  • "Ohh yeah really good reasons" he said sarcastically

  • This also means all the little substitutions we use!! Don't forget those!! The "innocent" little words that you say with the same anger, malice, wrath, and slander are just as bad as what our society says is bad. It's all in your attitude, If you get hot headed and use a substitute word to let off some steam or attack someone it's just as bad as the word you were substituting!

  • I love cussing

  • Bitch

  • in my opinion swearing about God is a sin like oh my ... but if it slips like the it always has been he will forgive but if your not cursing about God then no so swearing about God yes not swearing about God then no

  • it is NOT a sin.......

  • My opinion about it is to never use swearing to mock, hurt or put anybody down. Other than that I think it's fine. Do I swear on a regular basis? No, but i will not get mad at anyone if they do.

  • fuck shit cunt piss cocksucker tits

  • Comment removed

  • To those swearers out there why do you have to swear, why put the the f*** word before a word or calling stuff sh*t why and when you say damn to people or with God's name Why? do you want to be damned in hell? why you think it's fun yeah saying things like that. People who swear don't care about God or probably do but questions God about it well there's the saying when Jesus talks to Satan "You shall not put your Lord God to the test"

  • opscene talk?

first of obscene means offensive to the mind, so there for you would have to then validate what was offensive to the mind. to most people swearing isnt offensive, but spreading faulse tails about the person is ( or lieing )

the second verse u said the bible was just stateing a fact and gave nothing to set a princeable on also in bible time cursing ment wishing ill of some one (please look to the story of jacob and easu where easu asks issac to curse his brother jacob )

  • The scriptures talk about evil things coming out of your mouth, like "I wish you were dead and go to hell" and stuff like that. Words like "shit" are just words that have been tabooed.

So saying "You should be darned to heck", even though the words are not suggestive, would be a sin because you are wishing harm on someone. Saying "Oh ****" would just be taboo because it doesn't sound right.

Like when you see Europeans clapping at funerals out of respect, though that's profane in USA.

  • gnorance at it's finest. Cursing is a sin, but cussing isn't. Cuss words are made up by man. They are nothing more than a combination of letters in the alphabet. It's how you use those words that determine if it is bad or not. Did you know that "Dang it" was once considered a cuss word? How many of you all have said that?

  • the third verse yeah, the first to no, cuz they sound more like what hitler, or hate speech, does. and did hiltler cuss. more damage can be done with a clean mouth than just saying fuck.

  • (continued).

It is your INTENTIONS and the "energy" behind what you are saying, that is far more important, than the actual words you use.

Here's another example. I want you all to think about which causes more damage. 2 scenarios.

1)you are sitting on your couch, you stub your toe, and scream "Fuck!! Ow!"

2)you are trying to convert a muslim, and he upsets you. So you say "YOU are all gonna die!!"

    ??

    see the point?

  • Hey. I think that there is a big difference between someone saying "oh shit," or a christian leaving a comment on a pagan's page saying "you are going to hell!"

the second statement, though it does not use cuss words...

    is PACKED WITH HATE.

First of all, you (I'm generalizing) don't even know the person!!

Are u claiming to be God, and able to judge someone's SOUL in the 2 seconds you read their about me section?

So, my point is this. It is your INTENTIONS behind your words, that matter

  • "Why so serious, son?" so wise..so wise.. hehe.. Mel directed me here, btw. LOL!

  • Great video brother. This topic is really needed. With YT-My space-Facebook you see alot of cussing. The Word of God is so clear that our hearts are revealed thru our words.Profanity reveals a profane heart.5 stars!!

  • what if i stop cussing for good and ask for fagivness from god? is my past of cussing gone?

  • Good vid bruh! Maximum respect, God Bless.

  • Is Swearing and Cursing the same thing?

  • Part 3:

Saying "fuck", "shit", "motherfucker", "cocksucker", "damn", "bitch", "cunt", etc. have no meanings other than that which we place on them. It's the context in which we use them that becomes the problem, NOT the word. I've used the word "motherfucker" as a salutation to my best friend as in "How you doing, you motherfucker?" Now if I was talking about a sex act I was going to perform on his mother, then there's a problem. "Fuck" is loosely translated from German origin as "to strike."

  • Part 2:

And to those who say using "gosh darn" is the same as saying "God damn"...you're wrong! What's wrong with saying "God damn" is NOT the damn part or any substitute of words, it's the use of God's name/title in a manner other than praise or calling upon Him that's inappropriate.

  • Obscene talk is talking in a filthy manner as in talking about committing a sexual act on someone, it doesn't mean saying "fucker" if I hit my thumb with a hammer!

Everything else this poster said doesn't say or prove diddly from a Biblical standpoint. You don't want to use the name of Jesus or God inappropriately.

  • Cussing is a sin. Period. Things are either good or bad because God sees things as black and white. You think cussing is not bad? Then it must be good. Please, teach your future children to cuss alright? Also, would you cuss in front of God if He was right in front of you? I did not think so. Oh, and this US culture says that you should respect all opinions and beliefs right? I guess you should respect mine then.

  • Who gives a fuck! oh no that's a sin oh god im going to hell.........shit.

  • say 10.

  • If you weren't ment to swear, that why does this world exist

  • "I want to read a few scriptures and then you can decide for yourself..."

  • is it just me or does he sound absolutely hammered?

  • (^__^) agree totally !!!! swearing is sin...we can't change any gray hair white or white hair gray so just yes be yes and no be no =)

  • All from Deuteronomy:

Did you know that if you got married, died, and had an unmarried brother it would be your wife's christian duty to marry your brother?

Did you know that if your friend or neighbor has a different faith you are supposed to kill him/her?

If you a man has sex with a virgin and gets caught, he has to buy her from her father and marry her.

What a fucking ridiculous book to use as a guideline for one's life.

  • That's all Jewish law, which Jesus freed us from, all but the most important laws. Besides which, there are verses in the Proverbs that forbid cussing as well.

  • Words are just different combinations of the same fucking letters. They have no power, unless you give them power.

  • Think you should first clarify what is "cussing". If someone says "I hope you go to Hell" That is cursing someone without using todays idea of a "curse word". It isn't the word. it is the heart behind it. Need to be sure your heart is in the right place before you speak ANYTHING, or it becomes obscene, hurtful, and vulgar in Gods eyes.

  • What a load of baloney.

  • who even made these words O_O

  • You got it dude, swearing is a sin. Unwholesome speech coming out of our mouths is wrong, cursing is wrong, and for anyone who says 'cussing isn't wrong', just look at the definitions of the words that are labeled as cuss words... it's so obvious.

    Thanks for uploading this :)

  • But I doubt we use any of the curse words used by thoses people.

How do we Know Which words Yahew does not want us to say?

Or are you saying its not the words themselves but the Context and the meanings the words you use have is what matters; that make more sense.

  • dude thnx for putting this up. ive been wondering about this for such a long time. i have some christian friends tht are "on the edge" so to speak and have been asking why shouldnt we swear? does it say it in the Bible? now i can answer them

  • it's a sin but it comes out of my mouth somedays i wnt say it doesn't!

  • LOL!!!! Washing your mouth in the toilet! Hahaha that was great, I loved it! :D

  • curse men... people put curses on each other back then , an possible today, but these words we call swear words were divided for adult use.there action words the may have dark understandings,, but shed some light on the words children use,,, these words did not exsist 2000 years ago,,, society controls it self with words,, controls within control

  • Excellent message and very well presented. This was edifying for me. Praise God, good job.

  • I tend to agree Justin. However, when one investigates and learns something of general evolutionary linguistics and morphology one can see that words tend to change meaning over time due to a kind of cultural contextual pressure. My main question to you would be: dont you think it might be more constructive to concentrate on the emotion and intent behind the speakers meaning; rather than a perceived (subjective) threat by the actual presence of the word in general oral communication?

  • Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter. My kindest and warm regards,

  • You pose a very good point. But why even say them in the first place if its hallow words? You have to ask yourself, do you really glorify the Lord by cussing? Check out my other video on swearing. More detailed. A lot of scripture.

  • James 3 6... is rather short with and real information with regards to defined explicatives. Hmm, lets make it simple :]. Dont you think it is context dependent? Have a look at these references to scripture. Genesis: 21:23, 21:24, 22:16, 24:3, 24:37, 25:33, 47:31, 50:5 & 50:25. Joshua: 2:12, 2:17, 2:20, 23:7 & 15:12. Judges: 15:2. 1 Kings: 1:13, 1:51, 2:42. OR... Genesis: 3:14, 3:17, 4:11, 5:29, 8:21, 9:25, 12:3, 27:12... need i go on... lots of scripture here...:}.

  • Now back to my original question... *see above*... what is your opinion? My warm and loving regards,

  • well...?

  • Come XchumpX ... the answer?

  • oh... sorry meant 'champ'... gosh my finger seem to big for the keyboard. Kind regards,

  • What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. [....] The things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man 'unclean'; (Matthew 15)

  • And then we could get into unclean spirits; is there a connection?

Jesus gave us this warning for a reason, it should not be taken lightly by those of us who love the Truth.

  • Wow, I'm amazed at all the people who are offended by this.

The New Covenant is one of Blessing.

    Bless you ALL

  • Amen

  • And also the bible is a contradictory mess. For example the myth that god cannot be seen. In exodus 33:32 it says And I will take away my hand, and thou shalt SEE my backparts. In Genisis 32:30 it says For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. So i guess he can be seen....but in John 1:18 it says No man hath seen God at any time. and in Exodus 33:20 it says And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for there shall no man see me and live. Dont give me that metaphorically bullshit

  • The Bible was not made for you to pick and choose if you liked metaphors or not. Even if you don't like them, that doesn't mean that they're incorrect.

  • You are looking at this from a way to religious stand point. Take a step of your soap box and look at it from the outside. The "swear" in the bible is referring to swearing an oath, not swear words and obscene talk is when the words you say are directed in a negative manner to another. To say the word fuck, like Fuck that, is not a sin. And to say God damnit is not a sin either. God is a generic term for a supernatural being. Unless his name is God and not just his title, then no harm done.

  • but doesnt the bible have swear words in it??

so why cant u guys cuss?

    doesnt make sense

  • can you please tell me what they are? i guess it depends on how it is used though. if you are talking about a whore in literal context, then its not a sin. But if you call someone a whore in an insult, yes it would be.

  • whore, harlot, drunkard, ***, whoremonger, damn??

  • its describing something. do you see the bible saying ,"DAMN YOU! YOU WHORE!" no they are describing something, plus that is where it all origonated from.

  • mhmmmmmm ok

  • @xchampx So it's okay to say "I gotta go take a shit" or "John was fucking her secretary"?

  • @ilov3fudg3 you fiend! if the bible aint got no curseing. then dont curse. that just tells me your dumb.

    even though im late replying.

  • @ilov3fudg3 if it dont got cussin in it then dont curse. simple as that

  • You dont have to think about it -swear as much as you like because there is no holy spirit

  • Allah?

God says it is not good. Just as this guy says.

xchampx you have hit the nail on the head, keep going :-)

  • You don't know Allah? Father of Christ.

  • I think you have been mistaken. Allah is not God of Jews & Christians.

  • No, I am not mistaken. You are just uninformed. Allah is for all Abrahamic religions.

  • I hate to start some massive debate, but as a Christian I can safely say that Allah is not connected to Christianity at all.

Islam has nothing to do with Christianity, no matter how much the media tells you otherwise.

  • I am a Christian and I tell you Allah is everything. No matter how much the media tells you otherwise.

  • ok you can believe that if you want to but I am just telling you that Allah is not to do with Christianity, Allah is completely separate he was made by Muhammad. God is God, God is the Alpha & Omega, Jesus Christ and I could go on.

He is not Allah. Give me a Bible reference that says the word Allah.

  • Genesis 1:1

    "Fee al-badi' khalaqa Allahu as-Samaawaat wa al-Ard"

  • ignore my naivity but what language is that?

I meant more from a English original Bible such as the King James Version

  • English original? Hehe, no such thing. Aramaic was original. Hebrew and Greek were original for the compilations.

KJV did not use the Aramaic and the Peshitta. KJV is only 400 years old and was written to appeal to white people who wanted to have stylistic verses. Original bibles much different.

  • It is translated though, and also I should point out your mistake of the KJV, firstly it was not for stylish people, it was for people to READ the Bible, which did include lower class people.

You have to say though, the normal average Christian cannot read Hebrew/Greek, but can read English. I would love to read it in Greek - but I am rubbish at languages!

Matthew 24:14 - says about Gospel being spread across world, surely that also means that it doesn't matter what language the Bible is in.

  • It was written to be stylish for the time. Wikipedia even says "in a period of rapid linguistic change, they avoided contemporary idioms; tending instead towards forms that were already slightly archaic, like verily and it came to pass.[92] They also tended to enliven their text with stylistic variation, finding multiple English words or verbal forms, in places where the original language employed repetition."

You might be thinking of the Geneva bible.

  • You trust wikipedia? oh dear.

  • I would give something that required reading, but I was afraid it would be too complicated for you. You should just keep following your 200 year old bible, it is very different from the original, but it is simple to read.

    Allah bless you.

  • Try me, I will keep on reading my 400 year old Bible thanks - better than reading NIV & Co.

The gospel is being spread around the world, which Jesus said would happen in English & any other language which you can think of.

I will ignore you ignorant comment at the end, as I am not going to get angry by your immaturity as you know it will provoke me.

God Bless You, and I do pray you find the Truth which is in Jesus Christ.

  • oxygenandco2, check out Nebzz profile. He's not a Christian, just a mocker.....

  • Just have, doesn't really surprise me to be fair!

I actually feel sorry for people who mock to make themselves happy...

  • @oxygenandco2 Allah is simply a transaltion....

  • I agree with the Bible, you shouldn't do it.

I know everyone slips up every once in a while but we really should try not to.

  • i believe there are many things that you can say that would be sinful. But i do not believe that it is that black and white. When people say "jesus! or 'Goddamnit' i believe thats wrong. i think it depends on the context, what defines a cuss word. Can i never say Bitch? do i have to refer to feces as "poo" or "waste? What words are wrong in ALL contexts? maybe F**k would be wrong in all contexts, i dont know. But i dont believe if you died just after sayin F**K you would be damned to hell for it

  • Thanks man! I always try to tell my couzins and friends. It is really pointless also. I have another verse for you to add to the arsenal, Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupt word proceed from your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers". Take care bro.

  • Fo shoo AMEN to that brother... it is hard to keep a tame tongue... especially during those times when something or someone scares you or if you get hurt or if you get pissed off over stuff... if it wasn't for God sending his one and only son we would all be sent straight to Hell especially with all the sin in this world today

  • You just said it states that our mouths are full of sin (agreed) and that includes swearing (not so much). It sure seems that when it says curse mean, it means the meaning of curse as in to wish negative conditions upon them. You are putting words in the Bible. OBSCENE TALK MEANS TALK ABOUT OBSCENE THINGS

  • think about it though, every negative word is a curse. when one says D*mn, is that person not damning someone or thing? Or of course there are worse words. Obscene talk is different also but still the same. If you wouldn't speak of obscene things why would you curse? look at the post I put up near the top. Take care brother.

  • We have VASTLY different starting point in this argument... If you take swearing as a negative before you even get to the scripture, then your argument makes sense.

The real issue here (from my understanding at least) is the intent. I don't understand how a word by itself can be evil. In a lot of cases swear words are used WHILE cursing others, but the "swear word" itself, is not cursing someone. The sin is your intent to harm, not the words you use to do it! That is, if you ask me!

  • Your going into what I said to far, of course I didn't mean every negative word, and of course words can't really be negative unless you give them a certain meaning and use them a certain way. But I am pretty sure that everyone links Curse words with those words that people use most when being negative. I know a single word can't be considered evil, but when that word was created with evil intent then yes I think it is not okay to say. Take the F word for example. hang on this message is to long

  • okay back to the F word. It came from the French in a war back in the day I don't remember which one but my history teacher was telling us. The French used long bows in this one, and when they would become prisoners they would say pluck you to their captivators. because they were basicaly cursing them to be shot with an arrow. The middle finger is also called the birdy finger because they would have bird feathers on the end of there arrows. so when one says F, they are kill? a curse.message2long

  • Yeah, and I think I heard that at the end of the war, the French would give their enemy (the British) the finger to signify that they still had their middle finger, and thus had won. When the French were captured they would cut off their middle fingers so that they couldn't use their longbows anymore. Or at least thats what my teacher told me way back when

  • Yeah thats it! And they would show it as in saying, "yeah we can still pluck you". Over the years some "folk etymologies" have grown up around this symbolic gesture. the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodental fricative "f," and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger salute are mistakenly thought to have something to do with an intimate encounter.

  • Leviticus 20:9

If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death.

  • True. But the old testament. jesus died so we dont have to abide by the law, but by the grace of God through Jesus Christ and not by our works.

  • so does that mean we can ignore everything in the old testament? all the mosaic laws for example are erased by Jesus' life?

  • I used to have such a foul mouth but when I became born again I didnt want to swear and I just knew it was wrong when I became a 'new creation' and idnt want to anymore. And if i slip up and do swear and curse i get and instant conviction in my heart.

  • I agree with you.

Anything that is inherently wrong; inherently meant to be offensive should not be associated with Christians.

  • may god bless you

  • I knew the answer by just reading the title of this video. God is great.

I love the James scripture you used. Funny, how it was the first one I thought of. It such a powerful. We CANNOT praise God and curse in the same mouth LOL.

  • Finally nice to meet you in video Justin!

    God bless you!

  • It's a pleasure buddy. =) God Bless!
