Diplomatic victories were changed in civ 5. Each civ gets one vote for themselves. The rest is determined by the amount of city-states you have allied with you. There's slightly more depth to it, but that's all that's essential.

Diplo is actually very easy in SP. Get a big empire and simply buy out all the city states, which will then vote for you to win. Every civ and city state counts for 1 regardless of size, so you can overwhelm the AI with city states usually.

Actually Diplomacy Victory is not as hard or Rare in Civ5. Each Player and City State get 1 vote. So you need to gain favor with a lot of city states win, not so much the other players who of course are not likely to vote for you.

In Civ4 I ussually got Domination or Science victory because Culture and Diplomacy were hard since like you said the other players don't wanna vote you to win. However in Civ5 I get Culture and Diplomacy victory most of the time now.

is this game worth getting bearing in mind money is scarce and it has to be a game ill play for a long time not play it once and get bored after a day

@adamrules01 The game has a strong replay value just by the fact it is modable. If you get bored (which is difficult for me) by the normal game, there are many other mods to try out and play. I may be biassed but I believe it is a great game. Id continue your research but still thinking about the fact that its replay value is amazing.

@adamrules01 The game has more replay value than really any other game i can think of. Its considered the most addicting game of all time.

Domination is boring to me. I like to play higher difficulty and defend while going for another type of victory. Everyone has there own preference though.
