never buy a hp laptop or computer, all of their computers have defect. Hp wont recognize the defect as their problem because the damage comes after the warranty expires . HP laptops and computers just turnoff and never turns on again after the warranty approximately 1.5years of usage .
I'm sorry that you've had a negative experience with HP, but I've owned a few HP laptops over the years and haven't had a problem with any of them - even after the warranty expires. So your experience is not the norm.
You really need to be carfull when you put it on your knees, if it heats up too much is can shut down suddenly, thats why I don't like it, my HP Pavillion does that alot now the battery is ruined. :@
Ive had a few problems with my HP laptop. I payed 1200 euro ( 1800 dollars) in 2007 - 2008 for a medium gaming laptop and it overheated few months ago and i burned the motherboard. I really dont know why , but ive always had overheating problems with my laptops.
I know the problem, with my HP gaming laptop which I bought a couple of months ago kept overheating and shutting down suddenly, its because your blocking the air pip which is on the back of the laptop, if I was you i'd get a battery which has somekind of long thingy on the battery which lifts the laptop/notebook a little bit allowing theair to come out, I have a long battery thing (dunno what its called) and it really helps the air come out of the laptop.
@ralphagir but the problem is when you buy a AMD HP U_u my tx1332 get a damage by $600 USD U_u the processor get burned U_u and I hear about a problem with a super computer of a University of my country (méxico) named Kan Balam a 3 MILLION DOLLAR computer that burn on fire :S designed and installed by HP and AMD but they now buy an intel Supercomputer :) (Aitzaloa)
Usually not - sometimes with software, I'll get to keep it, but with hardware such as laptops, netbooks, etc. 99% of them have to go back within 30 days. The remaining 1% are the kind that I get to use on long-term loan, but the company still owns them.
Nice review man with all of these mini's out there i cant help but want to collect them all i have a dell 10v but i am thinking about a hp i love the weight and color
Got a question about this netbook? Before posting it, please watch my "Top 10 Netbook Questions Answered" and it just might answer your question. Thanks!
hi jason i just seen on the net two versions of display for the hp 2133 and think mine is the lower version wsvga screen is that right. i assumed all 2133 1.6ghz version supported 1260 x 768 either that or i have the wrong chipset driver i tried hp display and its the same res 2008 driver can you confirm this thanks
I'm afraid I'm not magic - I can't tell you what you bought. I wasn't aware of a lower-resolution version of the 2133, but who knows that HP did - it's a big world. If you really want to know for sure, restore your Mini back to the factory settings and you'll see what the max res is - but the box should tell you that anyway...

They had to replace the whole screen but at least it was free. :D I like the black slick top of mine though its widescreen. :P
That's OK. A netbook is just like any other electronic device with a battery: you have to plug it into the wall to get power. Just like your cell phone, and I'm sure you know how to recharge that. :-)
Yo, the price is in the sidebar video description. And, yo, go to HP's Web site to get the most accurate pricing info - this video was shot almost a year ago.
The SD card slot is for Secure Digital memory cards - the kind of cards that most digital cameras use. The ExpressCard slot is for things like CompactFlash adaptors - it's not used that often.
So you think that because Sony made the PSP charger big, that's OK? Sony is known for making stupid decisions with their products - why look to them for good decisions? When you're talking about a portable device, the size of EVERYTHING counts. The chargers that Dell created for the Mini 9 and Mini 10 are quite small, so even if you don't think it matters, Dell does. So does Asus - their chargers are small.
Anyone know what netbook that has longest battery life, I'm thinking about buying one but since thye all are pretty much the same I woud like one with long battery life.
I wouldn't recommend anyone buy a 2133. I loved mine -- which I bought after looking at video reviews like this. It was great, for about six months, Then it just stopped working. A web search of HP forums reveals I am not the only person with this problem, and a bad motherboard is the most likely culprit. Now I am getting crap after sales support from HP. I'd recommend you keep away from this model, new or second-hand.

If you're the person that emailed me yesterday, the best advice I can give you is to focus on learning how to write proper English. Focus on improving your communication skills: spelling, grammar, coherent sentences. If you want others to listen to what you have to say/write, being able to communicate properly is critical.
No, it's actually the fact that HP wants to give users a "quick charge" - I think it's 80% of the battery recharged in 60 minutes of charging. The smaller chargers don't charge as fast. Myself, I'd prefer that - I don't really care about the quick charge.
I don't like the display on these things! I mean just look at the overall size of the display and compare it to the actual screen. There's like a 4 - 5 cm gap on all 4 sides! Imagine how much bigger the display would have been if they used those spaces. Also the keyboard is a bit wierd looking with all those big keyes compared to the tiny screen makes it look unbalanced and unproportional. Why would you even buy a netbook when you already have a decent 15 inch laptop?
hi. im maybe going to buy a 2133 in finland, and here they say in forums that HP have ruined 2133 with processor. is it bad? is screen clear and does keyboard fits with your fingers :D
I really wouldn't recommend the 2133, unless you can get the 1.6Ghz CPU for cheap. But there's a new HP Mini 2140 out now that uses the Intel Atom CPU, and of course the HP Mini 1000, which rocks!
The "Mi" is the Mobile Internet Edition - it's Linux, and has a custom user interface. It's not Windows XP, so youn can't load Windows software on it.
HP has actually been very generous with me, giving me access to a lot of hardware. Dell, on the other hand, has completely ignored every email I've sent them over the past year. Every Dell hardware video you've seen me to is because I've purchased the hardware with my own money - and I end up returning most of it...
Because it adds to the cost and the weight of the system - and other than loading up some software, most people don't use an optical drive that often. If you need an optical drive with you at all times, then you need a laptop not a netbook.
Man im like 13 and I already have an Idol you it sounds cheesy but the job you have is so awesome and you put so much description and stuff into your reviews. When I grow up I really want to be like you and have a job like you thats just pure awesome.
I'm flatted that you're so impressed by what I do. Since you're 13, you have some time to do what's important: focus on your writing. Being a compelling writer, able to communicate your thoughts clearly with words, is by far the best skill you can learn. The rest is just hard work and curiosity. You may want to go into Journalism if you want to go the "official" route.
Sorry lol :) I personly dont like mac, and im buying this 2133 in a few days. I was just refering to the aluminum, a mac steriotype. Although as you say, Apple did not invent that.
I was gonna get a Asus Eee, but i can hear on this guy that it's worth to spend more money on this one. If I love to play Trackmania and a wanna get a Vista version of this, can i then play Trackmania on that??
I Googled Trackmania and got a lot of results, so unfortunately I don't know what you're asking about. If it's a game that doesn't take much CPU or GPU power, then it should work - but remember this is not a gaming machine.
Oh. Okay... I'm not a genius at PC so i had to ask... Trackmania is the only game that i have been playing for more than 2 weeks. It's even betta than World of Warcraft (IMO) but i was about to buy this pc, but then i decided to get a more expencive and better pc later when i have more money...
Anybody want to give me their opinion on getting the 160GB 5400rpm Hard Drive or the 120GB 7200rpm Hard Drive? Is trading space for speed worth it? Or is the speed difference really not that huge of a deal?
I think you should look to yourself for the answer, do you have alot of things you will need to store? Remember this though, you cant install a second HD and you cant replace the HD without alot of hasstle, so for that reason, i, personly would always go with 160 over a smaller amount.
I have the 1.2 GHz with 160 GB drive and this is one of the most impressive small form factor gadgets I've seen this year. Love the keys and durable build. Tons of option for such a small device and its very lightweight.
i have this one , and still can not find out why is the usb on my left looks like a psp mic input :DDD i don` t get it ....

rokiteri 2 years ago
Ihan hyvä prossu on, Ja näytössä on suurin resoluutio mitä miniläppäreissä on.
anzonix 2 years ago
I really wouldn't recommend the 2133, unless you can get the 1.6Ghz CPU for cheap. But there's a new HP Mini 2140 out now that uses the Intel Atom CPU, and of course the HP Mini 1000, which rocks!

netbooks are awesome im gonna get one with windows xp home edition ... cud you do a review on the Advent 4490?
Keekz07 2 years ago
I haven't seen the Advent anywhere locally, nor do I have any PR contacts with them, so probably not.

is there a difference between the hp mini 1000 or hp mini 1000mi? i was planning to buy one but dont know the difference?
MrBoShingles 2 years ago
The "Mi" is the Mobile Internet Edition - it's Linux, and has a custom user interface. It's not Windows XP, so youn can't load Windows software on it.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 2 years ago
so the hp mini 1000 would be a better choice then?
thanks
MrBoShingles 2 years ago
Yes, if you want Windows, the Mini 1000 is the one to get.

Is it made out of plastic or metal?
ElectronicGuineaPig 3 years ago
Plastic - metal is too expensive for a netbook. Carbon fibre would be the next best thing to plastic, but it's fairly expensive as well...

Actually, many of the things you see me unboxing are loaner units from the companies - I usually have to send them back within 30 days.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 3 years ago
damn thats nice, they send them to you to review them....
OrangePHX 2 years ago
What a bunch of stingy assholes!
I mean you're getting a lot of these sold, the least they could do is let you keep the review model
as a thank you.
RabidRat88 2 years ago
HP has actually been very generous with me, giving me access to a lot of hardware. Dell, on the other hand, has completely ignored every email I've sent them over the past year. Every Dell hardware video you've seen me to is because I've purchased the hardware with my own money - and I end up returning most of it...

why doesn't it have a disk drive?!?!?!
tomruseler 3 years ago
Because it adds to the cost and the weight of the system - and other than loading up some software, most people don't use an optical drive that often. If you need an optical drive with you at all times, then you need a laptop not a netbook.

I like to fill the frame - and why not? Don't you want to see things up close? :-)

Take a few steps away from your monitor and that should help. ;-)

Man im like 13 and I already have an Idol you it sounds cheesy but the job you have is so awesome and you put so much description and stuff into your reviews. When I grow up I really want to be like you and have a job like you thats just pure awesome.
speedyravenlink 3 years ago
I'm flatted that you're so impressed by what I do. Since you're 13, you have some time to do what's important: focus on your writing. Being a compelling writer, able to communicate your thoughts clearly with words, is by far the best skill you can learn. The rest is just hard work and curiosity. You may want to go into Journalism if you want to go the "official" route.

it dont come whit a dvd drive or cd drive ?
phxaz4life 3 years ago
No, it does not. If you want to load software off CDs or DVDs, you have to purchase a USB-based optical drive (they're about $50).

Looks a bit like a mac doesnt it?

It's not like Apple invented good design, so no, it doesn't look like a Mac. ;-)
- Jason

Sorry lol :) I personly dont like mac, and im buying this 2133 in a few days. I was just refering to the aluminum, a mac steriotype. Although as you say, Apple did not invent that.
Have a nice day.

I would have sworn it was a MAC

I was gonna get a Asus Eee, but i can hear on this guy that it's worth to spend more money on this one. If I love to play Trackmania and a wanna get a Vista version of this, can i then play Trackmania on that??
brilhaldo 3 years ago
I Googled Trackmania and got a lot of results, so unfortunately I don't know what you're asking about. If it's a game that doesn't take much CPU or GPU power, then it should work - but remember this is not a gaming machine.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 3 years ago
Oh.

OverCookedDelinquint 3 years ago
I think you should look to yourself for the answer, do you have alot of things you will need to store? Remember this though, you cant install a second HD and you cant replace the HD without alot of hasstle, so for that reason, i, personly would always go with 160 over a smaller amount.

I replied to your question over on my other video - please don't post the same comment on multiple videos.

I have the 1.2 GHz with 160 GB drive and this is one of the most impressive small form factor gadgets I've seen this year. Love the keys and durable build. Tons of option for such a small device and its very lightweight.
