Good video. Only thing I would add is to make the template pointer code to the 'local' config.xml, which you will need to create yourself within;

app/code/local/Mage/Page/etc/c­onfig.xml

Then point your app/etc/modules/Mage_All.xml 'Mage_Page' to local.

This will let you update Magento without loosing the template pointer.
