  • Who the heck is Bernerdini?

I thought Bernardini won this race, am I wrong?

Does Durkin have a speech impediment?

  • @Tairaterces You're really splitting hairs here; Tom is saying it fine. The pronunciation of Bern"a"rdini can be a little ambiguous with the "a" sometimes being very close to an "e", depending on the person calling the given race.

Great call regardless, don't you think?

  • Bernardini was better than Barbaro....imo.

  • my all-time favorite call of Durkin's..."He didn't break a sweat and it's 90 degrees! Bernardini runs HUGE."

  • I agree; it's one of his best calls. Bernardini was so talented, he turned this race into a paid workout.

Watching this again, I absolutely hate the way horses with this kind of extraordinary ability are put to stud at three. This sport will never achieve the status it once had if this trend continues. We need more "true" sportsmen in the sport for things to improve, and even better breeding of speed AND endurance, or the thoroughbred line will never recover either.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • @cf1970 I agree completely.

  • The battle between Barbaro and Bernardini would have been a tremendous one in the Preakness!

    Fantastic horse.

  • whata horse...

  • he didnt break a sweat n its 90 degrees..!lol

  • Its a shame we never saw Barbaro vs. Bernardini...

    such a shame he retired

he would have done so well!

his trainer did an awesome job!

    congrats to them so much!

  • i was never a big fan of bernardini for soooo long...then i went to lexington and actually got to meet him and he is the biggest sweetheart i've ever met. this horse is so polite and gorgeous, so i can really appreciate his races better now. =] thanks for the post!

  • What a GREAT horse. I agree, he was retired WAYYY too soon

  • Yep, a real shame. Bernardini had everything going for him, pedigree, size, conformation, etc.

    Thanks for watching.

  • My Pleasure. Thanks for all these wonderful videos :)

    bean

  • You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoy them. ^_^

    Have a great day.

  • Youtoo

    :)))

  • Anyone have Bernardini's Traver's win or found it on here?

  • I haven't found it on youtube. I'll post it for you.

  • It really was a gross day. Constant threat of rain and soooooooo humid. He made it worth it in his brilliance, though.

  • Yeah, I was standing against the rail near the finish line and Castellano never even shook the reins at him. Impressive. Too bad about the BC Classic.

  • Bernardini was astonishing in this one. I remember when I first saw it thinking: he looks like he's just GALLOPING! I loved Tom Durkin's call too. It was great when his voice cracked with sheer joy after he said: "Bernardini runs HUGE!" Classic moment. Regarding the BC Classic, I feel that Javier let him loose too early. God bless.

  • i agree. if you watch the analysis he lost more then 2 lengths to invasor.. so he may have won it had he had a better trip

  • Boy, he WHIPPED that field!

  • Yes indeedy! Take care.
