as a wild life rehaber, I find it quite disturbing that you BOUGHT a squirrel. In Oregon, in the US it is illegal to keep wildlife unless you have a permit to do so, ie rehabers, Wildlife Sanctuaries, etc. Squirrels do not make good pets, unless they have bonded with you since birth. Their need to chew things to keep their teeth in check and make it very difficult to have them running freely through your home, I know from experience. Young males are very territorial and aggressive as well.
I have bought a 7-month old squirrel two days ago,, but he is not friedly,,, I can touch him only when he is inside the cage, and when I tried to hold him he escaped from me and runs to the corner of the cage and stay there for so long. Also he doesn't eat or drink too much.. is he sick or just afraid ?
Wow, i didn't know they sell tree squirrels as pet other than this part of the world.
Taming a squirrel is not an easy job. Especially if you get him/her big.
Imagine, I have been living with Mia for nearly 2 years now and she still doesn't like to be grabbed or lifted up. She jumps on my hand herself, climbs all over me, but doesn't like to be grabbed by anyone.
So don't expect any friendly action from your squirrel, they need LOADZ of time and patience.
@ds409 squirrels are intelligent creatures, but they don't make good pets. They're too independent for that. Those, who turned into good pets are exceptions. Chances to tame are higher when you raise one, but with an adult squirrel...chances are not great. 7mnth is a juvenile squirrel already. Of course, with MUCH patience & love taming is possible, but you'll have to let him set the pace and the rules. He'll be taming u asmuchas u-him. Tht's how it's w/them, but it's all worth it! Sqs r great!
@ds409 erm if u r serious to have it as pet, and keep squirrel alive, i recommend u can visit 'the squirrel board' it has tons of useful information and active members with knowhows to raising squirrel. baby as well =)

@arlettalent
I couldn't agree more!
I KNOW very well, and i don't support tree squirrels to be kept as pet.
But we were in a Middle Eastern country and here, you can find every kind of wildlife animal being traded! :(
I don't feel sorry that i have bought Mia. I saved a life! (i know this helps trade:/)
She is now a happy and healthy girl with me since 2008..
If you checked my video(s) info, i let people know it is not a good idea to keep a squirrel as pet! x

Terrific! Love the way he/she looks around while eating the apple as if someone might come at any moment and steal it from her.
