We paid 140 dollars for tickets in Laytonville last summer . I asked several people if they paid the exuberant amout to get in and they said no . I asked how they got their bands around their wrist and they said they knew people . I love Kate Wolf but this is a commercialized attempt to exploitation , in my opinion . When Kate was alive how much was it for tickets ? I didn't even discover her music until she was in spirit world . I don't believe Max is doing this . Then who is profiting ?
Just thought I'd try to clarify some things about the Kate Wolf festival, since this persons comment is very misleading. The person who you should be thanking for even trying to -HAVE- the festival at all is Wavy Gravy, who was best friends with Kate, and who owns the property up in Laytonville, around 200 acres in the Mendocino foothills. This property has been a commune by the name of The Hog Farm for over 40 years now, doing so much good for the local community, hard to describe.
@kolaski33 cont... Also to clarify, the festival is 3 days, 40 bands, and includes camping. For 140$. Tried buying a High Sierra ticket lately? Also of note, Wavy Gravy puts on Camp Winnarainbow at that property -multiple- sessions in the summer, teaching circus magic and performance art to kids. And yes, since this property has been in the Grateful Dead family for 40 yrs, some dreadlocked people are going to be getting in free. So yeah Camp Winnarainbow is profiting. Get over yourself.
Oh my God . . . I haven't heard Kate's voice in too long, it raised goosebumps and tears. There is nothing like her voice or her version of her song. Anyone who sings this song should listen a million times and hear it completely.
Kate Wolf was one of the finest songwriters of the new folk genre. And this is perhaps my favorite of all her works. Yes, there are better voices out there but those are easy to find, not so great songwriters.
I think it's a very well put video. love all the scenes, really touching. But I really don't like the song. I think the audio really makes a huge difference.

Ira, you are correct. She, my sister, wrote this song the night before a friend's wedding. I'll see you in Laytonville next summer!

Kate Wolf is great. Not so great is Rhino Records. Some Albums they dont have on their catalog. Better was the Kaleidoscope Company
