Despite the absence of Peter Gabriel of Genesis there is still the feeling in his songs like this, with the magic of Mike or Tony keyboards to guitars or of course to see Phil play drums, which is the best thing to in that group and not drift "commercial" take the leadership group. A success indeed the incorporation of Chester on drums also on purpose.
But the evolution of Genesis with Gabriel had been wonderful, a shame, yet one of the best music group of all time .-
Steve is an incredible guitar player and he invented that incredible solo... and I am a fan of Hacket but... the daryl´s solo is just... oh my god the strat melted in that solo come on!!! fantastic!!!
@Holdsworthands Steve didn't 'invent' that solo. He was just interpreting a melody Tony Banks wrote. Nevertheless, it was an awesome solo, and so was Daryl's. Just different.
i know i am probably in the minority of genesis fans in this, but i think daryl's version of the firth of fifth solo blows away hackett's. no feeling, my ass!
Thumbup if you were actually there at Knebworth? I was, and with a heavily pregnant wife, and our daughter she gave birth to is now 19 years old and a big Phil Collins fan.
DARYL! you are awesome! Love Steve too, gonna see him live this saturday. so glad. I'm 19 and yet i get to see my fathers heroes and my own heroes perform live. Saw this formation of Genesis 4 years ago in Dusseldorf. Saw Yes this monday, saw Peter gabriel last year. life is good:)
I am a huge fan of Daryl Stuermer. In Steve Hackett's absence, he was/is the only musician who can fill the shoes. But on FoF, he embellishes when it calls for understated.
even what some people could say!! but too far the Daryl's version of the solo of Firth of fifth is the best one of all the other specially in this concert ....I loved the original solo..but the daryl's one pull me off!!
I used to listen to this medley on The Longs album every weekend when I went over to my parents to mow their lawn. There was a lot of lawn to mow and this was one of the tapes in my walkman.
@airdriver first i was like, okay funny story. 5 sec later popped in my mind: "me? I'm just a lawn mower, you can tell me by the way I walk!" IT'S GENIUS YOU :D
Daryl Stuermer is just huge. This guy is underated as he is not part of the Group's 3 members and is almost always in the left in the back of the exposure, but he gives so much feelings, his notes are so harmonious, even his look fits perfectly the image of Genesis and a Rock guitarist that he deserves to get a lot of praise
@Fluvioglacialiteit My one complaint is that I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) is cut in half (it is missing the second verse, which was reinstated for the 2007 tour).
Whoever dislike this is fucking stupid -_-

Everyone fails to mention the snippet from the very early track Stagnation which runs along as part of I Know What I Like in this medley.

He's a nice guy, too
And a fantastic "Live"-musician.
