This version of SUMMER OF LOVE (The original version that was on TIME CAPSULE) is best because it has the atmospheric beautiful guitar hook that Ricky had come up with. Warner Brothers had butchered the song when they released the single for BOUNCING OFF THE SATELLITES.

Agreed, that Cindy W. is a vital component of the B's...still, it's great to hear & see them do this song so well, 1 of my faves which (to my knowledge) has not surfaced much in performances since the "Cosmic Thing" tours of '89 &'90. I had the good fortune to see the band do it then (w/ Cindy)...& to see them again last nite, w/ her & this drummer--anybody know his name? He totally drives their show(along w/ Tracy Wormwood), & they were great...BUT THEY DIDN'T DO THIS SONG! Still: B52s 4evr

No offense to Gail Ann Dorsey but it's obvious how much CINDY was missed!

Cindy adds the high energy, edgey/funky fun quality to the B's.

Cindy's voice is so diverse she can sing in so many different styles--as she's proven over the decades and B-52 albums. Cindy's voice is really a signature quality to the B's sound.

I love Kate, but without Cindy this song definitely lacks the beautiful eatheral quality it usually has.

The B's aren't the same without Cindy.

You know, I'm going to take the very unpopular opinion and say that I much prefer the Bouncing off the Satellites version. I know the original (and the one which appeared on Time Capsule) has more "Ricky" in it, but I personally think it's inferior.

Yeah, I /LOVE/ that version! Bouncing off the Satellites is such an amazing album; currently my favourite. (Although the title "favourite album" alternates between The B-52's, Wild Planet, Bouncing off the Satellites, Whammy, Mesopotamia, and Cosmic Thing.)

She left the band for an album or so when her brother and B52 guitarist Ricki passed away.

Cindy's brother, Ricky Wilson, died of AIDS in 1985.

Singer Julee Cruise filled in for Cindy Wilson on the 1992--1993 Interdimensional Tourgasm, as well as the band's summer 1999 tour, when Wilson went on sabbatical. I'm guessing this is their 1999 tour (Video dated).
