  • guessing????? what strings to strum GUESSING? only 5 strings on the 1rst cord? maybe all strings and kill top string with thumb? great instruction for left hand... drop dead beginners, like me, can't be guessing? what the right hand does

  • Thanks for this video! I'm what you called a "drop-dead" beginner and have had THE HARDEST TIME trying to find a how-to video! This has given me a great start and I will continue through each of your videos! Again, thank you so much!

  • Hey David T! I love your videos but I have a question. I have small hands but I cant buy the durangoguitar online with my type of creditcard(in belgium). I was wondering if the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Ebony(this is one that I can order lol) is good for me. Is it a big difference in scale?

  • good stuff!!!!! thanks

  • thank you helped so much(:

  • hey, everytime i do a chord it sounds like a dead cat, can you give me some tips please???? Great job on the videos!!!

  • 08:11 look theres a dog at the background!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • Lol putting your fingers in place they don't belong. I would suggest taking anabolic steroids to help you fingers grow.

  • hey man i got a question. I have big hands and short stubby fingers. I'd say my fingers are about two thirds as long as yours. No matter how hard I try, i cant stay on my fingertips, and I'm always putting my fingers where i don't mean to. and forget about muting the 6th with my thumb, thats a laugh. Any suggestions?

  • Thanks for the awesome video

  • the dog was totally putting me off haha :')

  • Thanks for the awesome video

  • you re the best man###

  • This is extremely helpful. I'd try to change cords and since I didn't know about "clustering" my hand would come apart and fall away from the frets; this helps a whole lot.

  • ive never thought about this sort of thing when doing chords. Thanks a lot for uploading it, should help me in time for my first gig in a few months!

keep up the awesome work :D

  • How about renaming your technique ( Cluster Pluck ) great lesson !

  • xD did anyone else notice the dog that walked by in the background randomly?

  • @ 4:55 my fingers seem to be magnetically repelled by the strings rather than attracted...

  • really helpful lesson David,thanks...hard to believe something so simple can make such a big difference.

  • He looks like Voldemort......

  • @bigknife38 No, cause voldemort has no nose.. :{

  • Dead strings ring?

    Nice video!

  • Hi - I meant to say either dead strings or strings ringing out out that should not be - my bad!

Take care and stay tuned for part 2 of this lesson - coming this Saturday

    rock oN!

  • I've been playing close to ten years, and this has helped eliminate the bad habits I've picked up. Even the most advanced players need to go back to basics every so often. I reckon even Satriani does it, despite how much he is renowned.

  • I have fat fingers so some chords are hard for me to play without muting stings. What suggestion do you have for this.

  • @bigduce03 lol

  • Freaking love these lessons. Some people know so much they forget what they didn't know when they didn't know and neglect to tell you important details. Super useful.

  • Man you and David are fantastic ive been following you since august and using your lessons for about a month from the begining of january and let me tell you honestly when i started i had never picked up a guitar and now about a month later im getting quite good at chord changing and im starting to feel gratified and thats all thanks to you guyz at next level guitar. Thanks So Much and Rock ON!

P.S im willing to buy my first practice amp i have a fender strat mexico im thinking fender mustang 1

  • good

  • most useful lesson EVER!

  • love your vids man keep up the great work

  • great video dave ,

    when people explain my

playing theres another word after cluster . lol

  • LOL!!!!! - that is funny - you made me laugh - made my morning!

    keep on rocking!

  • I think all this stuff about the position of the thumb is all bull. There are certain techniques that require the thumb to be on the back of the neck (bar chords, etc.), and others that require the thumb around the neck (bending, and any kind of SRV impersonation).

  • Wow. I've taught myself how to play the guitar, and have just noticed I " clustered " naturally.

  • @Re4per Me too and just about everybody that never got a teacher XD

  • Hey David,

    Whats up?

    Hows life?

    See you

    marino

  • Down.. Down, down.. Down, down, down xD

  • Thanks

  • hahaha...the dog :)

  • The so called "cluster" is preference. Tips are a must, but other things, some teachers will say keep ur thumb behind the neck others say put it over the neck. But it's all up to THE PLAYER what ever is comfortable will be ur path. These tips help but in the end you will see what works best for you. No teacher can teach your style.

  • 1:34 So what are the 3 things i need to have in mind when im fingering??? :O 1. Don't let your hand come apart 2.Don't cum 3. Get on your finger tips... Nice tips XD

  • @ohml1188 lol

  • Life is grand.

  • Want him to my teacher!

PS What's the name of the dog 8:09

  • David Your Awesome ! Thnx for the work you do for us. I will review thoselesson videos... im a bass guitar player that got interested in guitar and bought this beautiful Olympic white fender strat.. cant wait to start learning.

  • 1:33 when you are fingering.
