Poor guy. :( Sorry you lost him. Usually that kind of activity is swim-bladder related, or could be problems with the fish understanding how to orient itself properly right-side-up. Brain tumors and swim bladder infections/growth problems are common with fancy goldfish. I have a red cap named Ichi who is a total clown.
@KillKyleWeiss Thanks...I do think it was swim-bladder....unfortunately I think I realized that too late and there was nothing I could do in the final days. I tried the remedies I found for swim-bladder but to no avail.
@1SugarSpunHun i think these are the corkiest fish every though.... they have red and black ones at my PetSmart i so want one they help ich and snail parasite infection tanks. Sorry for the loss, my snail ate my two marigolds i was sad :(
@TriskaidekaPunk Sorry for your loss as well...I had no clue a snail could do that. I want to look for a companion for my pearlscale, but I haven't found one I like. I'm pretty picky, it pretty much has to be love at first sight when I chose a pet. Eventually I will find one :)
