalo. They're both tough as hell with great KO power. But Chuvalo is more technical and composed.
@mutimir1 Do you seriously think any man who fights for a living can be called a coward?have you ever heard of a thing called DEFENSE!!!! Do you think courage is about allowing yourself to take punches??or that not allowing yourself to take punches means you're a coward?what dumb logic you have,Don't you know the basic principle of good boxing is to hit without being hit
chuvalo proving the best chin in human history,at any weight.taking those shots by the biggest puncher in history and still standing?? frazier was knocked down 6 times by these same shots chuvalo took on his feet.
every chin has a breaking point. give it a little more time and he would have gone down. you dont pour out blood without eventually losing it. but he did well to stay standing. frazier didnt even compare (i lost count of how many knock downs! lol)
I think if Foreman fought around the time he won the championship, he would have destroyed Chuvalo. He's still raw here and not as compact and precise in his attack. Also is a bit more clumsy compared to a bit later.
But Chuvalo is a cool guy.. he hosts a weekly radio show here in TO.
@at1212b Are you compensating with excuses for the fact that Chuvalo is 11 years older than Foreman. It is exactly your kind that always point out the older men that Marciano fought but want to overlook the age disparity when it concerns a brother being younger. Just because Marciano fought some older men does not mean that he could not have destroyed younger ones equally as handily. Something he proved in his pre-title days!
@fadethetrade, at 21 yrs old, foreman was still undeveloped and was his 1st or 2nd year as a pro. Just look at him, he looks like a shrimp compared to him in 1973-75. If chuvalo had fought him then, he would have been knocked off his feet nno question
@kingdarius1991 then dont write retarded comments about fights that never happened and never will happen and breed nothing but pointless arguments over who would win and who is better in a fight that never happened and never will happen. jeez common sense is rare these days
@Jibs66 your the retard, getting all worked up for no reason over a comment. Noone is here arguing but you, and your sensative ass, jeez brains are small these days
@kingdarius1991 dont post stupid comments and keyboard warriors like me wont call you out on it you fuck head. jeez brains are small these days. in its prime foremans brain would have kicked anyones brains ass of today! lulZ!
@Jibs66, wow dude, haha, just wow, u just, u r making urself look so foolish rite now its funny. "Keyboard warriors", supreme dude, what're you like 12, 13? haha

veeseee128 10 months ago
@veeseee128 he got knocked down 3 or 4 times? you idiot. he was never knocked down in 97 fights. what are you talking about? and by the way, Rocky is partly based on Chuvalo. check his biography on the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame website. Even tho you're just a disrespectful black guy who likes to hate on white people, it's still neat that you made that connection.

@atmoi666 I know I get it? you like fihgters that get their ass kick? right? no,no,no,, you and chavlalo were once buddies right? no,no,no,no you like fighters who have lost over 20 plus fights? hehehehehhahaha.................
veeseee128 10 months ago
@veeseee128 Actually, I don't pick and choose what fighters I like based upon their record. Marciano and Mayweather are both undefeated but I'm not fans of them. I like fighters for certain characteristics: Hearns for punching power, Tyson for elusiveness, Chuvalo for toughness and durability, Ali and Leonard for speed, Pacquiao for relentlessness, Jones for showmanship, etc. None of these fighters were complete packages like Sugar Ray Robinson was. BTW none of these lost over 20 fights

Well done to Chuvalo's manager.
His man was in trouble and, thanks to him, lived to fight another day.

When you consider the number of clean shots landed, whether or not they were of quite the same murderous power that accounted for Norton and Frazier, you have to acknowledge the awesome and legendary toughness of George Chuvalo.
madmax8903 1 year ago
George Chuvalo was not a chump but he wasn't at the level of George Foreman
FRSFreeStateNow 1 year ago
not many humans could stand up to a 21 year old George foreman flogging like that, and not go down.im amazed.Forman called him the most durable guy he ever fought, and this demonstrates why.George is the only non champion that ever beat quarry.Great top 10 contender for a long time.he fought all of the great ones, dodged NOBODY.courage.

it always irks me when people go around talking up their favorite fighter based on how tough he was, saying things like "oh, he's never been down in his career! never been knocked out!"
right. chuvalo was doing just fine here, not at all about to have his head taken clean off or anything. and yea, lamotta was just dandy in the 13th against sugar ray. they probably just stopped the fight because it was getting late. give me a fucking break, geez. your boy got knocked the fuck out.
Robstailey 1 year ago
@Robstailey hey hot shot guess what??SOMEBODYS GOTTA LOSE,and often fans were hoping the guy that lost would have won.does it "irk"you?whats wrong with fans talkin up their favorite fighter?THATS WHAT WE DO,WE'RE FANS,does it irk you?
dempsey981 1 year ago
@Robstailey The most complete fighter (as in, having all of the right qualities for fighting) is Sugar Ray Robinson. He is a rare exception. Then there are other fighters who have some but not all the qualities: Ali has speed, Foreman has power, Chuvalo has durability & stamina. I don't get why it irks you if someone happens to admire that.
Foreman landed one shot and then Chuvalo blocked the rest on the ropes. Foreman gasses out early and thats why this stoppage is controversial.
atmoi666 11 months ago
@atmoi666 Are you George Chuvalo's lover? He wasn't even fighting back. I thought the fight should have been stopped at 2 minutes of the 1st round! Why they let a bum fight Big George at this stage I'll never know anyway.
bangitslo 10 months ago
@bangitslo Actually this was Foreman's toughest fight so far at this stage of his career. And Foreman was only 21, Chuvalo was 32. We didn't know that much about Foreman at the time but everyone figured a match up between him and Chuvalo would be interesting seeing as Chuvalo has legendary toughness and Foreman has legendary power.
atmoi666 10 months ago
@atmoi666 Ali was the Greatest Fighter that EVER lived. EVER!!!
bangitslo 10 months ago
@bangitslo I beg to differ. Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest fighter that ever lived. Ali said so himself. You have to remember "The Greatest" is a nickname he gave himself. He was pretty damn good, but not a power puncher and danced around too much in my opinion. Robinson was slicker and pretty much every boxing expert agrees.
atmoi666 10 months ago
@atmoi666 Don't care what the "experts" say, Don't care what Ali says. The Greatest Fight of All Times is Muhammad Ali. Period.
bangitslo 10 months ago
@bangitslo How do you figure that Ali is better than Sugar Ray Robinson? I'm not contesting your view, I'm just wondering what you see in him that you don't see in Robinson?
atmoi666 10 months ago
@atmoi666 Ali was bigger than boxing, he is a global icon, his refusal to fight in Vietnam (no vietcong ever called me a nigger), his comeback after more than 3 years of inactivity... the first black heavyweight champion since Jack Johnson who spoke about black power and the need to be independent.
Ali triggered people to emancipate.. politically, financially, socially, religiously etc etc.
That's why he isn't just former boxing champ but The Greatest..
Bob Marley wasn't just a reggae singer
FijneWIET 10 months ago
@atmoi666
Given that Chuvalo's manager was screaming for it to be stopped, the stoppage can't really be controversial.
BruceinFalkirk 9 months ago
@BruceinFalkirk It just looks like Chuvalo got hit with one good bomb that threw him into the ropes and then Foreman threw a ton of punches but Chuvalo was blocking most/all of them while he was on the ropes. It looks bad because Foreman is really teeing off, I just think it should have gone on longer because there weren't enough landed punches there. In addition, Foreman gasses out easily and Chuvalo is durable and probably had saved some energy while on the ropes.
atmoi666 9 months ago
I say the ropes held Chuvalo up after that first big left in the last round
kieser78 1 year ago
@kieser78 I agree as it was just a matter of time before Foreman decked Chuvalo in this fight. The two times Chuvalo came up against bona fide punchers in Frazier and Foreman he lost inside the distance albeit he finished on his feet but that is only because those two fights lasted 4 and 3 rounds lol.
dave10172 1 year ago

nwo4lifedta316 1 year ago
I realize Chuvalo isn't Ali, but why didn't Foreman patiently stand up and throw jabs like this in the Rumble in the Jungle instead of trying to blast away at the rope a dope?
Hardest chin in history Chuvalo. Better boxer than people credit. His 2nd fight with Ali was actually close.

@zenmachinefilms
the fight against ali was a good set up
a polar bear of a man chuvalo vs the fast and classic up and coming ali
blackoil911 1 year ago
@zenmachinefilms He probably couldn't.. Ali was very fast on his feet, and very nasty in that fight. The fight was very close even before Foreman punched himself out, and that was with Ali hanging on the ropes. If Foreman would have been less aggressive and tried to box with Ali in the center of the ring he would have gotten outpointed pretty badly IMO.

Fights I would have love to have seen:
Frazier vs. Shavers
Foreman vs. Shavers
Frazier vs. Liston
Frazier vs. Patterson
Frazier vs. Lyle
Hmmm - I don't know Joe - seems you were ducking more than punches!
bangitslo 1 year ago
@bangitslo Frazier vs Norton too. And Frazier vs Young. I don't think he was ducking guys though. He fought his way into the spotlight of the pro's after fighting his way to the top of the amateur circuit. Then he fought his way to the top of the pro's and had a lot of great fights along the way. He got the belt. He had a few more classic matches and he got out the game. The comeback in the eighties was probably just one last big check. Thats my perspective.
ernhutch187 1 year ago
@bangitslo Oh, and don't forget Foreman vs Quarry! That fight REALLY should've happened, but Foreman's camp wanted nothing to do with Quarry after it was rumored the latter exposed Foreman badly in a sparring session. Shame, it would've been Quarry last legit chance at a well-deserved title shot...
PeekaPeep 1 year ago
Boxing Historian Bert Sugar(Ring Magazine) stated that the hardest
puncher ever in the history of the Heavyweight division, based on the
scope of his research and experience(over 60 yrs) was Earnie Shavers
though George Foreman might've been second!
AnnaAnnaYes 1 year ago
George is Big and Strong. But Check out Frazier's fight against Chuvalo in 1967 - Joe almost killed him! Split his Cheek and Broke his eye socket. One of the worst beatings I've seen a fighter take in the ring.
bangitslo 1 year ago
@bangitslo I think thats the most vicious example of the type of fighter Jo Frazier could be. It was like watching a black wolverine from the x-men with boxing gloves on. Chuvalo's tougher than hell though. He didn't back up an inch in that fight. And even with all the damage he took, he still didn't even fall down. Great fight.
ernhutch187 1 year ago
@bangitslo It wasn't a crazy beating. Chuvalo almost had Frazier down a couple of times. It was close until the fourth but Chuvalo's optic floor was injured from a headbutt during training. His manager told him to fight even though he said he should wait. So, yes, Frazier broke the optic floor (which is a common injury) but it wasn't entirely Frazier's doing.

Tyson would have tested Foreman a lot. Not saying he would have beat him, but a 85-88 Tyson would have have Foreman a lot, wouldn't know who would have won.
Donal111 1 year ago
Boxing is about styles. Tyson just had the wrong style for Foreman, it wouldn't go well for Tyson at all.
That says nothing about Tyson's value as a fighter in general, just a bad match for him.
periechontology 1 year ago
@periechontology
It is about styles, your right. I could never understand why Foreman had to go all out in a frenzy from the first few rounds.Ali would usually play defensive in the first round at least, testimg or feeling his 'new' opponrent; and then start dancing as early as second round. An example of this is the Ali-Shavers fight.
crawhip7 1 year ago
@Donal111 Well, lets's put it this way. George came out of retirement in 1987 to fight Mike Tyson. Don King said: "NO WAY" MIke Tyson concurred. George begged for a fight in 1989 after Tyson beat Frank Bruno, again King and Tyson said No Way. So Mike had his chances - He knew he couldn't beat George!

Foreman seemed to have more boxing skills in this fight than he did against Ali; if he had fought this smart a fight and used his jab more he might have had a better chance.
chomsky88 2 years ago 3
Ali held his hands up much higher than Chuvalo and protected his head. Chuvalo's head was wide open for the left jab and Big George took advantage of that. Ali gave George no such opening.

Chuvalo was a tough fighter, what is the point if you are getting your ass stomped!
AnnaAnnaYes 1 year ago
Chuvalo's head must have been made of an alloy of doubly-reinforced iron and steel. Damn! That guy could take a punch! Too bad he didn't have any real finesse. If he had, he would have been unstoppable, I think.
brewepau 2 years ago 3
The only bad thing about Foreman is his form. If Chuvalo had more speed, he could keep hitting Foremans right cheek...epsecially since his right hand is kept out and away from his face. Roy Jones is real bad in this department as well.
The91stallion 2 years ago
Well, yeah, if the ref comes in and stop the
fight I suppose one could make the argument that: "THIS WAS THE CLOSEST

I think if Foreman fought around the time he won the championship, he would have destroyed Chuvalo. He's still raw here and not as compact and precise in his attack. Also is a bit more clumsy compared to a bit later.
But Chuvalo is a cool guy.. he hosts a weekly radio show here in TO.
at1212b 2 years ago
@at1212b Are you compensating with excuses for the fact that Chuvalo is 11 years older than Foreman. It is exactly your kind that always point out the older men that Marciano fought but want to overlook the age disparity when it concerns a brother being younger. Just because Marciano fought some older men does not mean that he could not have destroyed younger ones equally as handily. Something he proved in his pre-title days!
MORCOPOLO0817 2 years ago
@fadethetrade good chin is not really a compliment,it just means your defense is shit..people always forget, boxing is also about DEFENSE!!
