We all know for a fact that Crosby would have ran away with the Hart Trophy and the Rocket Richard last year he was on pace for 132 points.

Through 52 games in 09-10, Ovechkin was on pace for 138 points. Does that mean that he ran away with the Rocket Richard? No. So it's hardly "for a fact" that Crosby would've kept up his pace last year since he wasn't even scoring as much as Ovechkin's 09-10.
@Fanternal21 You also have to understand that Ovechkin used to be a pure goal scorer IMO I think Boudreau's system is preventing him from playing to his fullest potential. I also believe that other teams have figured out his style of play (I watch almost all the Caps hockey games) they trap and prevent him from shooting. When he does get the chance to score it is from impossible angles or through the defensemen who is being used as a screen.

Comparing Sidney Crosby to Alexander Ovechkin now is a complete joke. Until Ovechkin wins a Gold medal by scoring the overtime game winning goal in Russia (2014), has a 25 game point streak let alone a 19 game point streak, scores a winning shoot out goal in a Winter Classic game or wins a Stanley Cup then you can start taking him seriously. I hate the Pens, but Crosby is hands down a better player than Ovi. Ovi is great as well but Crosby has the hardware to show for it. Crosby took the Pens from nothing to two finals in two years earning a cup the second time. Sidney Crosby has only played 3 games this year and has 7 points (2.32 P/G), Alexander Ovechkin has 17 points in 21 games with a .81 P/G, Crosby is on pace to easily pass Ovechkin this year. We all know for a fact that Crosby would have ran away with the Hart Trophy and the Rocket Richard last year he was on pace for 132 points.

Through 52 games in 09-10, Ovechkin was on pace for 138 points. Does that mean that he ran away with the Rocket Richard? No. So it's hardly "for a fact" that Crosby would've kept up his pace last year since he wasn't even scoring as much as Ovechkin's 09-10.

@Fanternal21 You also have to understand that Ovechkin used to be a pure goal scorer IMO I think Boudreau's system is preventing him from playing to his fullest potential. I also believe that other teams have figured out his style of play (I watch almost all the Caps hockey games) they trap and prevent him from shooting. When he does get the chance to score it is from impossible angles or through the defensemen who is being used as a screen.

How can you prove these players you mentioned are better than Crosby, you can't. You can compare Datsyuk to Crosby when he is the same age as Datsyuk and has the same veteran experience. Comparing Sidney Crosby to Alexander Ovechkin now is a complete joke. Until Ovechkin wins a Gold medal by scoring the overtime game winning goal in Russia (2014), has a 25 game point streak let alone a 19 game point streak, scores a winning shoot out goal in a Winter Classic game or wins a Stanley Cup then you can start taking him seriously. Crosby has already accomplished everything in the NHL even the Olympics, everything from here is a bonus. Ovechkin doesn't have any of this accomplished.

Ovechkin tied Crosby in goals with 32 last season, Ovi played 79 games compared to Crosby's 41 games.

He point average in the regular season is 1.29. In the playoffs it's 1.35.
Crosby is 1.39 in the regular season and 1.32 in the playoffs. Sid should naturally get more points as he is a playmaker and assists are easier to get than goals.
Also Sid winning the Cup makes him better is stupid. You need a team to win, Ovie never even had a goalie until now he has Vokoun. Crosby on the other hand plays with Malkin, Staal, Letang and Fleury.

I hate the Pens, but Crosby is hands down a better player than Ovi. Ovi is great as well but Crosby has the hardware to show for it. Crosby took the Pens from nothing to two finals in two years earning a cup the second time. Plus he was away for most of the regular season and still had the lead for most points until one of the Sedins passed him.

If you're saying that a cup makes Crosby better, then Henri Richard was better than Gretzky, because he had 11 cups, and Tomas Holmstrom and his 4 cups makes him better than Crosby. If Stamkos' 20 goals in 22 games is any indication, "on pace" means absolutely nothing. Ovechkin managed 65 over a full season.

@Sinco1967 Ovechkin is a LW. Semin is a LW. They don't play together. Green is a defenseman. Ovechkin is not a defenseman. They aren't paired up together. Unless Crosby always plays with Malkin, your point makes no sense. Also, if it's all Oveckhkin's fault the Capitals haven't dvanced, despite him having a higher PPG value than Crosby, then I guess that Crosby was a choker in 07, 08, and '10. What a loser. He kinda choked in '09 too since he failed to socre in clutch moments.

@Sinco1967 The Capitals are an underachieving TEAM with a terrible coach. Ovechkin has scored more goals in more clutch times than Crosby, thus it's easy to conclude that he's more clutch. You're basing player value off of team performance. This isn't basketball. Ovechkin can't score 6 goals a game on his own if his team doesn't elevate its play. If Backstrom and Semin vanish, it's not his fault. To call him a choker, you might as well be saying everybody not on a cup team is a choker.

@kdfsjljklgjfg Just to assist you in your argument, Ovechkin has 1.351 PPG and .676 GPG in the playoffs in his career, which is best currently in the NHL and the only 3 players ahead of him are Gretzky, Lemiuex, and Pederson.
