  • Cool version, originally by the Clovers in 1951 I think.

  • they don't make or play music like this anymore johnnoh

  • Another great recording by Buddy, along with Night Train, it's my favorite.

  • what a nice horn' section! Great band!...

  • can anyone give me other recomendations as to jazz numbers performed with such coolness

  • Buddy Morrow: February 8th, 1919 - September 27th, 2010. Rest In Peace my friend.

  • @USRoute66 really good for him living that long, I think the oldest jazz guy now is herb jefferies

  • I'm playing it again! :-)

  • Great song and great, great performance by Morrow and the Orch. Thanks for posting.. I've played over and over again..

  • Love it. I have copy too. Yep - 78rpm.

  • steeeeeeeee

  • I am 77 years old and have never heard this before. Great.

  • @ljliljohn I'm 75 and heard it at least 50 timaes Where were you in 1952?

  • If you listen close you will hear Ray say "Just a little bit of soda", appropriate since a mint julep is made with "a little bit of soda". At least that is the way it was all explained to me years ago. Have to admit, though, listening through headphones at high volume it could just as easily be "a little bit of sould, now". But I'll stick with "soda"

  • That record is playing fast, it must be a 78 rpm.

  • BTW, Ray Charles did a excellent version of "One Mint Julep" in a big band style kinda way. That song came out in the early 60's.

  • You gotta love the organ part of the song and Ray Charles says "Just a little bit of soul now!"
