Coniston is a real classic, Belize was a bit too castrol GTX for me, Lincoln green is a nice oldie that needs to come back! HRH Prince of wales has Balmoral green, although dealers seem unable to show me this as i wanted to get a special build in that colour
You need to contact LR Special Vehicles I suspect for anything none standard in the range. I also wish there was a solid blue, like Stratos or Caledonian Blue. The latter being my preferred blue. I did like Marine blue and Bronze Green on the series motors. And we need a red to complete the solid colour range.
well i'm going for Galway Green now, RR and Defender. Caledonian blue was a real classic, also think the red they ned should be the same as the solid used on the Disco early versions as it was bright, Alvaston is dull in the present LR range and too expensive on defender when solids keep budgets down. Bronze Green works well and would be a real bonus to see that back in the defender range, seen a 101 painted in that recently looked superb! Will get my green defender on youtube in the new year!
how does harpur expect to bring back throttle cables ?????? does he understand that ALL model diesels have electronicly controlled injection systems ??? all that throttle cables are as much use as tits on donkey to them ! lol
I think you can, I won the tickets through the LR website, I think they had masses of places too.
Otherwise they do corporate style doo's. I think if you do the full day experience you learn winching skills and all sort of other good stuff with more demanding tracks. Whatever you get, it's a great day.
ford engine and power bulge in the bonnet (hood), looks like it might be the best 90 since the factory v8 version. ok it wont be that good but at least it can splash through water without conking out, but dont get the electronic fly by wire sender unit on the excelerator pedal wet or you will limp home on tickover. unless they have gone back to proper throttle cables.
I definitely like the new engine and g-box, the new dash is far better built with the nice heater too.
My main concern is the fact the 7 seater 90 is now reduced to 4 seats, 110 is reduced to 7 seater due to the sodding EU.
One really nice feature is you cannot stall the in 1st or 2nd even if you dump the clutch, it automatically raises the tick over point. Sounds strange, works well.
I forgot to check how the throttle functions, the TD5 flyby wire is OK though.
no stalling system sounds very good, i think the td5 was prone to stalling, with this system it sounds like they can have a revvy diesel and keep it going in low first when crawling, best of both worlds.
yeah I was very impressed, it's will be great for towing and hill starts. It also helps that first is 30% lower than the TD5 box and 6th is 30% higher. It's got plenty of torque available and the turbo has got some real kick to it. There is a fair amount of lag though. Have you driven one yet harper?
no,but i had a series 2 that i put a ford pinto engine in about 18 years ago. i live close to eastnor so i might book a test, the major told me off years ago for using the test track without permission, happy days.
You were selected for previous talent or a random selection?

I don't know if talent is the right word :)
All I did was fill out a form on the landrover website, as far as I know most people who filled it in got to go, there were tons of places.

The accelerator is fly by wire sadly. Nice motor but the new colour range is crap.

the new green is better than Tonga, Galway?
BlesamaSoul 3 years ago
Yes I agree, but only just. Neither are as good as Belize or Coniston Green.

I think harper's commenting on landrover's "unique" build and electrical component quality rather than returning to cable!!

Hehe, brilliant!!! Your lucky to live round there, it's lovely part of the country, the castle is pretty amazing too.
It's well worth a test drive. Just don't take your cheque book :)
