This song is about how although it hurt him as a child he has grown up and chosen to be a better person and hasn't let it effect him. 'disarm you with a smile' is one of my favourite lyrics of all time. just the idea of a little boy trying to disarm his abuser by smiling at them is beautiful and heart breaking.
