Amusing seeing some older comments made when (presumably) Adele just broke the US. Adele is a huge talent (& this song isn't flattering to her tbf), but to claim she blew the others out the water here is farcical... She's a slightly better songwriter than Winehouse IMO, but Amy owns this set completely without question. Huge voice, vibrant performance, & showcasing why she was the de facto leader & original of that Brit Soul lot. Anyone who thinks otherwise watches far too many talent shows...

@irada20 I'd rank 19 as a much better album than Frank, and Back to Black as a better album than 21. So it's 1 all in that regard. Adele has a much wider chord range in her songs, but Amy's lyrics, for the most part, are much more poetic. Whatever's in it is marginal. But it seems more than likely that Adele - almost by default - will outrank Amy through body of work alone. It's all subjective of course.

And ofcourse, it was more jazzy. That's why it didn't succeed that well. Experts loved it, but ordinary people missed modern sound I guess. Adele will do well. Everything will be allright with her. She will create more beautiful songs. But she will never be as wicked, cynical and tossy as Amy was. And that's make me cry...
