I'm English and horrified by what the IRA did BUT if the British hadn't gone into Ireland in the first place none of these terrible things would have happened . The British have to accept that the IRA was their fault. And before they condemn the IRA atrocities maybe they should remember Bloody Sunday and other events of the kind.The British have plenty of blood on their hands,too. Its interesting how the plastic paddies in the USA were so into all this, politically backing and financing the Sinn Fein/IRA war on the other side of the Atlantic. I'm just saying as well as killing innocent civilians McGuinness killed young IRA members who were taken by British Intelligence - like as young as 16 - I think this was unjust because kids at this age were easily indoctrinated into the whole republican scene, then once he got the chance McGuinness decided to make a deal with the British Gov to get into power - that's what I was trying to point out.

@kargwain187 I don't know, a lot less though - I do know that rubber bullets caused fatalities and at times there were children killed by them, If you get hit in the chest or head by one of those you'd die instantly. At first the army were welcomed in nationalist areas - but why paratroopers were sent to supervise a peaceful demonstration on Bloody Sunday I have no idea - they were trained to kill, not to enforce the law- it was a mistake to send them in and the IRA got a lot of support from it.

And no I'm not defending them - the paratroopers were animals and were trained to kill - some carved their bullets so that they would do more explosive damage and pretty much blow of limbs, I just think Westminster made a huge mistake sending them in.

He gave a detailed account of IRA operations in Londonderry to the bloody sunday inquiry. Which is a pretty interesting historical document regarding the troubles.

Now Gerry Adams is another story. He always denies belonging to the IRA, despite most experts agreeing he rose to rank of chief of staff before going to prison.
