  • Wow. This is not HD. This is you holding your camera in front of a screen because you do not know how to record.

  • He didnt say it.it was the announcer

  • Indy car's are poorly designed, or I should say 'were'. This crash has changed how they are made. Its a shame that someone has to die before they make them safer. Aryton Senna's death made Formula 1 cars amazingly safe. Now Dan Wheldon will be most remembered for making Indy racing safer.

  • Dan Wheldon was killed

JR Hildebrand, Will Power, and Pippa Mann were injured.

    RIP Wheldon

  • did anyone die .. im just soo lost on the video

  • why does this vid have so many dislikes

  • it is so wierd that the commentator just casually says: "and dan wheldon may be involved"

  • @JosephMSmithMusic I don't see anything weird about that, maybe the commentator was talking about him moments before...

  • WHO THE FUCK SET THEIR REACTION TO FUNNY! IF I FIND YOU I AM GOING TO BEAT YOU SENSELESS!

  • What I don't understand is why folks say things like "He died too young," or "why did this have to happen." Duh. Look what the dude did for a living. He was literally risking his life each second he was "at work." If you do risky stuff like this, then realize that a fatal crash is highly probable.

  • @ookma7 He had been a racecar driver since he was a young boy. He was passionate, enthusiastic, warm, kind, generous, loving. He was a husband, father, son, brother, teammate, & amazing friend.

At 33 years old he was already a highly accomplished champion & highly regarded talent in motorsport – especially the Indianapolis 500. Now, future accomplishments will not be realized.

  • @ookma7 Lastly, Many don’t know how the Indianapolis 500 began. A history worth checking out - part of American history worth knowing. For many of the technological & safety innovations that have come about at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, via IndyCar & other forms of motorsports are now standard features I our passenger cars that we drive or ride in everyday.

  • Dan Wheldon spent much of 2011 as the test driver for Dallara & the new 2012 IndyCar. A car that will be much, much safer for his fellow drivers. There is no doubt that THOSE safety innovations that Dan Wheldon had an important hand in testing will benefit you & me and keep us safer on the roads we drive.

  • @ookma7 Because technology today has made fatal crashes almost the thing of the past and deaths at such car races are few and far between. Of course, his profession involved inherent risks butt these things are not supposed to happen.

  • @ookma7 u retard. Think before you talk.

  • @ookma7 of all the places this sport can be, it's in america. Lack of safety and simplicity for the idiots over there.

  • @cameosam lack of safety? that track has safer barrior walls and a catch fence.....hows that lack of safety?? how bout put a cage around the driver you fuckin idiot it aint the track that killed him it was the car if he woulda had a cage around his head going into the catch fence he problly would still be here....lack of safety my ass....how bout knowing what ur talking about before u open ur cocksuckers!!

  • @juniorherron are you seriously trying to state this sport is safe? A single driver error has resulted in a multi car pile up at phenomenal speed. and if anything it is the track which killed him. This would rarely happen in formula 1 where tracks test driver skill rather than speed. The field is spread out rather than together. So yes, it is both the sport and the track design which killed Dan Wheldon. If you say otherwise, Fuck off you filthy uneducated twat. Just as stupid as indycar racing.

  • PENIS

  • What is the guy sreaming at 11 seconds?

  • Who is it that shouts 'go low, go low, go low'? Is it one of the team engineers on the pit wall??

  • @HOLTY999 That was mostly likely one of the driver’s race “spotters” – who, depending upon the track, sit from a high viewing point, to provide info to the driver.

Don’t want to assume that you don’t follow motorsports & explain things you might know. But in the case that you don’t, I’d be happy to answer anything else if you have questions.

  • crap video. just a dude with a handheld videoing the t.v.

  • Is Dan Wheldon the one that flies in the wall and takes fire?

  • @HeroSmashAsterix No, Wheldon is actualy in one of the last cars affected. He comes up fast on the pack towards the end of the slow motion segment and his car runs over another car and flies into the air.

  • @psychohist Oh.. :( R.I.P...

  • I am going to say when are they taking these guys off the damn oval track...It's not the safer car that is needed its the Jackasses that run the races knowing that these cars are not the stock and are not meant for these types of tracks....How many more must die before the realize what there doing

  • RIP DAN! TRUE LEGEND!

  • i like how on 0:15 the dudes like, "OH! MULTIPLE CARS INVOLVED!" and then he's the last one to speak for a long period of time. its proably cuz all the other homies thought about how much of a wanna be retard he was.....wanting to get in the action....

  • How long is it going to take for the Indy Car series to learn from F1 and make the cars safer?

  • @MightyPoo64 F1 is losing viewership because soon they will put a 1.2 hybrid engine in the cars....The drivers know exactly what they are getting into when they sign the dotted line and if risking your life isnt worth the racing, dont do it. Naturally, the manufacturers will build safer and more reliable cars as time goes on without all the regulations imposed on them. F1 has turned into a joke and a the FIA has become so corrupt with all the added regulations it proves my point 100%.

  • holy tits

  • 34 cars on that trak was insane it's a nascar track when i first saw the first second of the wreck i was like holy crap then it went to oh my god

  • this is upsetting that it happend and i watched it live. honenstly they should cover the suspenchion and tires to provent this or they can just close the cockpit to help thease become safer. Sorry if this is spelled bad.

  • @zebrahead1100 they were testing the cockpit covers but they thought of how to get the driver OUT.R.I.P Dan Wheldon

  • I race oval karts and as a fellow racer, it's harder to watch than a person who isn't. It gives you a rude wakeup call to tell you that anything can go wrong. The last thing Dan Wheldon did was look in his mirror. Rest in peace brother.

  • These guys put their lives on the lines for some thing they are passionate about and believe in. Respect them all. Dan Wheldon..RIP :(

  • Him and that poor Doug Earnhard can share their stories now..

  • @catstalker1

    dont u mean Dale........

  • Wow...heard all about this on the radio and had to see it RIP Wheldon everyone I have heard including our own Scott Dixon have mentioned on air what a wonderful individual he was. Peace

  • I hope the executives got the ratings they want now.

  • i was thar

  • @logawful Thanks!

  • rip dan wheldon

  • shit

  • Thats really bad..I dont even know who the guy or watch Indy or NASCAR but I really feel bad.

My condolences go out for his family and friends.

  • RIP DAN A TRUE WARRIOR !!

  • I heard Steve Jobs died. RIP Steve Jobs. :(

  • Noone not moons

  • I love people that try to advertise bullshit in comments. If your going to do it pick a video where moons was hurt or died.

  • Comment removed

  • rip

  • miss sulph, why put on a rant ? All you have said has nothingto do dan, Helost his life doing a sport he loved, not trying to change a world, bet ur a yank !!!!!

  • Thats what happens when you run cars like these on a track built for NASCAR.

    Fucking duh

  • @MissSulphurFarts Corporate hands have blood on their hands on many other ocasions. Think about airplane crashes cos an airline was trying to save on spare parts. Remember Air ONtario Crash? And that was just one of many. Not to mention wars run for money or what Christophers Columbus men did to defenceless indians to take gold from them. This World is sick and has to end. People all have to die to change the world for better. Sad but true.

  • One time the Indy made a race in Germany, Sachsenring. It was in the first year of this new build track. Zanardi lost both legs. This track was buildt for the F-1, the first one in germany with a steep turn. The F-1 never again started a race at this track. Stop looking only for the thrill of it. This was again a tragedy. One of countless.....more than sad.... !!!

  • Oval races are not interesting at all. The speed is wow, but the rest is only veeery spectacular for the fans who need the thrill, seeing drivers who risk their live. Sick. Couple of them tried to change into the F-1, they were nobodys ! This death was again needless. How many will follow ??? Hope the things will change even in the Indycar series. Or the fans want this......

  • so sad...

  • The worst year in the F-1 was in 1994. Senna and Ratzenberger died. After this the things changed complete. The race tracks they use were reconstructed. Many things for the save of the drivers were done. They built a group of drivers any year, they say what is to risky on the track, what must be change on the track.

  • First sorry about my english. This is typical american style. Faster, higher...I am german and a F-1 fan since many many years. Looked enough Indy-races too, until eurosport and DSF stopped to show them. Business as usual or ? How many Indy-drivers lost their live in the last 15 years. TOO MUCH !!! The american sick thrill ??? Themes so....

  • please for a little girl watch?v=UqVYUzHc5L8

  • one more time this is the result of idiocy with oval racing without safe breakout zones like in F1.

  • R.I:P

  • THANK GOD THEY DIDN'T KILL ANY SPECTATORS.

  • @PostToastie COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE.

  • "He's dead"

  • Ban IndyCar racing? You cannot be serious....can you? There are 2 major flaws with IndyCar. 1. Your head's stickin' out! Put a roll cage around you...it's just stupid not to. 2. Stop running on these kinds of tracks, I like watching these guys go 230+, but it's going to catch up to you. Only reason Nascar can sustain such crashes better is because they have a full roll cage. Take a bouncing piece of brake rotor of the helmet at 200 mph....no thank you.

  • In addition what a needless tragedy.

  • it's what happens whens there's no run off for damaged cars and no arnco barriers, over 200 mile an hour in repetitive circles accidents like this are just waiting to happen, at least in nascar the cars have a rollcage.

My Opinion ban it, americans want to see formula style cars racing; watch formula 1 like everyone else in the world.

  • @Dauntless62 he knew the risk when he decided to race. Im not being mean but he knew what he was getting into. all racers do and thats why they do it RIP dan

  • @Dauntless62 Don't forget that people have died in Nascar and F1 too. Massa was nearly killed a couple of years back. Sometimes shit just happens. This was a sad accident, but it doesn't mean IndyCar racing should be banned. I do agree that running a 35+ car field on such a narrow, high banked race track was a bad idea. As for F1, we don't really get to watch it much over here because they always show it at bad times (too late/early), and we don't have a driver to root for. Indys all we have.

  • @agilefalcon16, not to bicker; but the last f1 death was senna 16 years ago, a great tragedy that brought f1 to it's sense. since then no driver deaths because the drivers have forced an agenda on the sport to make it safer on both the cars and the track. Theres an american f1 next year in dallas, as for drivers my favourite driver isn't one of my countrymen I like him because of his style. Complaining that f1 isn't on at the right times seems a pale excuse as it is truly an international sport.

  • @Dauntless62 but this only my opinion and i'm not a racing driver only a fan who sees too much death on american circuits.

  • @Dauntless62 I'm not complaining about F1, all I'm saying is that racing in general is an inherently risky business. No matter how safe they try to make any kind of motorsport, accidents can still happen. Simoncell's death in the MotoGP race yesturday is a tragic example. As for F1, my favorite driver is Jenson Button, but I don't think the sport will really take off over here until there's a good US driver (not like Scott Speed) for the general, non-hardcore racing-type population to root for.

  • I'm sorry if i over reacted there, you're right for f1 to truly take off in the states you guys need some home talent to come into f1 maybe one of the six of Germans in f1 will give up a seat (we can but hope!), my favourite driver in f1 is Kamui Kobayashi.

  • @Dauntless62 Haha, nah its alright man, there's no need to apologize. I thought you were really fair in your responses. And yeah, I think Kobayashi is a good choice. His aggressive-style of racing really is fun to watch.

  • Y the hell are people liking this video?

  • o kurwa!

  • What is the point of this sport?..... what a waste of life...

  • R.I.P. Dan Wheldon! What a terrifying crash! :-O

  • when the us learn to cut down the cars on track .their lost to many drivers but their not top class drivers like in f1

  • was this filmed live when it happened and you just happened to capture it on camera or was this played back?

  • that crash was pretty depressing cause u know someone must've died or become permanently disabled.

  • holy shit, thats fucking harsh :(

  • Commentators called out his number fast. In the midst of all the mangledness, they spot each driver well.

  • i dont like fast cars because fi u drive fast 99% chance of killing your self i like slow cars drive them fast

  • Wow, this looks like a dangerous sport. One car makes a move and a crash is imminent.

  • HTF? (how the freak)

  • Dan Wheldon - a talented individual who died far too young. Rest in Peace

  • NO QUISO DESACELERAR Y LSE MATÓ, _:( QUE DOLOR.

  • @ MARXISII Because they are going 250mph, people can barely drive at 30mph so imagine how fast the reaction time was.... indeed RIP

  • @fredz23 there not going 250 more like 210-220

  • @MrThatguy122 can you react at 210 that fast I really doubt it

  • HD my ass. This is crappy ass quality.

  • @kingalfx his TV is HD dumbass

  • @HBKbandit Who cares if his T.V is HD? I want the video to be HD, dumbfuck not his T.V.

  • This shows how dangerous these kind of races can be! But everybody knew this.

  • He caused the accident by carelessly cutting in front of another driver...

  • @baritji you piece of scum

  • RIP Dan Wheldon.

  • @10vivek10 anyone else died in the crash? If yes then RIP to them too

  • my god, it happened so fast... i had to watch it several times to even see what happened...

  • I bet his blonde girl was all like "GEE HE'S GONNA WIN" then she was like "O SHI-"

  • Owned

  • jesus :(

  • isn't that what y'all want to see?

  • Fuck me... one minute he's there on screen viewing, the next he's gone :( so sad!

    RIP fella!

  • time to BAN oval racing...this is possible only in the US...no safety

  • @georgelopezblows same shit to me man. a death is a death :/

  • lots of thanks andan

  • F1 is about real driving.. maybe u yanks should try it! u may even win something.. serious tho.. lets take a moment and think about the grief of loved ones.. x

  • @FamilyMan67 Indianapolis 500.Pinnacle of motorsports. You have what? Monaco.... please.

  • @Baritji - You, of course, are nothing but a low-life wanna be Muslim, who has no future, no life, and no prospects....why don't you go blow yourself up...putz! I pity your Father, he probably thinks everyday, what a mistake it was to have had sex with your mother the night you were conceived. Rats have a higher standing in life than you do.

  • @Baritji Nice. Way to blow any bit of credibility or knowledge you may have brought to a racing conversation, especially on a video depicting the death of one of the greats of the sport.

I would go on to question why you feel like noone in the world has ever heard of Indianapolis, especially when drivers from around the globe work their entire lives to get a chance to compete their. Or why even still millions of fans from around the globe fly to Indy every year to see it.

    You. Need. Help.

  • @Baritji Ever notice how people who use the word yank are either inbred or at least semi retarded.

  • Ban car racing, people die

  • those type of tracks are built for stock car raceing, not indycar's. they need to fix the problem befor they race another again

  • @pjcerda1186 Take a chill pill!!!

  • @georgelopezblows haha ur rude men

  • :/ sad... but, you know, "at least he died doing what he loved"...

  • Vegas is becoming bad for ones health in the racing industry

  • SecondAmdmt, that will never happen as long as there are "5 million reasons" on the line...i'm a huge sports fan, NFL, NHL, MLB...own so on, but I just don't the the risk justifies the return. I never really understood the sport...but the crashes seem to be the only form of excitement...just listen to the announcer on this clip and how excited he got at the first sign of rubber burning...but I fully respect your love for the sport, striclly speaking as a sports fan.

  • RIP Dan Wheldon

  • So sad. My heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of Dan Wheldon. RIP <3

  • Omg

  • God bless all drivers and there families.

    RIP Dan

  • I want to know what ass clowns took cyberbully 1-6.

  • R.I.P Dan

  • ...when does sport go too far?

  • @fadootz It's racing, it's the big risk drives take in sports like Indy and Formula 1...granted Indy could learn a few lessons from F1 in regards to safety but no ones invincible practically racing jets on wheels.

RIP Dan, Heaven has one hell of a driver up there with the likes of Senna now.

  • @fadootz when people refuse to play

  • Wow, cyberbully sure his a cyberbully. What a bully...of the cyber variety. It's like cyber sex, but he's bullying...cyber bully. Mocking a dead guy race car driver the day of his death...TOON SOON. Only a cyber bully would have the audacity to say that and not face consequences...what a cyber bully.

  • @cyberbully7 tell that too his family you piece of shit.

  • @cyberBully7. Your such an ass hole I wish I can kick ur ass. I hope one day u get beat the shit out off. Dan Wheldon was a friend to everybody he will be missed. Your the biggest ass hole in America

  • not to sound like that guy but, Hd?

  • RIP WHELDON

  • oh my,. just heard. cant believe this cry ... omg

  • Brazil cries for this terrible loss. May Wheldon rest in peace. May God be with his family.

  • RIP Dan Wheldon. You were a great driver and will be missed. I LOVE YOU

  • RIP Dan Wheldon, you were a great driver

  • There's a dude named "Will Power"!!!!

  • May God be with your family and friends during this tragedy. Prayers are with the weldon family and the indy family. RIP you were an amazing driver.

  • Certainly no time for pointing fingers, but some of the drivers did not show respect for the others here. Either way, Dan was a great driver and let´s all hope the 5 million dollar reward didn´t cloud his judgement. Stupid reward really, might make you wanna take risks you usually wouldn´t.

  • Very tragic!!! RIP!!!!
