I have adult delayed sleep phase syndrome, aka d.s.p.s I'm a twenty five year old who gets up at 11, 12 and sometimes 1 in the day. two kids, self employed, yet I'm successful. Don't ask me how. My wife is as bad as me, she was never like that before we lived together. She's a stay at home mom. I have set my life up to agree with my situation. But I long to be normal.
Indeed, having a sleep disorder is one of a major public health or issue concerning and affecting millions of individuals, families, and communities on a daily basis in the whole world, not just America. I agree with the talks of the interviewee, everyone seems to be so busy that everyone tends to be sleep depriving.
Fuck it all.. I'm nocturnal. Ever consider that maybe we're not all made to get up at 8 a.m and work a 9-5 my fucking ass. Take a look a nature you idiots. Other living things are nocturnal. And then you want to go and label someone with a sleeping disorder??? We're not meant to live in this high stressed over worked shitty society. I hate this fucking system. It's killing you. Your brain is being bombarded by constant stimuly (i think thats how its spelled) your mind is over stimulated. That's why when you go to bed and close your eyes your mind can't stop racing. It's because it's trying to catch up. Example: It's like driving a car going 100 mph & trying to come to a complete stop, park & turn your car off all at once.

I apologize if it came off as bullying, all I was trying to say was get your head out of your butt. You're in control of when, what, who, where, why, and how. Maybe try cleaning for 12 hours, take a break for 10 or 15 minutes, then clean for another 12 hours, then sleep for 2 hours, then do it all over again. You have to find what fits you as you know what you need
I don't think this video goes far enough to warn people about how dangerous continuous sleep deprivation can be. After a few days it can cause all the symptoms of a psychotic break. I know so because I've been there. People need to know this because the real danger lies in being misdiagnosed as mentally ill and being put on toxic drugs for the rest of your life. Fortunately I had read studies on sleep deprivation while majoring in psych, but I don't think the average person is aware.
@LindaKay1948 Sleep deprivation has been used for many years as a torture method to cause prisoners of war to break down and talk. The Lakota people required their young men to deprive themselves of sleep for days so that they would receive "dream visions" which were believed to show them direction in life. Their are a number of sleep studies, all well documented, that show the effects. You can read MY story on my channel.
I don't remember having a hard time going to bed at 10:00 when I was a teenager, but that was back in the '60s. These days young people not only do their homework on computers, but they stay up social networking and playing games til all hours. I wonder where you got your data on adolescents normal bedtime being about 1:00 AM. 'Doesn't sound right to me. (Not only did I go to bed at 10:00 PM nearly every night, but I wasn't tired in the morning, nor did I know any others who seemed to be.)
When I don't sleep for 24+ hours I start to mildly hallucinate. Pictures will warp, I'll see shadows moving out of the corner of my eye, i hear voices, demon faces will pop up every time i close my eyes, people in pictures will look like they're moving, etc. Am i sane?
somebody please help me, whats it called when your half asleep, when your mind is awake but your body is asleep and you cant move you know whats going on but you cant move at all..i get them every single day, please help i hate it... i used to get nightmares all the time when i was younger i was never able to slepp now its like that but instead of nightmares i get these paralyzing dreams
i had sleep paralysis when i was in my late teens through to my early 20s. nightmares would trigger it. i would wake up in a terrified state and the sense that someone was watching me was overwelming. it was difficult to breathe. it would pass after a minute or two, but it seemed longer. at the time i had no idea what was going on and i thought i was going crazy. i think that the fear sets off an overdose of adrenaline in the body causing the paralysis.
you might have sleep paralysis... its when your awake but your body is alseep and in the sleeping stage called REM. during this stage you usually dream and your body is paralyzed... so when your in this stage but your awake your body is still paralyzed... sleep paralysis
children (especially teenagers) need more sleep because your still growing. i heard somewhere that teenagers need at least 10 to 12 hours of sleep in order to not get tired during the day. babies have the same problem. it's taxing on the body having growth spirts. my daughter has it bad because she's 14 and she has epileptic seizures which are triggered by lack of sleep. if it weren't for her meds she would have a grandmal seizure at least once a month.

It is rediculous that public school is so early in the morning. I heard from one of my teachers that somebody showed scientifically that students learn best early in the morning. BULL SH**!
