My aunt's a professional pianist and when she plays this piece, it sounds great, the little nuances and technical bits are all there, flawless. But even then, it lacks that certain soulful quality behind it, the kind that makes the listeners heart resonate.

And then when I watch this video, the pure emotion on Joe Hisashi's face, the passion he pours into his playing, makes it far far more beautiful and far more heartfelt.

He is truly great.

Hisaishi's all time masterpieces, imo, came from Spirited Away. All of them have resonated in me in some way or form. The inherent Japanese feel of the songs so different from my background make me appreciate their uniqueness all the more, and listening to them always makes me feel transported elsewhere for all its magical qualities.

May I just say how much Joe Hisaishi has touched peoples hearts. I know it sounds like another cliche, but i didn't realize the massive impact this song can promote to people until i was playing the piano to my aunty and i was going through piece after piece until I came up to One Summer's Day. When i turned around after i played it, she had tears coming from her eyes, but she denied it and went to the bathroom to clean up. I was in shock, and then it struck me, that Joe Hisaishi is a God.
