  • 2:07 if it wasn't in 240p, i'd bet that this would be gorgeous bokeh

  • I'm going to go back to school for this....I'm tired of thinking about it!

  • 8:03-8:11 thumbs up if you thought something was wrong with your headphones....

  • very nice,for beginners like me :D

  • Depth of field is not a focus technique.

  • It got the 90s feel..

  • i had to stop watching after 10 seconds. Too dizzy.

  • I like it, its a good video for up and coming film makers to take into account what shots do what, and what shots create what feelings, like your two shot at 1:51 and your high angle shot at :52 are more for Drama, face to face at 1:47 seems a little more playful. these are all important features to a bigger picture. By the way, your "Depth Of Field" shots are called "Rack Focus" Depth of field simply suggests the way you can use a zoom lens to flatten you image, or create depth to your image

  • So cool viedo!!!!!

  • cool!

  • nice techniques

  • what name of video effect 8:31 ??? :)

  • This is a great video but 240p! Come On!

  • @joshmvfx reading your comment makes me sad, cuz thats about the highest my vids go =(

  • @joshmvfx its from 2007

  • @joshmvfx It was taken in 2007.

  • @joshmvfx It was uploaded in 2007... Almost every video had 240p back then :)

  • @joshmvfx Once upon a time when youtube was a young sprout you could NOT upload higher then 240p. Flash Player was not capable of playing anything higher. I

  • @joshmvfx kinda ironic since this is about filmmaking huh? haha

  • @joshmvfx ikr! But this was made in 2007. Pre-historic times in YouTube history.:D

  • @PianoScience

True. I don't even think you could upload anything greater than 340p back then.

  • dude i like the first one when it's spinning how do i do that? :B

  • Did you see? The lighting shots could be used to do biology! Why? Did you observe the shots with eye, how the pupil focused at amazing precision and speed????!?!!?

  • Wow...& this video is almost 4 years old !!! lol

  • Why did you need to edit it with Premier Pro lol

  • @iGeniusHD

    Why wouldn't he?

  • @iGeniusHD Premier Pro is what a lot of schools use. Even Colleges! I'm using it to edit the movie I've created, glad to see other people use it.

  • Can anyone tell me how to do the transition at 7:30??

  • @bruvvamoff

Shoudl be a simple left/right shift considering the speed of the camera movement during the scenes. The fx should have the same speed changing the pictures. It's also cutting not only fx. I'm an amateur, so.. :)

  • how to do a depth of field ?!

  • @lelocedo You can create a fake depth of field look in a few editing programs, After effects and such, The best looking way is you need a camera that you can control the focus on. Canon DSLR cameras are great at this because of all the different lenses you can put on the camera, you adjust it so the object you want is in focus and everything else is somewhat blurred out.

  • @JONathaNandspermette Can you please tell me can i do it with this camera :

    toshiba p10 ...??

  • @lelocedo Well with a Toshiba p10 that is basically what is called a "pocket camcorder" cameras like that are great for just shooting without worrying about the focus because it has an auto focus feature. You cannot get a depth of field look because you cannot manipulate the focus on that type of camera, sorry.

  • @JONathaNandspermette

Not the lenses, the size of the chip determines the shallower depth of field!! One of the things the lens determine is the quality of the blur (bokeh) and the focal length.

  • this is so 2007

  • @Brijanoslav Your comment is so 1 day ago.

  • I Love Coldplay!!!!!!

  • Clocks!

  • We do these in film. Revision time...

  • You learned well, kudos to your instructor.

  • Haha,nice.

    Answered some of my questions.

  • Nice informational video. A note for you, looks like the person in the Green Screen example was too close to the green screen because the green had bled a bit into the shadows on his neck.

  • @ianchristie1972 a little trick he (or whoever is going to do this) can do is add a little ligting from the bottom facing up.. so that the light would shine under his chin and therefor eliminate the shadow, but then again if there were no lighting from the top-down to compensate for the shadow that would come on top of his head from the bottum-up light, he would have the same problem just with a bigger shadow x)

  • 240p, we meet again.

  • Thank you!!Very helpful

  • why was the headroom close-up a headroom? that's not headroom when your chopping off the head, but well done! looks quite old now but the basic are there.

  • im not surprised its this popular! this was great!

  • Very helpful. Thanks to you @alfredbrownjohn. You are a such a nice guy. = )

  • i have premier elemnts 9 on my pc which is similar to premier pro but does anyone know if its possible to ultra slow mo in premier elements e.g. inception when the van falls in the water etc or is the choppy slow mo traielr style slow mo the only avalable option in premier elements

  • @MrInception12 no you cannot get good super slow motion with just premiere but.. there is a plug-in for After effects and sony vegas pro and maybe other editing software and its called ..... Twixtor ..... with that plug-in you can make a second of a video last 5 minutes or more =]

  • @MrInception12 It will look bad unless your filming with a high frame-rate camera, which generally costs £700+, £10,000 for a decent one. You could alternatively look into software like twixtor!

  • What is the very first effective called?

  • wow, really nice for some one like me interested to learn.. can u post some video techniques on horror/scary film making..

Would be cool if you could cover all effect in sony vegas in the future to. Thx and nice video!

  • @Bollalillo theres no difference per say...green and blue are not going to be present in the human skin so removing them would be easy...either work well!!

  • @alfredbrownjohn Perhaps more journalistic techniques as well? Love the video though!

  • @alfredbrownjohn Congratz on the millionth view. Suggestion, maybe go over the 'objective, subjective, pov' camera angles described in the 5 C's of cinemaography. That would help because I am still a little confused as to the difference between subjective and pov.
