Great trailer -- it does the movie justice, has a wonderful musical score, and it's got that epic feel to it. Some trailers are better than the movie, but fortunately, this wasn't one of them.
Great movie... updated version. Ignore the haters. I have been a ST fan for years. Of all shows. And this movie was done very well. JJ Abrams did a great job....
Did any of you ever watch the original show from the 60's?
I thought that with this movie they took out all the classical or Shakespearean influences and in the big hole where that was they put in Melrose Place. This is what ST would look like had it been produced by Aaron Spelling. But since he's no longer with us, I guess JJ Abrams will have to fill his shoes. Or his loafers, maybe.
I watched the original all the time growing up as well as the TNG, and a few of the other shows... Thought this movie was great. If you don't like it, don't leave comments. I'm glad someone came along and gave ST an update. It was fading fast because it was a copy of a copy. Same damn thing everytime. This movie gave it new life. So go back to your Dick van Dyk Diddly Doo crap you've got saved in your favorites and Shut up. Just my opinion, and you're entitled to yours....
Didn't watch much Dick van Dyke, my sisters liked that. Sending the 'diddly doo' (as you put it) to them, they liked it. Shut up yourself. I liked Mary Tyler Moore. But still could never get all the way through any of her shows. TV just too dumb. Only show I could get all the way through was the original Star Trek. The only thing good about this movie is that maybe some Melrose Place fan might discover the original. Maybe 1 in 100? More of my opinion, fuck your entitlement?
This movie was hilarious. I don't know what everyone's so mad about. They did their best to make it respect the original, and if I have to see Scott Bakula one more time I'm going to vomit. Anything is better than Star Trek Enterprise, even an alternate-reality whatever the heck it is remake of the original.
Don't like the bridge. Should've made it look like a slightly modified version of the the 60's bridge instead of just another clear plexiglas-video display nightmare that will look dated in five years. Think I'm wrong? Watch 'The Fifth Element' now. Not 'timeless', 'silly'. TOS has yet to be given it's proper homage. They got it right here with the multi-color uniforms, but this Enterprise's interior looks like
every half-rate sci-fi movie from the past twenty years. Instantly forgettable.
Sorry, me no speak butch 'tough' guy. Keep cruising, though, if that's the right term. Don't want to discourage you from finding your 'true love', I guess? Hey that's cruel, I'm so sorry. Wouldn't want to offend any delicate (or "leather") sensibilities, but someone had to explain the Village People to me, I just didn't get it (still don't). Really, I seriously don't want to offend. You can tell I'm sincere, and I accept that you guys have the right to go looking for
Star Wars my ass! Fuck George Lucas, Trek will always be on the front line for fresh perspectives. You're a fuckin dinosaur. You can't even make that kind of comparison between the two, they're on their own completely separate and respective levels. What you and your mom did last night was Star Wars 7. Live long and prosper... MOTHERFUCKER!
