That was beautifully put together. Anyone who would question why some of us live in the midwest only need watch this beautiful movie for an answer. Wonderful job on this reprise!!!
What a tremendous feeling you've given me. This video actually got me choked up. Spectacular job at conveying the emotion of both the music and the imagery. Great job!
The combination of the music and his incredible performance should be enough to make anyone emotional; doesn't matter how old they are, what gender, or when they're born. What an intense film, score, and video. Thanks for uploading, and R.I.P. Richard.
A fantastic movie from the story, music, photography to the absolutely amazing acting of THE MR Farnshworth. The end always makes me cry without being schmaltzy.... RESPECT
This is one of great movies that teaches me to do something until its done, to be stubborn, to finish, be strong and whenever You decide to do in Your Heart, should follow it, no matter what others say, a shining star at the end, imagining a reward at the end of the journey at the begining will bring You there, and with pride You will look back at the long winding road back. Then Realizing, when at Your destination, is just the middle of Your journey. But is easy, You come a long way,
Look at closely at Farnsworth's face...the history of 20th century America is written there. He personifies that which is best about America: quiet strength, guts, gritty determination, compassion, honesty, and self-reliance. May he rest in peace.
I love this film, anyone who can not see humanity, in the eyes of Richard Farnsworth,is without feeling,.truly wonderful acting, of a good story,..I too had to walk 500 miles, for a similar reason,.along the coastline of the U.K...this bought tears to my eyes,.God Bless both, Richard, & Alvin,..
After a decade, still an stunningly moving motion picture. Representing the best what Farnsworth and Lynch had in them. Shivvers down my spine! Thanks for your hommage to this epic piece of movie history! Greetings from the Netherlands!
This was richard farnsworths last movie to play, and he is playing his role as if he knew he didnt had long. he's not acting, he just IS. this is a movie everybody should see........
I saw this film recently .. and I am so much moved .. the stillness of the movie and the music is just mesmerising .. great movie .. and great work by 'Richard Farnsworth ' .. thanks for sharing the link .. and your editing is really good.

@wyup i just hope someday people would actually start moving to my town :( cuz we have a REALLY small school and like in maybe 2 years we may be having to merge with another school :'(
The only thing that's a bit confusing is the music if you compare it to the original soundtrack from Angelo Badalamenti. But hey, all in all a great job!!!
Beautiful music for a beautiful film..I still love telling people to watch this movie! A very pure film, faultless in fact! They don't come along like this very often! Thankyou Lynch/Farnsworth ! Many blessings 1
It is one of my all-time favorite movies, just like you...
This 'let's get f*ck' out of here' movie, I LOVE IT, I'll never be get bored of seeing scenes from this masterpiece, ever... Every time I watch it, at he end, I'm trying to prevent myself from crying, it is such an impressive movie... Very good to see someone like me from the end of the world, thousands of miles away, thinking so similar to mine, thank you! And sorry for my poor English :P
It's a great movie indeed. I have had several of my English classes see the movie and do some writing on the lessons Alvin Straight can teach us. They invariably feel touched and write such beautiful essays!!
Encontrar. you made an incredibly good job with this compilation of images from the movie. but say, is this music from the movie? i don´t recall it... i just recall the nice country music. but this fits very very well, too.
it has been years since i have watched the movie but at the end of this clip i had again tears in my eyes... as if i had watched the complete movie. thank you so much.
a unique movie: tranquil, wise, heart-touching. it just makes you want to be a good person.
Oh . My . Gosh!!! SkyAboveWater, your reprise version has tears streaming down my cheeks! You've compressed all the poignance of this eloquent epic into one powerfully mighty nugget. Very well done!!!
Lindo! Uma lição de vida. Nos ensina a ter perseverança e a seguir nossos objetivos quando o mundo não nos apóia. E o Richard Farnsworth fez uma ótima atuação, é uma pena que não esteja mais entre nós.
This is life in the slow lane...this is what it means to love, to persist, in the face of hardship, of judgment, of old grudges. And to keep love burning, to put aside, to let go. A tribute to what fillmmaking can really be. Bravo, Mr. Farnsworth and Mr. Lynch and all involved. My deep gratitude.
I feel the same. All the family I care about lives about 80 miles from where this was filmed. I'm stuck in England with me and this film, it could be worse. Thank you Mr Lynch.
... The most ugly of old age is the memory of when you were young ... No one knows your life of a brother who was almost your age, know who you are and what you are better than anyone else .. A brother, a brother.
Wow ! Great movie. David Lynch build & manage a true-life story, away from those visionary works made him world famous. Whats remain ? A touching, ironic and going off the deep end movie. Once again thank you.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MOVIE! I started crying as soon as i saw the first scenes of this video and the most heartbreaking moment is when he calls for his brother,(3:43) you can see in his face he's not sure his brother's still alive! The look on Alvin's face at that moment can't be taught at any drama school. It's something that you experience. Brilliant film...
Well done... you &)"(ç"! bastard pulled tears out of my eyes ! ...
I saw this film almost ten years ago ... I was 15... alone in the theater. Got out depressed and at the same time happy. Since then, I am thinking where I wish to end my life... what would be my last journey.
Me & my family all get together to watch this film it sure does hit you right in the ticker. And I would do the same for a family member or someone in need no matter how many miles it takes and It sure does show the values of life. Once again a very beautiful film
contrary to first appearance, this is not about some forrest gump mower-on, but about what is truly important in life. guess what? no explosions, mayhem, adultery or million dollar special effects. could be on to something.
I'm exactly the same way, we all should be, I would crawl many many miles to help somebody or get someplace but even those closest would just say to you, in your face "you can't walk, you'll die out there."
What's happened here to the world guys
ignore all of the troubles ahead, you can get where you want to go.
It is greate movie, it shows beautiful values of our existence... 'people say that is so boring, film about nothing-they say' but their wrong, wyh? they didn't understand this true History of Mr. Alvin
I'm so angry and sad: why Kevin Spacey got the oscar for that stupid american beauty and not Richard Fransworth for this movie. It's simply not fair...
Do you think the movie The Straight Story challenges or supports stereotypes about aging? Give at least three examples from the movie that back up your position.
As a follow up, watch Lynch's interview with Magnet in '01...
"Man On Big Tractor is God. Alvin had to confess his sins to be forgiven. The motor had to brake short of his goal. Man On Big Tractor is God in Alvin's likeness...Alvin only bigger. And I wanted to afford this man the dignity of confessing his sins to God in private which is why the camera pans too far away to hear his confessional. All we need to know is God saw him worthy of forgiveness because he was willing to accept none."
Do you think the movie The Straight Story challenges or supports stereotypes about aging? Give at least three examples from the movie that back up your position.
fantastic heart felt and warming film about real people and set at life pace. ( if you cant sit still for five minutes go and watch some trash instead. a chrismas must to watch with your dad or grand dad
I'm speechless everytime I watch this. It shows the simple people who make America to be America. Strong will people, brave people. Touching, because it exposes hard feelings about life. :'X
Very good words. America is much more than Mc, Bush and stuff like it. Hopefuly, better days will come, with the next presidency, perhaps allowing people to find out more about America.
That was beautifully put together. Anyone who would question why some of us live in the midwest only need watch this beautiful movie for an answer. Wonderful job on this reprise!!!

Not one of those crappy average action movies with zombies, but a real movie with a great story that makes you think about life!

One of only 3 movies that makes me cry every time. That final scene where he pulls up a chair and sits down on the porch is magnificent.

The greatest secret about The Strait Story is Lynch's admission in 2001 about The Four Metaphors...
#1- Teenage runaway pregnant; his advice to her is the father he wishes he'd been to his pregnant daughter.
#2- deer struck scene; life too hurredly led.
#3- Runaway truck by fire; alludes that his grandkids were burnt in a fire accidentally lit by him passed out.
#4- Graveyard scene; reckoning of mortality.
#5- Big Man On Tractor; is God, forgiving of sins, miraculous healing.

I'm speechless everytime I watch this. It shows the simple people who make America to be America. Strong will people, brave people. Touching, because it exposes hard feelings about life. :'X

Your comment is so true, and beautiful.
It's the reason why I'm so in love with America. It fascinates me. Unfortunately, people don't get it and only see Bush, McDonalds and superficiality.

Very good words. America is much more than Mc, Bush and stuff like it. Hopefuly, better days will come, with the next presidency, perhaps allowing people to find out more about America.

This moved me so much. Richard Farnsworth was such a great, subtle actor. May he rest in peace.

one of my favourite films ... it's like a star in heaven, it lasts.
And it gives deep respect for the strength of old people.
Thanks for loading up!!
