@hotpants69 welcome aboard th' ol' Waylon bandwagon. Waylon was th' bonafide outlaw. He fought th' system and won! I think you will be pleased with what you hear, waylon could sang th' phonebook and it would sound good. He was one helluva man,he was a straight up guy. He is truly one of akind.
Waylon is a REAL COWBOY!!! I live on Phoenix. My mother in-law told me she used to go to the honkey tonk he talks about Green Gables in Phoenix way back when!!! Waylon burried in the Mesa City Cemetary just a few miles up the road from me. This guy is the real deal.
hearing these songs makes me wander why the hell am i goin to college and thinkin i was born a decade or two to late i tell u some times i fell so damn out of place walkkin around on campus it aint even funny
Country Music: Pay attention, this is the best and only. Somehow we lost sight of great music. Favorite band is Megadeth and this is awesome. Cool, but also aggressive. Mellow, but also to the point. Simple and very easy to connect to. Too bad we dont have anything like it anymore
Man, we need more singers like this. I'll admit that I can stand a couple, but no one can sing like this anymore. Mainstream country has turned too mainstream and heavy. I listen to a lot of country like this because its smoother, no loud banging drums and shit. Closest country comes to mellow now is islander, like Jimmy Buffet, love him too, but I used to just sit back and relax, smoking with friends and unwinding to this song.
I can't count how many nights I'd just jump in the truck and cruise down them old country roads with a lot on my mind playing Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash.
its just the best country thats not fake! why argue? anybody can lie! makeup shit not waylon, life is the best story evry told if you know how to ezplain it.....but you will not understand unless you understand!!!!!!!!!
coming from a 23 yr old that hasnt listen to much country at all, started listening to waylon by mistake about a yr ago and he is easily in my top 5 best artists of all time. guy sang about some real sh*t
@mrnorffeh. I couldn't agree more. and that goes for alot more of those "ole school" guys. Im sick of this new style Im in love with these guys and always will. I do like some new stuff but you can't beat this style. here it is come and get it. what it is, is what it is. LOVE IT!

@dhawk32568 Sorry I didnt realize I had to be a fucked up thinking christian to enjoy good music...and Ive never ridden a skateboard or roller skates for that matter, I never had the proper equilibrium for such things...and let me add that it really sucked when I was invited to birthday parties at the roller rink when I was a kid...pure hell I tell ya
This has to be one of my favorite Waylon songs.... written by Steve Young. Interestingly enough, Steve Young's son has that Waylon sounds. Genuine, Soulful, Dylan-esque Voice! JubalLeeYoung
The Mushroom Cowboys are trying to bring back the real honky tonk the way it should be. people still love it when they hear it. just seems no one is doing it anymore.
Love this song. Waylon Jennings was deffenately the bad ass outlaw. It's an outrage that they called Elvis the king when it was Waylon who was the king. I myself sing and write songs and am egnored by the industry but thanks to guys like Waylon Jennings I could cair less. I may not play guitar like him because I play piano, but I make music for the common man and don't give a shit what the industry thinks and to me that is what made him an outlaw and that's what it's all about. .
@MrHoss87 Elvis came into his own earlier than Waylon did. Plus Waylon was outlaw country and Elvis was Rock n Roll/Rockabilly. I personally think that either the killer or Bo Diddly should have had the title of king of rock n roll.
@kjm0227 All were highly influential. To my ears though Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly sound more Rockabilly, John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters are blues. Elvis's style wavered between multiple genres. If the contest is to be the king of Rock n Roll, they should have a firm root in the genre so I say bo didly.
There will never be another WAYLON JENNINGS!!!! As close as it will ever come at this time is Jamey Johnson and he still isn't the prime grade of WAYLON. Close yes but there NO way. I like Jamey listen to "The high cost of living" kinda sounds like WAYLON a little.
WAYLON was deffentily in a catorgery of his own and he did make the title of Outlaw music. I think CASH had some to do with the title also but WAYLON rocked it for sure!!!!!!!!
Waylon is just so god damned bad ass you cant even put it into words.
This man is the true epitome of what a bad ass out law Man is supposed to be.
Dont take it wrong but maybe its good he wouldnt compete with todays country, because hes to much a bad ass to be a sell out. So he isnt up there with billy gay cyrus, but Waylons name will live on as a name to fear and respect forever
Jesus second coming as a warrior will be blasting Waylon Jennings songs from the sky
Waylon said it himself (a few years before his death) that he would never make it today in "country music" (please note the quotation marks) because he's not (or ever was) "pretty" enough.
I think the rot in "country music" (there's those quotation marks again) began with Billy Ray Cyrus. Billy's daughter is no gift to music either.
The rot in country music began long before Cyrus. It started way back, when male country singers could be seen on TV wearing sequins, rhinestones, and pink leisure suits. It was arguably this "glam" that brought about the backlash of "outlaw country". The rot continued into the 80s and 90s as country developed both a "dress code" and a "sound code", where all the singers and songs looked and sounded the same.
It would be cool to see Outlaw Country rise again.
@sneric401 I grew up in a place called Norco in California that tries to be a pseudo country town. I was surrounded by "country" folk and hated "country", that is until I heard Johnny Cash. That was way later, though.
People, ignorant people, consider this stuff "old" and according to their bullshit judgement that means less good. Waylon is "old" just like the other old classics throughout the 20th century..
Just getting into him to be honest and I like what I hear.
IT's comedic that somebody tried to put Toby Keith in the same sentence, in a positive light and using the same adjective, as Waylon Jennings. Toby Keith is the Nickelbach of country music.
Waylon was the real deal. What you saw is what you got. He didn't try to look bad, he was bad. I don't know who in the hell could fill his boots. If Waylon came on the scene today, he would get nowhere because he's not nearly as polished as these phony-assed pretty boys wearin' clean cowboy hats, pressed western shirts and playing shiny guitars.
@MrNorffeh your probably right..Nashville has always been about the dollor. but rock being so big and out comes Mtv and music row got so damn jealous they had to turn country into a flashier show..outlaws and singer songwriters like Waylon todays hide out in bars and county fairs but have a strong following...the best usually do rise...Shooter Jennings is a hell of a muscian too!
@MrNorffeh i couldn't agree with u more, this man was born in Texas and lived through hardship and tragic event that could have happened to him and he sang about it these city slickers are singing bout how hard life is, and how country they is('if you got say how country you are your probably not hoss" walyon), when there driving there Mercedes through the city to an 8 million dollar mansion, will someone tell whos the outlaw that will walk through Jessie's dreams, and kick Nashville's ass
@MrNorffeh That's the reason he was the "Real Deal" as you called him. When he arrived in Nashville, they didn't like him, or his music, because he wasn't polished as the 'phony-assed pretty boys' of the time (just look at the rhinestone suits that everyone else was wearing)..But Nashville liked the fact that his records sold. And they sold so well that he tore Nashville down. He was THE reason music row closed, his contract did away with 'The Nashville Sound'.
Waylon did for country what Elvis did for rock n roll, he had the right combination of vocals, energy and a unique sound, when it was needed the most. Just my opinion.
Thats a terrible comment. Fact is Elvis had a one way golden ticket, Waylon has had the doors slammed in his face till the day he died..............Nashville told him to go home for over 40 years. You can't compare the too, the playing field is not even close to level.
@akb330 actually your whining because you have a hard time trying to marginalize any idea of God by trying to frame Him as a "guy hovering in clouds". when actually you desperately need to study the philosophy called objectivism.
Therefore, just because something is silly to you, don't be such an arrogant fucking narcissist and think others should instantly see it your shallow and futile way
Not to mention you opened this can of worms, now crying because you got called out on it fucken crybaby
@brandonhornsby you take this whole youtube thing to heart huh? philosophical debates on Rand and the whole nine yards...over a post you find as whining...yea you win...hands down you are the superior...anyone who goes out of their way to post that over "you list a mythical figure over your dad?" that wasnt even directed to them to start with may want to step away from the pc for a bit...lmao.. wow
@akb330 Does it suck to be a retard? I'm just wondering. You're obviously a pansy, liberal, d-bag. I'm a God fearing, hard working, Clint Eastwood loving American and it feels great. I was just wondering how it felt to be a whining, sissy assed dipshit?
@HomeCRAFTON11 my comment started a debate about religion on here. everyone has their right to believe whatever they want (atleast they are supposed to here in the US of A). people should respect one's beliefs unless a religion tells them to harm people if they don't agree. i really just wanted to say how much i like Waylon. to me he is up there with the very best of all time.
now her hair was jet black And her name was codeine she thought she was the cream of the baine street queens she got tired of that smoky white dream began to feel lonesome on'ry and mean
I always said that this is one of the "Hardest" country songs ever. This is definitely one that you can use to get people into country, especially Outlaw/Texas music. Waylon IS unbelievable
another great song by waylon, one of my absolute favs. There just aint nobody like waylon nowadays, everything sounds the same but this, is just amazing
just heard it on radio few minutes ago, but that version was a bit more rock sounding,.. guitars, solo's , etc. (nevertheless titled as 'waylon jennings')
now her hair was jet black N her name was Codeine, She was the cream of the Baine Street Queens, Started looking lonesome,On'ry And Mean, We got together N we cashed in our sweeps, gave them to a beggar who was mumbling through the streets, theres no escaping from a snowy white dreams, oh with that lonesome on'ry and mean
Look closely at the picture... It moves some... Waylon is still Jammin!!

Thats a terrible comment. Fact is Elvis had a one way golden ticket, Waylon has had the doors slammed in his face till the day he died..............Nashville told him to go home for over 40 years. You can't compare the too, the playing field is not even close to level.

@akb330 you still being a passive aggressive bitch whining again?
brandonhornsby 1 year ago
@brandonhornsby Im whining because I think believing in an invisible man hovering in the clouds watching over all of us is fucking silly? Ok...
akb330 1 year ago

@beltonmarty This is the best comment i've ever seen

@HomeCRAFTON11 my comment started a debate about religion on here. everyone has their right to believe whatever they want (atleast they are supposed to here in the US of A). people should respect one's beliefs unless a religion tells them to harm people if they don't agree. i really just wanted to say how much i like Waylon. to me he is up there with the very best of all time.

At dawn i pray, to the Lord of my soul
I say do Lord, do right by me

I always said that this is one of the "Hardest" country songs ever. This is definitely one that you can use to get people into country, especially Outlaw/Texas music. Waylon IS unbelievable

what an awesome tune :)
just heard it on radio few minutes ago, but that version was a bit more rock sounding,.. guitars, solo's , etc. (nevertheless titled as 'waylon jennings')
someone knows which this could be?
perhaps a new version recorded by him?
retrospection69 3 years ago
Probably the one he and Shooter cooked up years ago, but just released a few months back.
