  • Actually saw this video on a site questioning the existence of hell lol but this really captured my attention i'll be watching some of your other videos as well!

    Will

  • The willies come from the unexplained. My religious in laws were freaked out by a light in my house until I explained to them the dimmer switch was bad when up high.

I get the willies all the time. I don't get them for fear of ghosts, I get them for fear of bad people in the world who may want to do harm for me.

speculation here, but you commented on evolution. Might be that the willies help us pay close attention to possible life threats such as a bad guy who breaks into your basement

  • Interesting thoughts -- Thanks.

So evolution is a thinking process -- It provides us with an intellectual/emotional/physical response (the "willies") to help us survive the bad guys? Where does this thinking process come from? How does this first intellectual/emotional/physical response arise and then get passed along to the next generation? Again, thanks for the thoughts -- Very interesting to think about...

  • There is nothing, absolutely nothing in the supernatural realm. unless you present evidence.

  • Check out Lisa Randall at Harvard. How about Dr. Kaku? How many dimensions have mainstream scientists declared exist? 6, 8, 10? What do the mathematics show? Do these other dimensions (proven mathematically) exist in the physical or metaphysical realms?

  • Reflect7: You believe whatever you want sir, but there is not a shred of evidence for the paranormal.

  • The problem is getting complete agreement among people as to what is in the super natural realm. That is the problem.

  • continued ... Granted, Lovecraft is not a scientist but I believe there is scientific support for this being "hardwired" into animals. A fear of the unknown would be a useful protection for young creatures don't you think? And come on ... I know little about formal logic but it seems you took a Grand Canyon leap to arrive at your conclusion.

  • To sum up your argument: people are scared of portrayals of the supernatural. The fear can not be explained by science. Therefore a supernatural realm exists.

You espouse critical thinking in another video so let me judge you on it:

Firstly, the premise that it can not be explained by science is unsupported. As horror writer H. P. Lovecraft said, "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."

  • So it`s true! A human needs to have faith in something! that`s in our mind. that`s our desire!

And that what the bible says too!!

  • Evolution is as much part of the mind as it is the body.. genes for both are passed on in all species. Animals that avoid and are scared by certain things or predators pass this on to their offspring. Language is not necessary in most species yet they develop from their forefathers the tendancies to avoid the same things, this also leads to the different diets etc...

    Nice presentation and background though!

  • First off I don't get the "willies". Second - Fear of the unknown would help in an environment in which you could get killed by any random creature. (Evolution is directed by survival). We are social creatures, so fear of the unknown keeps us in groups, which helps survival.
