I LOVE the 200a Wurly...it is the KING of jazz E-Piano Bass player didn't need to take a solo....i could've done without it. the drummer is WAY WAY too conservative.

Her lungs are (like here) too thin to carry off this impersonation of Nora Jones

hathor you dont know what you are talking bout!!! belive me maddy can cut the musterd with the rest of them when it comes to playing, saw her 4 years ago in new york buskin with danny fitzgerald lost and wondering jazz and blues, just before she got world reconiton for her talant and at jazz fest chelt,uk she was fantastic sing and playing her guitar i guss some people got the green eye which is why she there and your not!!!!!!

She's not as good live as her recordings where they tweek everything. If you pay close attention she doesn't really even play the guitar, it's a prop. You can never hear it anyway. I've seen her live, and all you can hear is the other guitar being played. I think she's a big phoney copying other's styles. The key board is also out of tune.

I play jazz guitar and I can tell you she is playing. I can assure you. She is just playing the triads that suit the way she wrote the song. She has rhythm, beauty and a distinctive sweet voice. Her voice just hits it nicely. She is not Ella or Lady Day, she is just Madeline.

actually this live version is a little better than the last of her i heard- her careless love cd is billie holiday to the bone.

regarding guitar playing - back in that era the ladies were not encouraged or even permitted to bring an instrument. they left their instruments at home and concentrated on singing and being sultry. please don't begrudge billie holiday. at least no one accused her of ripping off another's style.

what a fabulous version! Madeleine Peyroux proves to be a truly original musician. For those that irrationally want to compare her to Billie Holiday, remember that Billie didn't play an instrument. Madeleine is clearly the band leader.

you can't help by compare the voice to Billie, it does not take away from Madeleine. She is completely fabulous, but damn the voice echoes eerily of Billie's sweet, sad, vulnerable voice. Madeleine is unique though and I have been listening since the first cd came out. I think she is truly a star in the best appelation of that word.

when people compare her to billie is because vocally the nuances and tonality are pretty much identical, in billies early years anyway. but i see it as a good thing...
