look yeah early,real emo is this style,the names been bastardised.if ya like this outfit check out,bluetip,jawbox;burning airlines,dismemberment plan,favez,cave in,thrice last three albums,of course fugazi.just a few if ya havn't already come across them.

You're right about that. Now people think it's a clique or fad or fashion sense. It's sooooo frustrating knowing that kids nowadays don't know who Braid or Rainer Maria or Sunny Day Real Estate or I Hate Myself or Saetia or.....etc are. @Khayman8888 -- I'd have to politely disagree and point to the number of other great bands that had released stuff on Dischord over the years including Fugazi, Nation of Ulysses, Lungfish, Slant 6, Rites of Spring, and the very underrated Circus Lupus.

Wow. This is the "punkest" form of emo I've ever heard it that's the case. I am absolutely enthralled by these guys. I can't believe I missed out on them during the late 90's.

I'd say more early "dance-punk" than emo, mainly due to the lyrical content. The subject-matter in "emo" music tends to be pretty consistent, whereas Q And Not U was all over the place and tended to be more political/philosophical lyrically. These guys also incorporated a lot of dissonance into their songs where "emo" music generally favours harmonies and consonance. Not to mention the polyrythmic drumming which, though popular now and in 70's disco/funk/soul, was not used much after the 80's.

Definitely agree. Guess the sarcasm was a little under the radar on that one. But I appreciate the correction. Some local friends performed a cover of "Recreation Myth" during their one and only reunion show(The Kylie Factor) and it was probably the best experience of 09. For me that is.

its melodic and has a certain sound that could be compared to it. I mean.. they were on the dischord label, which I believe Fugazi and rites of spring were on. So it's no surprise that they were influenced by the early emo bands. So you could be right on that one!
