I never got anything from your video. What's your point? You don't like white girls or you don't like "their clubs". I'm white, I have lots of friends from other races and religions. I don't judge a person and there appearances I judge a person on their values and their actions.
Now the names thing. What were you getting at? I have a Jamaican friend I call hershy kisses. It's not a term or hate it's a term of endearment. He's yummy and sweet like a hershy kiss. I also got white friends who h
@Pawneestud White people just might be getting ahead because they are white. Have you noticed what "blacks" have gone through throughout the years? Race is real! Don't think black folks haven't formed their own community, CHECK OUT 'Black Wall St.'
Pilar Ossorio a legal scholar, microbiologist and bioethicist states that race isn't something biological, it is a social construct. We all have diversity and I personally believe environment plays a huge role. A "spanish speaking" person should show courtesy to a non-spanish speaker instead of making assumptions based on physical features. Since when did spanish speaking folks think that they all look the same to confuse black people with being spanish ? Misconception
Light skin vs dark? Lol it's funny how you guys are really taking the time to debate this subject. White people don't talk about stupid shit like this. I guess that's why they run the world. Stop focusing on color and stick together BLACK people. Maybe you guys can get somewhere too.....just maybe.
and the sistas try to feel in my curly hair, "oohhh you got good hair"....yeah it's on my head! of course its good...its not thinning or sparse, so yeah its good! ?? What the hell is "Good Hair"?? if its on your head, and plentiful..its good!
also...lol...this one was funny...one sista said to my brother, cause of the light skin woman he was with "ohhh my nipples to dark for you or something??"...that one was like "whoooaaa"...lol. Yet the darksin beauties give no time of day to the light skin blackmen...interesting.
Ps..."if you got a head full of hair..you got good hair!! on the contrary, if you bald u got no hair!"
as a light skinned black man (both parents black), i love all shades of black women..ALL!! from the deep dark skin, to the mocha skinned, to the "hi-yello", to the light skinned. Its interesting that the darker skin women i particularly like, dont like the light skinned black man (but they do love the dark skin negro for some reason), which is fine. I ain't "butt-hurt" over nothing, period! Just finding the intra-racial prejudice interesting...
@T74G That's interesting you said that. Because most of the dark skinned men I know are not interested in dark skinned women (not for relationship ...maybe for booty call only). So all of these dark skinned women you know who told you they don't like light skinned men, what dark skinned men are they dating??? I'd really like to know. In my experience on the west coast and the south, I've seen many dark skinned women with light skinned men. Is this issue just in your town or just w/you?
as i mentioned i could really care less, the immediacy of my concerns have zero to do with skin colors of any sort...lot more interesting things going on than that! However it has been experience, and its fine!! i never was insulted, just observant, always objective, and just found this video interesting in subject matter...i personally have no quarrel with anyones choices for whatever reasons they want to do it...i always tell people.."do you"..and mean it!! all good!
too me....i could care less!! light skin, dark mocha..i dont care what their preference is!! like i mentioned...juts found it interesting...as i continue in my walk in this life hopefully to Heavens door steps.!! thats for real whats important to me...date who you want to date, do what u do! i definitely have my personal preferences...
@crazy4corbinbleaux THANK U!! my boyfriend is from Uganda and he's the same shade as Shira so the comment that only dark skin are really african is BS
@Lydiatomson98 she does look like she could be spanish because in ny there is a high population of pple from central america.she is saying pple generalize her race on what state she is in.shes not trying to give herself "props" just stating a fact..but she doesnt look all black because society doesnt recognize "a true black person" with being light skinned.its ignorance because i have a friend who is from africa and is my complexion. I get Asians who ask me the same thing.
@Lydiatomson98 To be honest looking mixed is subjective. All people look different. "Mixed hair" is 3c/4a which most black women have. So how do people look mixed?
Some light skinned women are not like that. Thats the stereotype. But us light skinned women get it rough because of our color. We are all not what everyone seems. Its not our fault that this is the way God made us. Its not our fault that men might view us attractive over the other. Has anyone ever thought that this may be the reason why we stick together? It hurts when we get treated wrong by dark skinned women because of others shallow preferences. It hurts.
@leahmarie901 I'm a dark skinned black man but I do understand what you're saying. However, the mistreatment goes both ways and we must not forget that.
I like this chick. Can't believe this really goes on among LS chicks but I can't say I'm surprised. Living in ATL, the colorism is so bad. I got Negros who start pick up lines with.. "Normally, I don't talk to dark skinned chicks but..." A community truly lost! What did Harriet Tubman say again: "I saved 1000 slaves. I could of saved a 1000 more if they only knew they were slaves."
@Boobombastic Damn that's deep as hell. I want to put that on facebook but people will get butt hurt you know. That saying applies to EVERYTHING nowadays. Race, dating, self-hatred, music, the economy, etc.
Go girl..This is wisdom rooted in God. God made every one equal, we are ONE BLOOD(Acts 17:24-26) and the RICHEST and WISEST man who ever lived was BLACK(songs of solomon 1:5-6) There is no difference between light and dark skin, or white, we are all ONE(Romans 10:12) thanks for posting this.
@Africanstar6 "true Africans are dark skin not light skin" I come straight from Africa, thank you very much, & I am 1 shade darker than the girl in this video, but I know I am 110% African. I KNOW where I come from, unlike many AfricanAmericans who don't know which part of Africa they are originally from. Now,you're telling me just b/c I am lighter skinned i'n not a true African? The darker woman to my left is more African than me? Wtf? What ignorant, brain-washed people there are these days.
WHO CARES "what part of Africa they are originally from"?!
More than 70% of the people of the ETHNIC group misnomered as "African-American" have LESS that 50% 'Black-African Lineage' (i.e. they MULTI-Racial) -- so IT MAKES NO SENSE for ANYONE to EXPECT them to have some sort of an 'obsession' with their African lineage while IGNORING their NON-BLACK lineage.
Why do Africans always seem to expect Multi-racials to obsess with African lineage & ignore their other ancestries?!
@APGifts All I was pointing out in my last comment was that the claim "true Africans are dark skin" is pure IGNORANCE. Who ever believes that is a confused soul who needs to do some soul searching. Africa is a CONTINENT. Not a COUNTRY. There are 52 different countries and thousands of distinct ethnic groups, you can't expect us all to look the same. A light-skinned Ethiopian is JUST AS "TRUE" AFRICAN as a dark-skinned Nigerian.
It goes to show that light skin so called are just like the biracials stuck up and any way light skin so call black women are not black they are biracial
I am light skinned and this is not true for ALL white or light skinned girls out there. Maybe some of these girls u hung out with werent raised properly. I was taught that every person is equal no matter what, as should everyone. It's things like this that keep racism alive. Cut it out people!! Were in the 21st century and this shit needs to stop. You need to stop pointing fingers at all light skinned girls because this club may exist (although I've never encountered it), but not just EVERY whi
wow....thank goodness my family never promoted that type of foolishness. black people all over the world come in all shades.people in every culture have been mixing with darker toned peoples since the beginning, it's history, it's a fact, and cannot be changed, it can only be learned. and any "privilege" associated with having lighter skin is a fallacy that person will learn really quickly about once your around non blacks. js. >.>.. :/ promote love ppl. peace.
This has been going on since slavery. The so called "pretty light skinned" blacks were the hose slaves and the darker skinned blacks worked outside in the fields. For some reason this mentality is still in ppls minds, black and white, that lighter skinned blacks are "prettier." I have seen gorgeos darker skinned blacks and ugly ass light skinned ppl. I am usually put in the "lighter skinned" catagory (nt as light as shira, tho). Bottom line, WE ARE ALL BLACK!!!! We come in all shades, all beaut
The idea of the 'light-skin house / dark-skin field' slaves is a MYTH.
History shows the enslaved people (on the antebellum-era, continental U.S.) w/ a lighter-complexion were actually treated MUCH WORSE than were those who were of a darker-complexion; most White people of that day viewed lighter-complexioned enslaved-people as ‘mongrels of miscegenation’; insisted that they be“banished to the fields”; & purposely held 'big house’ positions (ex. mammy, cook, driver, etc) for the darker ones.
I'm from Ohio too! Northeast though, never noticed this whole light skinned thing til I left Ohio. One of the more entertaining videos on the subject though; most people are too scared to really talk about the subject they mumble and fumble around the topic.
This is do true. Light, dark , brown, etc it doesn't matter because we are all a shade of black. It's really sad but I'm glad your doing this series. Keep up the good work :D
Thanks for his video...maybe we can heal....however, what's quite surprising is that we as browner skin women don't think that much about light skin women...I don't anyway. I think my skin is really beautiful and interesting. I'd imagine I'd never establish a "club" to "separate" myself from another group. Why would a "lightskin" girl club exist? Is it to grab limited resources (jobs, money, black men, etc). Why...might there just be some insecurity among lightskin women for some reason?
@mcyoya1 very strange, but very prominent part of our culture to this day... there is a book called "color complex" i read it for my dissertation... u can refer to it if you would like to read more on the intricacies of this phenom that dates back 200 yrs
I feel where you're coming from, but this is not an African American Issue only. As a Black Hispanic man I've been with Hispanic Women and I've been with African American women as well as White American Women. And one thing that I've noticed is that women in this society have huge hang ups when it comes to body image and the way their perceived by others.
So they create a faults perception of themselves to fit in depending on the culture they were indoctrinated in. My Point is that this behavior only leads to a faults sense of self with leads to self hatred of ones self.
@SugarFreeTV If many light skinned women like their fair skin why is it that most light skinned black women tend to date, marry, and/or have kids with dark skinned black men. I've noticed this over the years. it does appear that the average light skinned black woman will usually be with a dark skinned black man. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just something that I've noticed.
As a light skinned girl w/ long hair, I can say this "club" really exists. Anyone sitting around pretending like it doesn't is only lying to themselves. Society tells us that lighter is better. Society reinforces this idea that light skinned black girls are prettier or better, and some people really begin to believe it. Dael Orlandersmith wrote a play called "Yellowman" that won a Pulitzer Prize and it talks all about colorism in the black community. It's a real problem
@LanaLove23 She doesn't literally mean a real club. It's just what she uses to categorize these light skinned females who have the view point she discusses in the video.
I date brothers, white and asian men. I am a Hebrew Israelite woman who give all men a chance. I notice how alot of us sisters usually play hard to get when white and asian men try to ask us out to eat or dance. We black woman need to change this and even let white and asian men into our lives. We light skinned sisters cannot discriminate because we were once discriminated against.
your the Girl I want to make love to. Its just turns me on cuz I know u would appriciate a dark skin man were it wouldn't be a discomfort to both parties. I love your mentality. I like girls of your complexion but i be Psychological stagnated when its an issue of what complexion I am. However I never get to meet them much when in the same token their right under my nose. It hurts but you seem warm. I would like to meet u girl for real.
Spanish people come from Spain, in Southern Europe. People who come from Spanish-speaking countries are NOT "Spanish" people; a large percentage of them are of Spanish descent, but that doesn't mean they're Spanish people. That'd be the equivalent of calling me British, because I speak English.
Men, nowadays, are lucky if they can get in the cut. Alot of women nowadays want to cockblock and ballerblock. These stuck up sisters need to stop trippin too and jus move on and show some love.
I dont think its about race no more but I see where you comin from with that though. There are whites nowadays that are still racist and still acting the fool. But they need to move on too. Regardless, I make my money fucking the brothers, white and asian men too.
More and more white and asian men are fuckin with sisters nowadays So we as black people jus need to be more accepting of these changes. White men can be jealous all they want and shit. I think white and asian men really love the sisters deep inside.
Um all light skin women do not have long hair. I'm brown skin and have very long hair down my back so to associate light skin and long hair is ridiculous because I have seen plenty "red" girls that were bald head as hell!
Everything is a problem. One could NEVER be too dark, too fat, too intelligent, nor too caring due to these prejudices. Fuck it! Why can't I just be myself?! Why can't we embrace our own diversity without classifications and categorization?
We light skinned sisters need to give these white men a chance to prove themselves so probably if they lucky these White and Asian men can tap our light skinned asses and get they swurve on too.
@mochamami916 your comment about how if classifying herself as black makes her feel better than do it struck a nerve with me simply because the FACT is according to the US gov't any persons with 1/36 african american blood in them will be classified as an african american. So rather it makes her happy or not she is black according to the laws of this nation.
The racist One-Drop Rule (ODR) was BANNED (by being ruled as UNCONSTITUTIONAL, and thus, ILLEGAL) waaaaaayyyy back in 1967 --- by the U.S. SUPREME COURT in the 'Loving vs. VA' case (which annihilated the 'VA Racial-Integrity Act' and the racist 'One-Drop Rule' on which is was based and also eliminated ALL anti-miscegenation laws).
In addition -- it was the 'BLACK-RACE / AFRICAN' lineage --- (NOT 'Mixed-Race / African-American' lineage) --- that the 'One Drop Rule' measured.
The government-based definition of African-American is:
"An ETHNIC (not "race") group composed ONLY of those people who are 'The-Descendants-Of-The-Survivors' of the continental U.S. / antebellum era / chattel-slavery system.
Due to the 'survivors' of this 'system' being of varying 'races/racial-admixtures' -- the African-American Ethnic Group has NO race/color-based "requirement" and it's members can consist of ANY group of 'racial-categories'."
im a brown skinned girl with nice long hair. but they think im mixed beacause A. my is a yellow bone mixed women and B. they don't think a girl with my skin color could never have real nice hair unless i was mixed with something. I think that the whole black community has some self hatred issues going on
I took offense to this seeing as how i am a brown skinned female with real long hair. I get that from my mother and she's lighter than you but not as foolish as you. you see unlike you she's not small minded and actually has common sense. you sound so stupid right now. lmao.. maybe you just have self hatred issues idk and I don't really care.. I hope you find yourself
i took offenese to this video beacuse im brown skin and have real long hair thats actually real. which means i dont wear hair weave. your a red bone chick and my mom is a yellow bone woman and she has a brown skin daughter which is me. just cuz your lighter dosen't mean your better. in my opinion I think your very small minded and stupid.
shes really kicking some knowledge. its the same with biracial " black men". and theyre "unwritten rule". they all role together, and are united by they love & hate that insecure darkskin people have for them.
@watchMEshyne I've noticed so many light skinned girls roll togethor and there is not a single dark or brown skinned women in the group. The dudes do it too and thats some straight gay shit. Feel sorry for the younger generation. Y'all have it bad.
Of course you can have your own opinion, but I'm light skinned, lighter than you, and I have light family and friends and there is no "club". People just assume light skinned girls are stuck up or are elitest, but really that's just your own perception or your own dealings with individuals. All I'm saying is I've had PLENTY of dark skinned people call me names and tease me so don't put prejudice on only light skinned girls, because black people have color issues- light and dark.
Your point that black people are all or mostly mixed regardless if they are light skin or dark skin is so true! According to Mark Shriver's DNA study, the average African American is 78% African, 18.5% European, and 3.5% other (Mostly native American). Also depending on what African tribe you are a descendent from, will determine if you are more likely to be light or dark skin. Ghana people have extremely high levels of melanin, but Igbo people have low levels of melanin (for a West African).
Mark Shriver's 'study' was PROVEN to have been published prematurely & no other geneticist has matched the prematurely-published results of his very limited 'study'.
The studies by Dr. Luigo Cavelli-Sforza (Executive Director of the Human Genome Project & The World's Foremost Authority in the field of Human Genetics) on the Ethnic group now referred to by the misnomer of 'African-American' have been validated by geneticists worldwide.
Dr. Cavelli-Sforza's studies are regularly featured on PBS.
Dr. Luigi Caveli-Sforza (Executive Director of the Human Genome Project & the world's foremost authority on human genetics) has both tested and proven that +70% of the "African-American" (AA) Ethnic group have a continually-admixed full ancestral lineage consisting of +20-30% 'White-European' & +25% 'Amer-Indian' bloodlines.
This means the 'AVERAGE' (+70%) person with two (2) parents who are both members of the AA Ethnic group actually has slightly LESS THAN 50% 'Black-African' blood lineage.
@APGifts Good post. I've heard of this study. Thanks for breaking it down. I'm going to research further. Most American black people have the idea because they're dark skinned or even brown skinned ... that they must be 100% black. When the truth is a person who may have light skin could actually have more true black/African/Hebrew blood than a dark skinned person. (I mentioned Hebrew blood bcuz the ancient Hebrews were black...read 'From Babylon to Timbuktu' by Rudolph Windsor).
I think a lot ppl w/ the negative comments aren't really listening to your msg but I get it and can relate (as someone that is also fair skinned). Can't wait for you to do some new videos :)
This isnt true for me... Im light skinned with short hair and I was teased by dark skinned because I was so light!!! I wanted so bad to be darker !!!!!
ooooh I used to HATE light skinned girls. I got called midnight all the damn time an I'm not even that dark. But over the years I have learned to except my complexion an I'm a piece of chocolate. I love it lol
Thank you for articulating this point so concisely...you would think that which such an effective descrption and explanation that there would be no confusion BUT obviously some people's ideologies (rooted in ignorance) are too solidified for them to take anything in... Can someone say aggravation?
I am a dark skin girl in Texas. I have lived in the South my entire life and I have always heard you are cute for a dark girl. I always saw growing up the lil light skin boy or girl getting a little special treatment from the teacher or manager on jobs for that manner. I use bleaching cream and why is that considered self hatered that I want to be ligheter?!?!....Whites Tan to be darker and they dont say they self hating? I am going to keep bleaching my skin until I can get close to yellow!
@mymarkis666 Hopefully FDA would not put anything on the market that would do that to your skin and if it would make me a yellow bone first I may would be up too it.
@nickelwindow53 If it really worked it would be a lot more well known than it is. But you should be proud of your natural skin colour, not trying to be something you're not. People are lightskin because they have white blood from their ancestors being raped from slavery. Now you're here complaining because you don't have slavemaster blood in your system? That is truly sad.
@nickelwindow53 in the uk they try their best to stop the girls tanning because its just as bad as bleaching
the result is cancer either ways. so continue watching everybody else instead of embracing what makes you unique fuck special treament the whole world is not like that we need girls like you to pave the way so its easier
for girls of darker shades to be successful on their own. so be you darling its all youll ever have and need to be a success.
Finally someone I can relate to!!! I worked in a grocery and the number 1 question that I was asked was not "Where's the milk" but "Are you mixed?" I'm like why can't just be Black? Guys would hit on me just because they thought that I was an "exotic mixture of different races" but as soon as they found out I was "all Black" they wanted nothing to do with me... And I think one of the hardest part about being Light-skinned is not being accepted by your own people... smh..
oh, also, i liked how you spoke, but werent rude or condesending. I braced myself, because alot of the times, when the subject comes up about mixed/lightskinned girls up, there is alot of anger and hate coming from the speaker. When I say hate, there are those who will jump to the defense saying, Im implying they are jealous. Thats not what I mean, I mean there is a real sensitivity there with this issue. i do hate though, that alot of times, I'm judged before hand, by any race, color ect ect
oh come on shira.. join us,, give in,, lol,, no i love this vid, its awesome, you def called me out on some things, but you know what? i think alot of it has to do with the fact that the black community puts us on the pedestal. I believe its becuase society brainswashes us to believe whiter is better, thus lighter is better,, thus lightskinned/mixed is "better". I love your vid!
Me as a black female who just happens to be light-skinned. I feel that I have alway wanted to be brown so that people wouldn't ask me if i was mix or for other black people wouldn't assume i was in the "light-skinned" girl club . All races are mixed.
I have noticed their is so much self hate in the black communities because every part of us is judged our color, hair textured, if we have lighter eyes we are deemed more attractive. I have taught myself just to see the beauty of t he diversity.
@AllthingsSweet22 you don't know me or them. Therefore with all that ignorant name calling and capitalizing your words, the only person making themselves out to be an idiot is you..
hatin' on someone's race, colour, sex, gender whatever it is, is wrong on any grounds everyone should just respect each other and move along. hatin aint gonna feed you or pay your bills or make you better when your sick and it aint gonna make you successful or happy in the long run.
Yes... call the folks out!!! I know what you are talking about... I'm light skin and I have been around girls like that. My father schooled me when I was young about how people would perceive me because of my light skin. He told me not to fall in the trap like so many of our light skin sistas and brothas have fallen into.
Some of the comments from people on this video are too funny. If you listen and comprehend what she is saying, then maybe you would see that she is being sarcastic. Listen, take the shit outta your ears and get your head from in between that crack and LEARN somethinggggg....but everyone isn't "me".
@ sugarfree I don't remember you being so proper in your video lol . It seems as though you've changed your tune lol . Anyway if you feel better about your self for classifyiing your self as black go ahead . I just don't think it's right to drag mixed people who are proud to be mixed down with you . : ) have a great day .
@mochamami916 may i inquire how i am dragging anyone down? if people are secure in themselves, and happy with who they are, then they technically shouldn't care what i say, because it doesn't apply to them, right? also, i am not sure how i "feel better" to classify myself as black... that's the only term that i was ever told i was from birth by my parents, so, hey, it's how i define myself. besides, my BA dissertation was on "biracial" children; even even that term is based upon perspective...
@SugarFreeTV do you mean not being labelled a rebone or light skin or high yella
or if you were dark complexion being called chocolate etc see where im going with this.
you dont see these labels on any other race may asians etc but our race makes it so public
and think it something to be proud of. proud of the fact we treat ignorance like an everyday situation this is not right so many died for our generation to be free and it saddens me so much, like spitting on martin luther kings grave.
This is very very true,Goddess, some fairer skinned women have auto initiated me into their club w/o even knowing me, walk up & see a deeper brown sister and begin railing her & are highly offended when I CHECK them right quick. This is ONE HUGE reason I withdrew my alum membership with AKA- ONE LOVE ONE FAMILY- KEEP PREACHIN'
THIS SERIES IS LEGENDARY! I am a light skinned gay boy and this series has just been...just so legendary and insightful. I've watched it several times and I have the UTMOST respect for you. Especially teaching all these childrens about these issues hunty! YASSSS! Thank you sooo much. Do you recommend any books on ethnic studies/issues of colorism within the black community or gay community etc? I assume you majored or minored in ethnic studies while in college? MAADDD respect. LOVE YOU GUURLL.
people are so stupid still worrying about skintone seriously, i'm white and i have porcelain skin you know white then white....paler then pale and who cares..its just a skintone.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Your ass is outta the club !!!! hahaah and dont ask to come back in. Your light, yeah and you should be happy. Shut up! Your so fake for this video , I swear.
@mochamami916 "'you're' so fake for this video"... contractions versus posessive pronouns... 1st grade grammar... "i'm" more worried about "your" grammar than our skin tone disparities and what not at this time, madamme.
I found your video to be very interesting despite what most of the people who commented thought. And you made some very interesting points. Some of which I have experienced 1st hand. Great video !
Get passed this shit yall. Ssssallready a new day. wake up. Spirit aint waitin fa dat ass!!!!!!!Snap!!!!!! movin wit or widoutcha! Peace and Blessings.
@Indupative thanks for the original thought. manly meaning what exactly? as far as gender is concerned i'm not manly at all; however, perhaps you are confused about my sex - this is an entirely different subject, to which the human eye could not discern, given the "GENDER" complex often imposed from one upon another. get me?
@SugarFreeTV my frame of mind was sisters that take the man's role.... you just a little hardcore, that's all Im saying... not that you look like a man, you just place yourself in the man's role with your speech... Idk wtf Succeed06 was talkn bout.
You don't look light skinned to me. Look at my skin. Now that is light. If you looked me up you will see. But, um you aren't even close to light skinned you brown. Alot of this girls be thinking they light skinned and they really aren't. What's up with that???
@yesenia30ful You have a lot of light shining on your face and she doesn't - different lighting. Light skin can be perceived in different ways, from being white, yellow, red and light brown. Hell even dark skinned Ethiopians get called light, because they are lighter than darker black people. If you said that you are light skinned to a white person, they would laugh because they are lighter than you.
@yesenia30ful - I don't know where you're from, but in the Black community (any where in the world), this woman is undeniably light-skinned (and there are different shades of light skin in our community, just like their are different shades of dark skin). And that is that context that she is speaking from.
@kaylon80 in "OUR" community? THIS WOMAN IN THIS VIDEO IS NOT A BLACK WOMAN. Black women are DARK SKIN AND CARAMEL. that is it! NO AFRICA IS YELLOW. NONE. and "our"? the prejudice faced by black women is CAUSED BY PREJUDICE LIGHT PEOPLE WHO ARE JEALOUS OF THEM AND WANT TO BE IN THEIR CULTURE. these same women are rejected by whites and promoted by swamp monsters like lil wayne. SELF HATE IS SOME SHIT. this isnt OUR COMMUNITY, this is MY RACE. DARK SKIN IS AFRICA BITCH! DARK SKIN IS BLACK CULTUR
@AllthingsSweet22 : You're right, self hate is some shit. And so is hatred within OUR community based on skin color. We are all Black, no matter what shade. And caramel? There are people in this world that don't even consider that to be Black. It's all relative. Who died and made you the racial police? You don't determine what race I or any other so called "light skinned" black person is. Let me give you a fact - we all come from Black Africans, brought over on the same boats. Get a clue.
@kaylon80 BITCH THEIR WERE NO YELLOW AFRICANS BROUGHT ON THAT BOAT. THE LIGHTEST WERE A HIGHER SHADE OF BROWN. no matter how much you desperately try and hold on to something THAT IS NOT YOU, it wont work. THIS IS MY HERITAGE ALWAYS HAVE BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE. that is why all you hoes have to be thick, BECAUSE OUR CURVES COME NATURALLY WHERE AS, just like white women, YOU HAVE TO BUY IT OR TRY HARDER. LIGHT SKIN IS NOT BLACK. dont you ever disrespect my race again.
@AllthingsSweet22: I never said there were yellow Africans on those boats. But my ancestors were Black Africans. Do you think I would deny them because some white men decided it was okay to rape my grandmothers? Race is a sociopolitical concept and in the U.S. light and dark has ALWAYS been considered Black. Rosa Parks was light, but didn't they tell her to get her ass on the back of that bus? Obviously, whatever pain you have inside has warped your mind to the level of idiot. Good luck.
@kaylon80 You are very smart. Race does NOT exist. People don't realize that black is considered inferior on the racial social concept scale. Just look at the one drop rule. So called blacks need to realize that being called black is a bad thing.
Black people are not inferior or bad. But using the term "black" in a system that is opressing them is bad.
@chsn09 maybe you are right about the term "black". "african american" is no better. the peoples from the sub saharan region have what we would call features dominant to the african climate. I dont call them "negriod" but that is what EUROPEANS are calling these "african climate features". "black is considered inferior on the racial social concept scale", by WHO? WHITES? not surprised. BIRACIALS? not surprised. SELF HATING LIGHT SKIN PEOPLE? not surprised. if race doesnt exist, SOCIETY DOESNT.
@chsn09 SOCIETY ITSELF IS A MAN MADE THING. the world was not born with rules and laws. what i should say is SOCIETY'S BELIEFS ARE MAN MADE CONSTRUCTIONS. morals and beliefs are embedded in children through enculturation and varies by culture. CULTURAL RELATIVISM?! the american culture is dominated by white europeans. @eric512140 "and you need to respect that"? faggot boy please. ahahah you are not BLACK, THE WOMAN IN THIS VIDEO IS NOT BLACK, AND LIGHT SKIN PEOPLE ARE NOT BLACK. I am a scholar and ILL gladly show you WHY YOU ARE NOT APART OF MY HERITAGE. DARK SKIN IS THE EPITOME OF BLACK CULTURE BITCH!! BLACK WOMEN ARE CHOCOLATE AND CARAMEL. no yellow africans. NOT ONE.
@AllthingsSweet22 okay i'm going to at least stop you from terrorizing people on my channel. it's not necessary. if you are confident in your point, then there is no need for the constant self-defense rooted in anger (or so i perceive it given the all caps lock and derogatory references to "bitch"). if your point is based on fact, then no need to defend it, because the truth doesn't change. you've made your point, and if it is true, then be happy you've done your part in educating the public.
@SugarFreeTV It's your channel and it's no excuse for the explicitness of the paragraphs, BUT IT IS A FACT. We would not have this problem if people ACKNOWLEDGED THIS TRUTH.
@AllthingsSweet22 My little brother's dad is from congo. His sisters are yellow. And they are PURE BLOODED AFRICANS. One of my brother's sisters is light skinned and she is a PURE BLOODED AFRICAN also. So don't say none of them are yellow. They come in different shades. Fyi they will argue your ass down if you try to tell them they are something else. They're African.

Misconception

as a light skinned black man (both parents black), i love all shades of black women..ALL!! from the deep dark skin, to the mocha skinned, to the "hi-yello", to the light skinned.

Some light skinned women are not like that. Thats the stereotype. But us light skinned women get it rough because of our color. We are all not what everyone seems. Its not our fault that this is the way God made us. Its not our fault that men might view us attractive over the other. Has anyone ever thought that this may be the reason why we stick together? It hurts when we get treated wrong by dark skinned women because of others shallow preferences. It hurts.

Wtf? What ignorant, brain-washed people there are these days.
crazy4corbinbleux 4 months ago
@crazy4corbinbleux
APGifts 2 months ago
@APGifts All I was pointing out in my last comment was that the claim "true Africans are dark skin" is pure IGNORANCE. Who ever believes that is a confused soul who needs to do some soul searching. Africa is a CONTINENT. Not a COUNTRY. There are 52 different countries and thousands of distinct ethnic groups, you can't expect us all to look the same.

I feel where you're coming from, but this is not an African American Issue only. As a Black Hispanic man I've been with Hispanic Women and I've been with African American women as well as White American Women. And one thing that I've noticed is that women in this society have huge hang ups when it comes to body image and the way their perceived by others.

Spanish people come from Spain, in Southern Europe. People who come from Spanish-speaking countries are NOT "Spanish" people; a large percentage of them are of Spanish descent, but that doesn't mean they're Spanish people. That'd be the equivalent of calling me British, because I speak English.

THAT'S A LIE !!!!
APGifts 2 months ago
That is NOT the definition of African-American!
The government-based definition of African-American is:
"An ETHNIC (not "race") group composed ONLY of those people who are 'The-Descendants-Of-The-Survivors' of the continental U.S. / antebellum era / chattel-slavery system.
Due to the 'survivors' of this 'system' being of varying 'races/racial-admixtures' -- the African-American Ethnic Group has NO race/color-based "requirement" and it's members can consist of ANY group of 'racial-categories'."

akin242002 8 months ago
Your point that black people are all or mostly mixed regardless if they are light skin or dark skin is so true! According to Mark Shriver's DNA study, the average African American is 78% African, 18.5% European, and 3.5% other (Mostly native American). Also depending on what African tribe you are a descendent from, will determine if you are more likely to be light or dark skin. Ghana people have extremely high levels of melanin, but Igbo people have low levels of melanin (for a West African).
akin242002 8 months ago
Mark Shriver's 'study' was PROVEN to have been published prematurely & no other geneticist has matched the prematurely-published results of his very limited 'study'.
The studies by Dr. Luigo Cavelli-Sforza (Executive Director of the Human Genome Project & The World's Foremost Authority in the field of Human Genetics) on the Ethnic group now referred to by the misnomer of 'African-American' have been validated by geneticists worldwide.
Dr. Cavelli-Sforza's studies are regularly featured on PBS.
APGifts 2 months ago
APGifts 2 months ago
@APGifts Good post. I've heard of this study. Thanks for breaking it down. I'm going to research further. Most American black people have the idea because they're dark skinned or even brown skinned ... that they must be 100% black. When the truth is a person who may have light skin could actually have more true black/African/Hebrew blood than a dark skinned person. (I mentioned Hebrew blood bcuz the ancient Hebrews were black...read 'From Babylon to Timbuktu' by Rudolph Windsor).

Guys would hit on me just because they thought that I was an "exotic mixture of different races" but as soon as they found out I was "all Black" they wanted nothing to do with me... And I think one of the hardest part about being Light-skinned is not being accepted by your own people... smh..
Elovelyagain 10 months ago
oh, also, i liked how you spoke, but werent rude or condesending.

: ) have a great day .
mochamami916 1 year ago

What's up with that???
yesenia30ful 1 year ago
@yesenia30ful You have a lot of light shining on your face and she doesn't - different lighting. Light skin can be perceived in different ways, from being white, yellow, red and light brown. Hell even dark skinned Ethiopians get called light, because they are lighter than darker black people. If you said that you are light skinned to a white person, they would laugh because they are lighter than you.
Relina83 1 year ago
@yesenia30ful - I don't know where you're from, but in the Black community (any where in the world), this woman is undeniably light-skinned (and there are different shades of light skin in our community, just like their are different shades of dark skin). And that is that context that she is speaking from.
kaylon80 1 year ago
AllthingsSweet22 1 year ago
@AllthingsSweet22 : You're right, self hate is some shit. And so is hatred within OUR community based on skin color. We are all Black, no matter what shade. And caramel? There are people in this world that don't even consider that to be Black. It's all relative. Who died and made you the racial police? You don't determine what race I or any other so called "light skinned" black person is. Let me give you a fact - we all come from Black Africans, brought over on the same boats. Get a clue.
kaylon80 1 year ago
AllthingsSweet22 1 year ago
@AllthingsSweet22: I never said there were yellow Africans on those boats. But my ancestors were Black Africans. Do you think I would deny them because some white men decided it was okay to rape my grandmothers? Race is a sociopolitical concept and in the U.S. light and dark has ALWAYS been considered Black. Rosa Parks was light, but didn't they tell her to get her ass on the back of that bus? Obviously, whatever pain you have inside has warped your mind to the level of idiot. Good luck.
kaylon80 1 year ago
@kaylon80 You are very smart. Race does NOT exist. People don't realize that black is considered inferior on the racial social concept scale. Just look at the one drop rule. So called blacks need to realize that being called black is a bad thing.
Black people are not inferior or bad. But using the term "black" in a system that is opressing them is bad.
Just saying
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09 maybe you are right about the term "black". "african american" is no better. the peoples from the sub saharan region have what we would call features dominant to the african climate. I dont call them "negriod" but that is what EUROPEANS are calling these "african climate features". "black is considered inferior on the racial social concept scale", by WHO? WHITES? not surprised. BIRACIALS? not surprised. SELF HATING LIGHT SKIN PEOPLE? not surprised. if race doesnt exist, SOCIETY DOESNT.
AllthingsSweet22 1 year ago
@chsn09 SOCIETY ITSELF IS A MAN MADE THING. the world was not born with rules and laws. what i should say is SOCIETY'S BELIEFS ARE MAN MADE CONSTRUCTIONS. morals and beliefs are embedded in children through enculturation and varies by culture. CULTURAL RELATIVISM?! the american culture is dominated by white europeans. THEIR standard is blonde with blue eyes it SEEMS. even that is STUPID TO SAY AND ASSUME. people claim light skin people benefit from the EUROPEAN STANDARD in JOBS and daily life.
AllthingsSweet22 1 year ago
@AllthingsSweet22 You need to study your history better.

@AllthingsSweet22 You are ignorant and full of strife. She is free to identify as she wishes to just as you are free to. She identifies as a black woman, and you need to respect that.
eric512140 1 year ago
NOT ONE.
AllthingsSweet22 1 year ago
@AllthingsSweet22 okay i'm going to at least stop you from terrorizing people on my channel. it's not necessary. if you are confident in your point, then there is no need for the constant self-defense rooted in anger (or so i perceive it given the all caps lock and derogatory references to "bitch"). if your point is based on fact, then no need to defend it, because the truth doesn't change. you've made your point, and if it is true, then be happy you've done your part in educating the public.
SugarFreeTV 1 year ago
