@MrLehnerd Hello Mr.Lehnerd, it's good to see you back here again. I wondered where y'all had gotten to. Take a look at Miss Rebecca's Page' comment here. It don't get better than that. Stick around now. Thanks K.
I watched the Flintstones back in the '60s as a kid, but this is one of the few episodes for which I can remember almost all of the details. Had to do some research ... Song was published in 1954 and biggest hit version (#8 on Billboard charts) of it was sung by the Cowboy Church Sunday School. The McGuire sisters also sang it, and that is available on youtube. This episode originally aired on Sept 17, 1965 and during the 1965 season, this song was sometimes played during the closing credits.
@Klaatubes Awesome! It's always best if you can get your hands on any original recording, especially if has been digitally remastered. Ty for replying and again, thanx for posting.
my sister loves this, i had no choice but to love it since i heard it... i'm all about the sun shineing in.. funny part... she just NOW realized it was a spritual song.. lol.. love her anyway... lol
@imperallady your sister's experience sounds kind of like mine. around 1973 ,my parents showed me this song on a record. i enjoyed it a bit, but i didn't pay much attention to the lyrics. i likely couldn't understand the lyrics well enough when it was sung. later i found the song on re-runs of the flintstones. i've heard little bits of it numerous times through the years. yesterday, i found the flintstone youtube video, and i decided to listen carefully, and i discovered it's a religious song.
i,m very thanfull for your beautiful song, i,m 42 years old and i remember earing that song for the first wen i was young, i loved lisening to that song and now my dauther is 15 years old and she also loved it so thanx again for thos beautiful voice
I remember seeing the episode this song comes from when I was like, four. And all I remember is that it really bothered me because the execs were taking the kids away from their parents and Fred and Barney were so upset about it, and nobody was helping them. I had extreme separation anxiety as a toddler so stories where kids were taken away from their parents really unsettled me. I had to see things turn out okay at the end or I couldn't be consoled. The end of this episode really relieved me.
My children and I will never tire of this. I loved the song when I was a kid. We didn't have TV, but we'd hear it on an after-school children's radio program. Did someone named 'Marcie' sing it? Was the show "Aunt Olly" or something like that? Anyway, now my children love it too. They watch the video and sing the song over and over. The harmony sounds so amazing. Thank-you so much!
when I was little I always hoped and hoped that this would be the episode that would be on when I watched after school - it was rare but when it did I was sooo excited! one of my favorites!
I first heard this song when I was 13, and only now I noticed it talks about the DEVIL... dude, I really miss the time when TV cartoons weren´t so PC :-(
Am I the only one to notice that two different users have left messages here, each claiming that it's their mother singing on this? Is one of them a fake? (Or is one of them a sibling to the other?)
@reverendflash rpagemagic68 coudl but the original singer and galictc1972 is her kid. she did say it was recorded when they were 13 when it was recorded.
sorry to bring this up when such a good conversation was going. but i faintly remeber pebbles singing a song to bamm bamm b4 they went to bed. i know they were kids when singing or at least in the end they were kids. dose anyone remeber this song? i can't seem to find it and no one i've spoken to remebers it either.
Thanks for posting and God bless to you and your mom, and others who made this song possible. Also, I'm so sick and tired of others trashing this song, especially if you don't know the 'real reason' behind it, if you don't like it instead of posting when not just move on?? The original people who recorded it were Gospel singers, who very likely had NO idea it'd become this popular, but posting such delusional and hated rants is really beyond childish. Once again, thanks for posting and God bless
One can imagine with a little re writting of the ending, if they went this course and kept them as baby singers.Think if they had any idea of how well this episode would go over, they might have.Perhaps the most beloved episode of the flintstones, next to pebbles birth. Nice to know at last who did the vocals!
this is me and my mother singing. I was 13 when we went in the studio and recorded this for Hannah Barbara. I wasn't a union singer, so I got 500$ for this, basck then $500 was quite a bit of change.
@rpagemagic69 I'm so very honored Rebecca Page to read your comments here. I and many others have been happily entertained by your song for a number of years. It's most gracious of you to share your memories at You Tube. Thank you kindly!
I honestly think this is the best cartoon song of all time maybe second behind the banana splits song...well either way it is either the best or second best all time in my opinion.
@rpagemagic69 wow ! super cool! I am listening to this song for the first time since the 70's. The reference to the devil haunted me for years! I must have only been 6 years old. I have my own band call hatechoir. We are an industrial thrash band (don't let the name fool ya, we're all pretty decent guys - no racism or haters) that song had a real impact on me, I think i misinterpreted the message though. Now I understand it a little more clearly.
@rpagemagic69, Hello Ms./Mrs. Page, You have NO idea what it means to hear this song once again, as I remember the first time I heard it sung, and it brings back such wonderful memories (especially for those of us who found out years later what it was really pertaining to). They really don't make them like this any more, the song is considered to be a "classic" in our book, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Blessings to you and your mom and thanks once again for the memories.
@rpagemagic69 I'm so happy to see your account on YouTube! Didn't your mother's husband compose this? It's been broadcast on Boomerang lots of times! This is said to be the MOST known cover of the original song. Peace. V
@galictc1972 I know it's your mom and I bet you're pretty proud. What a thrill it must be to be a part of such a legend of a family singing team!!! I'm only now learning of the Majorettes stuff, wow. :)
My childhood mission was to see the entire episode after seeing clips of it during the closing Flintstones credits as this song played one Saturday morning. Unfortunately I never did. Nice video montage though, and wow, the sound quality is great!

I remember the episode from the 1960s. Have been searching for this for ages. It confounded me that this song never was a big hit.
