@Victoriaseo123 yes actually this game is a prequil to the very first Tales game: Tales of Phantasia Tales of Vesperia is a distant prequil to Symphonia and Phantasia

@Victoriaseo123 You could say that I suppose, but personally I'd like to say that each Tales game is its own story, with recurring themes and characters here and there. I do know for a fact that Symphonia takes place thousands of years before Phantasia. Also, Vesperia only has 4 spirits, whereas Phantasia/Symphonia has 8 spirits (technically 10, but details details lol).
