@nico2710 Yes that is really bad, Mexicos murder rate is very high and Mexico now has a higher murder rate then Brazil, Brazils murder rate is 24 per 100,000. The reason why Mexicos murder rate has gone way up is because of the all out war that the Mexican government has launched against the drug cartels, the drug cartels have become alot more violent and the drug cartels have been killing alot more people and that has resulted in Mexicos murder rate going way up.

Well, this video mentioned some of the main features of crime and police corruption, but is quite misleading... the city is widespread on two different States: The DF and the State of Mexico... the video shows the DF, which is far more safe than the State of Mexico... for instance, I live in the area shown between 0:54 and 1:11... believe me, this is one the safest neighborhoods in DF nowadays... I've just got out yesterday at 3:00 AM for riding a taxi to the airport.

I was thinking about all of the retirement communities for foreigners that they have in Mexico, where a lot of Americans live. Yes, in the U.S. but this is Mexico. Many of the criminals there are armed with military weapons and they aren't afraid of the cops. In Mexico last year 200 cops were killed.

Even though Detroit is dangerous there is still law and order, but in Mexico there is barely law and order and it's so bad that the military patrols the streets of a lot of Mexican cities. The drug cartels in Mexico are a national security threat there and may overthrow the government there.

Seriously, ive always thought that. Put all the laws USA has and their politicians in place of all the Mexican officials and chances are more than likely that it will be a better region. People will no longer have to migrate and everyone will get paid better b/c of the USA laws like min. wage, etc. Is that really a bad idea? Sure the culture of the region will stay the same, the flag, the music, etc but the gov't is shit anyways so just discard it. Im Mexican by the way :) Viva Amerexico!!!

Its not all about the crime, its about there being a no middle class, a horrible distribution of wealth and services and the overall life experience SUCKS for most people. I can't go and enjoy myself in Mexico with out feeling guilty when I go visit family and friends. Sure they get by but it can be way better considering the country is one of the richest in the world. Top 5. and with the richest man in the world in it too which pays his employees crap.
