sublime has about 10 great songs. The rest are pretty mediocre. 311 has about 80 fuckin sweet songs (and another 40 great songs, all in my opinion, better than sublimes 10 great songs. Brad, Nick, and SA's voices are one of a kind and fuckin cool, but what puts 311 clearly above and beyond sublime is their instrumentals. 311's instrumentals are just fuckin so bad ass. Just listen to the end of this song, its a cover to a really simple song yet they made the ending amazing

K lets just be honest on this song, 311's is way better. The ending of this song is one of the greatest segments of song ever, its so fuckin well done. 311 turned a pretty basic song into something really damn impressive and like magical. This song fuckin kicks ass. Mahoneys kick ass guitar, chads fuckin chill drumming, and Nicks line is fuckin impressive. This is a damn overlooked song even in 311 fan's minds. It just takes a little green substance to make you realize this shit

i agree, not completely though. not any 311 song is amazing, like waiting off evolver sucks hairy unwashed balls. 311 is by far my favorite band, its not even close, but a little weed smoking really does make especially this song fuckin unreal. if you're baked and crank the ending of this song up on nice ass speakers its like fuckin magical and it will blow your fuckin mind. most 311 songs are just bad ass and damn good, but the ending of this song is fuckin amazing genius shit

@AftershocKGV Sublime didn't just cover songs, they had a ton of original stuff, you probably just haven't heard it. 311 is just not as vocally talented, nor do they have Sublime's sound. But if you like them, go ahead and keep listening. It won't bother me.

well, they fused punk/reggae and hiphop in live sets which no one did during that time. They took original songs, made them their own, and in the end, they were usually better then the original

@AftershocKGV Yes they are all awesome bands! Sublime pioneered the Reggae, Punk, Hip Hop sound into a nice package, and if you add Brads energy and lack of inhibition it was an inevitable recipe to reach the mainstream.

im gunna have to agree with you on that sublime had many diffrent sounds ska rock punk with a mixture of rap sublime did start a new sound movement but ilove 311 also.. sublime may have covered alot of songs but the way sublime covered it often sounded better than the originals also brads voice was amazing and he had a great tallent for improvising

both versions have their high points....like the delay on the drums/ambient sounds on 311's and the singing/bass line on Sublime's. Both really good.....

For sure man..Music and Roots had their own thing, then blue was a transition album, then transistor and SS were just simply AMAZING! But, Rolston left prior to From Chaos , hence the absence of that trippy wonderful 311 sound ....

yup bad brains self titled album released in 82, sublime didnt even form till like 88 and 311 around the same time actually. I do prefer the bad brains version the best because its the one im the most familiar with, but i wouldnt say any of the three versions sucks
