Flash tutorial: Buttons (Non-Advanced) With Actionscript

I've got all the script in and the button works, but when I test it and click on it, it doesn't go to the second frame. Any ideas?

what is the root_ part of your code?

my button works fine in edidting but when i test the movie the finger does not pop up and i cannot click on the button,

i have a stop in one layer and the button in another, both on the same frame (happend to be the last frame of the scene) the button is to take me to the first frame of the 2nd frame

i had the same problem then i found out that this is in actionscript 3 i (think) so change it to actionscript 2 then add the event to the button not the frame

How do you make a flash button in Flash CS3 Pro? I click on the button like I use to, Click on the action panel key and boom says cannot add script how do you add them to items

well....in CS3 which is what i use NOW...

i would recommend using ActionScript 2.0 not the newest version...=)

Make your button, select it, and press F8. Select button, choose a name, and enter it. then, press F9 (brings up the action window) and paste

on (release) {

_root.gotoAndPlay(2)

}

The number after gotoAndPlay corresponds to the frame you want the button to take the viewer to, example, _root.gotoAndPlay(54) will take the movie to frame 54 when pressed.
