  • I don't think weed is religious, weed is spiritual.

  • Where can i find more music like this song? I like the trippy delay shit.

  • @Sindoko12 you can, you are only scratching the surface of roots reggae when listening to bands like 311 and Subline. Listen to the chillest reggae bands out now like The Green, Irie Souls, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and The Black Seeds. <CHIIILEST ROOTS EVER

  • @Sindoko12

their entire transistor album has a trippy vibe to it and is an amazing album. grassroots is really great too!

  • Delay heavy...i can dig it

  • sublime's live version fucking kills this

  • Ganja in the house

  • I just smoked a bunch of weed now i'm too lazy to get a job or an education i'l just sit on my lazy ass and play video games and look at porn at eat potato chips all day, and live in my parents basement, i'll just send my life as a fat lazy good for nothing loser. Wow, isn't weed wonderful!?

  • @HelloFade2 Suck a dick bitch, And burn in your own Babylon mother fucker.

  • @HelloFade2 lmao maybe that's what you do maybe u smoke mids? shit haha shut up you fucking government minded dumbass burn some good cultivated cannabis . i got a job no girl and i live on a beach. so you go back to ur big city and choke on the smog

  • @HelloFade2 dude...weed is so much more than that...it frees your mind...it enhances..cultivates... expands....weed is religious...without boundries...it sets you loose...cmon man...

  • but your money's runnin....

  • Legalize it! Don't let your people die from big pharma, don't let da badman take away your kids and fill their minds with murder!

  • not many things i would rather be doing than listening to this in my car fuckin cranked, playing along to chad's snare that is practically part of my soul, the trippy ass guitars. the bass is so damn smooth and clean. the last two minutes of this song take me away to a different place

  • that snare drum just sends me to outer space

  • I don't need weed, I just listen to this and I'm dazed

  • great song

  • representing my town of omaha.my boys make me proud.

  • I love tim mahoneys guitar. jajajajja

  • Shrooms are better. Acid to dangerous to the brain.

  • 4 people are sublime fans that think sublimes version is better

  • i want 2 take shroomz r acid to this shit

  • @0420Marijuana yeah 4:01 minutes worth hhaha

  • nick hexum is also wearing a bad brains shirt in the amber video

  • Well that was pretty awesome

  • Hey everyone arguing. Shut the hell up and enjoy the music. 311 is all about Unity, not fighting over who's better.

  • mann this reminds me of that one dude the Scientist. greaat shitt

  • 311 and Sublime w Rome should do a live version together on Unity tour.. or at the Pow-wow festival !!!!!

  • thank you highdea's, and for those of you who dont know::

highdeas.com you will never be bored again

  • I used to smoke weed to this. Classic!

  • This is a great cover of Leaving Babylon but i dont hear the same soul in this song compared to Brads version of the song. If you told me sublime and 311 had covered this bad brains song and then told me to pick the better version there would be no question sublime played it with more passion and soul.

  • @fortyniners1515

yeah 311 doesn't really focus on the whole "passion and soul" thing. 311's more focused on making this a fucking dope trippy song, which they did. I mean 311's instrumentals are just out of Sublime's ballpark. You haven't heard this song until you've heard it on a nice soundsystem. The last 2 minutes of this are fucking mind blowing

  • @fortyniners1515

passion and soul? i prefer trippy and fuckin bad ass to having "passion and soul"

  • @jhaz89 can one not conclude that to some perspective, those could be attributed as each other in some context? sorry, dont know the convo, just saw this post.

  • dudes right why does there have to be a camparasion between 311 and sublime because Bad Brains invented the dam song so they get all the cresent fresh points for this jam peace.

  • dude, damn good video and a fuckin masterpiece, when i do shrooms soon i'm listening this song. i've listened to this song so many times, and in my car this shit sounds unreal, especially while high. but drumming to this song is so chill, chad sexton is fuckin good at what he does. 311's instrumentals are just fuckin amazing. the last 2 minutes of this song are so bad ass and a masterpiece of music, 311 is by far my favorite band and have bad ass songs, but this is just fuckin genius composing

  • Comment removed

  • dub for life.

  • good feeling you cant change that

  • Best song rewritten period

  • If you're gonna make the point that this is the only place for the correct lyrics, I'm gonna make the point that the lyrics are "you ain't got no Gold to show"

  • sigh. ive been doing physics problems for three days this weekend. i just wanna smoke a j and listen to some tunes and jam.

  • shit compared to hr

  • And as a fan of all three, I think Bad Brains are the best, most likely a psychological thing. Out of the three, they were the more recently discovered (2 years) so that explains why I like them a lot. I've discovered 311 and Sublime much longer than that, so the novelty and listening experience of when I was discovering their songs has pretty much worn off.

  • I grew up listening to Sublime, then 311, then finally Bad Brains. Used to be three of my favourite bands. I barely listen to Sublime's first album anymore, just Robbin The Hood and their Self-Titled. Those two are always good to listen to every once in awhile. I still listen to some 311, I think their old stuff is awesome. I still listen to Bad Brains, and only their early stuff too. All three had terrible and good stuff.

  • that snare drum takes you to outer space

  • Thumbs up if you burn a ganja to this.

  • @Glyvxx every time I read this comment I want to like it... but im normally to stoned to remember to hit the button. hah

  • 3 people don't want to leave Babylon.

  • 311 is the love of my life.

  • This versoin sucks man you gotta listen to stick figures version

  • sublimes cover is way better. these dudes are balls

  • man youtube seems to slowly stop being filled by hateful comments, people are arguing less and just spreading positivity more, its very nice to see

  • @kurdtkobain674 stfu faggot

  • there are two things i love right now this song and this sandwhich

  • the 311 crop formation is cool as hell

  • holy shit wheres the link to that pic of the 311 logo with all the animals and shit around it... o.o

  • lol @ 1:14 to whenever.... P-NUTTTTT WHERE ARE U GOING :(

  • good cover love 311

  • sublime's is way better. this dude just doesn't have the amazing voice that brad does. Never really liked 311

  • @MrJaxwin ur a faggot.

  • @MrJaxwin yeah, brad has the slight edge on voice, but 311 are musical genius' and 2 voices are better then 1!!! SA SUP.

  • First off, I do like Sublime, but their reputation is so inflated. Sometimes, I think the majority of Sublime fans trick themselves into thinking the band is so much more "legendary" or "revolutionary" than they really were just because Brad died. Their cover of this song is basically exactly like the original. To me, any garage band with a decent singer could have done it, yet people seem to think it kills 311's version. I don't really understand it.

  • @Dontlookdownkid04

any decent singer could've done it. but brad is an amazing singer and that's why it's better than any other version. all of their cover songs are way better than the originals.

  • @Dontlookdownkid04

its 100 percent because sublime fans only want to listen to brads voice, they would probably suck his dick if they had the opportunity. 311 is just a band where either you love them or hate them. sublime is pretty much one style, reggae, and a lot of their songs sound very very similar. 311 is way more diverse so people who want one certain sound of music are going to hate 311. fact is 311 has about 80 great songs, sublime has about 12

  • I love both 311 and Sublime, but why do people always compare them? I understand the comparing in THIS VIDEO though, because they have both covered this song.

My point is that 311 started as a funk rock band. They were both formed in 1988 and they share reggae influences, but that's about it...

  • justin beiber is awesome in this video

  • @sustajim omfg rofl u got me dude nice one

  • The comments on here must be from 17 year olds. This is a Bad Brains song. Most bands cover songs to honor the original artists. Yes, Sublime covered it too. You obviously have had very little exposure to the Bad Brains. I'd suggest getting "I Against I" so you can learn who influenced the bands you like and made them what they are.

  • Who did the original to this song?

  • u cant even omg wtf u cant even compare 311 and sublime. but imo i like 311 more. theyve made more music. but anywho... ya 311 is their own genre and sublime was punkrock ska reggae.

  • this is a bad brains cover. not a sublime cover.

  • Awesome video! Love the pics and effects! Good work! Also, this isn't really a cover of a sublime song is it?! I WOULD BE PISSED IF IT WAS. but ive listened to 311 forever and i dont remember them covering sublime?

  • Why are we arguing over who's the best? Sublime is a ska band, and 311 is a funk driven rap-rock band. I mean, you can have an opinion, but that doesn't make either better. Just enjoy it and love it. I'm sure Brad and Nick would approve of that.

  • ndlaxball2: nahh dood bad brains is original but good mix

  • this version is mo betta

  • the instrumentals at the end of this song are fuckin amazing, 3:01 to 3:46 is the best segment of the song, 3:15 is the best part, fuckin unreal song

  • sublimes live version to me is unbeatable. but this one alright ha.

  • p-nut, beat that thang!

  • i like 311's version but i think sublime did it the best....bradley is a beast

  • its nice to hear different variation of this song.

  • This is my favorite song off of soundsystem

  • This is awsome, straight up

  • I always skip over this song to get to evolution or eons or anything after this song. Cool drumming though

  • one of my favorite songs ever

  • Marijuana and psychoactive chemical inspired music

    Peace

  • your dollar dollar droppin down real low HAA

  • @RATMFAN tooo tru brooo any dub is a good dub :)

  • good but not bad brains and definitly not HR this guy duznt even sound like hez trying on vokalz there's no soul in his voice

  • trippyyyyyyyy :)

  • all you haters, how can you guys be the chilled out tokers that listen to these 3 bands? 311s version is my personal favorite, but that dont mean sublime and bad brains version arent as good, they all have their own style, much like all you cats should. so relax, start this song over, and light that spliff up braah

  • Comment removed

  • This cannot begin to compare to the original Bad Brains version.

  • yeah it cant be compared because its way fuckin better than the bad brains version. i know that bad brains has the true Jamaican soul in their song but 311 just turned a simple little reggae song into a fucking masterpiece. You have got to listen to this song loud on nice speakers with a quality sub woofer, of course listening to this song on shitty computer speakers with youtubes shitty quality is going to take away from it, and it does a lot. also smoke a bowl or two just for good measure

  • and what if bad brains could afford the quality? this version is shit.

  • @jhazlem calm down.

  • God I love dub music... good vibes to chill out to.

  • Captainfrat said that.... Im glad there are people who can see the truth, about many difernt subjects..

Captain must be just deft or blind dunno..

    And Sublimeforecver5 you know , how it is = ; )

    Peace

  • 311, Sublime, and Bad Brains would all laugh at you donkeys arguing over stupid shit these bands all have original sound and soul chill and listen to the music for what it is keep livin and rockin!!!

  • @Johnivthegreat In reality you're probably right, they would likely just laugh

  • @Johnivthegreat Right? It's good music. Listen to it. Enjoy it.

  • @Johnivthegreat So true dude cause the basis for all these bands to me is to make a sound that not only can have a message or story to tell but is also a sound that makes the body, soul, and mind wanna chill and enjoy

  • Why does this have to be a comparison of 311 and sublime? They are both great bands. But as much as I love sublime, most of their shit was cover songs, so how did they start a movement of sound? But anyway they are both fucking awesome and stop comparing them!

  • you're using cover songs as your point... but you POSTED 311 covering a song. 311 is good. sublime was incredible. thats that.

  • Comment removed

  • sublime has about 10 great songs. The rest are pretty mediocre. 311 has about 80 fuckin sweet songs (and another 40 great songs, all in my opinion, better than sublimes 10 great songs. Brad, Nick, and SA's voices are one of a kind and fuckin cool, but what puts 311 clearly above and beyond sublime is their instrumentals. 311's instrumentals are just fuckin so bad ass. Just listen to the end of this song, its a cover to a really simple song yet they made the ending amazing

  • @jhazlem Lots of Sublimes songs you would say you've never heard.

    I suggest Ebin?

  • K lets just be honest on this song, 311's is way better. The ending of this song is one of the greatest segments of song ever, its so fuckin well done. 311 turned a pretty basic song into something really damn impressive and like magical. This song fuckin kicks ass. Mahoneys kick ass guitar, chads fuckin chill drumming, and Nicks line is fuckin impressive. This is a damn overlooked song even in 311 fan's minds. It just takes a little green substance to make you realize this shit

  • @jhazlem nah i dont need any green to realize it, i'm that hardcore 311 fan outta all my friends and any 311 song is just amazing lol

  • @missykim9

i agree, not completely though. not any 311 song is amazing, like waiting off evolver sucks hairy unwashed balls. 311 is by far my favorite band, its not even close, but a little weed smoking really does make especially this song fuckin unreal. if you're baked and crank the ending of this song up on nice ass speakers its like fuckin magical and it will blow your fuckin mind. most 311 songs are just bad ass and damn good, but the ending of this song is fuckin amazing genius shit

  • what about Amber too? One of the gayest fuckin songs I've ever heard. I'll admit I like a couple of their songs, but they made a lot of crap too.

  • @AftershocKGV Sublime didn't just cover songs, they had a ton of original stuff, you probably just haven't heard it. 311 is just not as vocally talented, nor do they have Sublime's sound. But if you like them, go ahead and keep listening. It won't bother me.

  • @komedydude

not as vocally talented. lets hear brad do the singing on nutsymptom, or hydroponic, or brodels, oh wait he can't he overdosed on heroin. but 311 is just a harder rock band, completely different. nicks voice is better for rap rock, and just everything 311 does. brad wouldn't fit with 311, even though hes more "vocally talented" plus nick and SA both combine to be fuckin dope.

  • @AftershocKGV Sublime is no comparison for 311 they blow'em out of the water yes sublime ownz

  • @AftershocKGV funny because this is a cover of bad brains

  • @AftershocKGV i know right

  • @AftershocKGV

well, they fused punk/reggae and hiphop in live sets which no one did during that time. They took original songs, made them their own, and in the end, they were usually better then the original

  • @AftershocKGV i love sublime and 311 but 311 put more music out back in the 90s than sublime and i always prefered most of 311s music

  • @AftershocKGV Yes they are all awesome bands! Sublime pioneered the Reggae, Punk, Hip Hop sound into a nice package, and if you add Brads energy and lack of inhibition it was an inevitable recipe to reach the mainstream.

  • @VanMichaelsMusic I live in Detroit and both 311 and Sublime just did a show, and it rocked!

    -RIP Brad

  • Hey captainfrat, shut the f_k up....

How can you compare 311, that as all members alive..

with one band that had a few years of show....sublime made something greater than 311, they started a new movement of Sound...And that is harder than playing a cover in studio..

Dont Forget Brad Nowell and sublime bands creativity ....Sublime inspired many ppl and many bands....

  • im gunna have to agree with you on that sublime had many diffrent sounds ska rock punk with a mixture of rap sublime did start a new sound movement but ilove 311 also.. sublime may have covered alot of songs but the way sublime covered it often sounded better than the originals also brads voice was amazing and he had a great tallent for improvising

  • Whoever sed 311 is bettr then Sublime.. You must be really fucking stoned.. 'Cause Sublime goes wayyyyyy above fuckin 311.. >;) 311 is pretty good tho. Thats all i have to say. =)))

  • what is the point of arguing about stuff like that....you like what you like....other people like what they like...no one is right or wrong here. But at least 311 didnt kill themselves with drugs and have played for more than 20 years with one of the most loyal followings of this time period sooooo...............

  • Mkayy then [[dont rlly care :P]]

    ?? :/

I know but like--- Apparently you don't really know the history of Sublime.

    It was his dealer's fault.

    Jeez dude.

You must not know anything :) jk jk

  • @ CrazyGraceAce

actually i think if someone was stoned they'd love either version actually.

both versions have their high points....like the delay on the drums/ambient sounds on 311's and the singing/bass line on Sublime's. Both really good.....

  • Prefer Sublimes version. The bass really makes it for me, And I feel when Brad sung it, There was so much more soul.

    RIP dude

  • I think yall sould quit talking shit. This is a great cover and if you don't like it don't comment

  • they both ripped bad brains off...........yet all versions are good in their own ways

  • bad brains,311, and sublime(Brad) would laugh at you donkeys they all are sick they all have original sound and soul so chill and hear the music live and rock!!!!!!!

  • this guy is a fucking pussy bradley woulda fuckin killed this bitch

  • nahhh 311 sux lol this shit's like sum new gen ishhh,

subime woulda ripped this track if they had an original, check out the cover

  • Don't ever say 311 is better than sublime, that's a horrible thing to say.

  • Sublime's Version Is way better

  • 311 has a better cover of it. Just because 311 is so badass

  • :p love 311

  • Man i miss Scotch Rolston.......:(

  • Don't we all

    :(

  • first five albums are my favorite. did Scotch leave during or before from chaos album?

  • For sure man..Music and Roots had their own thing, then blue was a transition album, then transistor and SS were just simply AMAZING! But, Rolston left prior to From Chaos , hence the absence of that trippy wonderful 311 sound ....

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

    This is allllrite.

Can't compare it to Bad Brains though.

  • ofcourse not<3

  • nah, the sublime cover is even better i think. his voice just doesnt do it for me on this one :D

  • wow fail for those who think this is a sublime song.

leaving babylon was written by H.R. of the bad brains.

  • thats funny cause sublime and 311 are my 2 favorite bands all there songs are amazing

  • Dude they play a new version of this song at my work it sounds really weird. 311 plays this song the best.

  • dude sublime covered it and 311 is def NOT a fuckin sublime coverband nor have they ever covered a sublime song its a good song and 311 and sublime are both awsome bands

  • actually they did that acapella cover of what i got but other than that you're right, 311 is way better than sublime, even though sublime is good shit

  • LOL????

  • What a dumb statement.

  • all they did was the acapella thing and they were just fuckin around, you're a dumbass and i hope you die you fuckin pussy. peace out yo

  • @JTeachman you are a moron.

  • @JTeachman ok where the heck are you hearing that 311 is a sublime cover band??? and 311 is waaay better than sublime.

  • @missykim9 hahahahaha lmao 311 a sublime cover band. 311 is the greatest band around

  • @JTeachman this is a bad brains song...sublime was the cover band

  • @JTeachman this is a bad brains song...sublime was the cover band

  • @leothehero246

yup bad brains self titled album released in 82, sublime didnt even form till like 88 and 311 around the same time actually. I do prefer the bad brains version the best because its the one im the most familiar with, but i wouldnt say any of the three versions sucks

  • hahahaha jeez

  • bad brains <3 311 <3

  • 311 is a great band...one of the best!!! :)

  • This is good but it's not really reggae.

  • yeah it is, why wouldn't it be?

  • Its Dub
