@rabbitfourone There's the Extended Universe (novels etc.) that explains this stuff.

1) Endor was apparently fine.

2) The fleet was left without a commander and eventually retreated.

3) The rest of the Empire fell to infighting.

4) Yes. The Emperor had numerous clone bodies to force-move his spirit to in the event of his death, so he never gave any thought to succession. Though thought dead at Endor, he returned six years later to fight again before being permanently killed .

The one thing that has never been explained- what does 'bringing balance to the force' actually mean? Was it out of balance before with 2 Sith and how many hundred Jedi? If so then perhaps he really *did* bring balance by killing all the Jedi and the other Sith (the Emperor).

@gilesderoet Well, i read at wookieepedia that the Jedi believe the dark side taints and unbalances the Force. So "balance to the force" would mean destroying the Sith, which have secretly getting stronger and stronger and bringing the Force out of balance. Note that George Lucas has mentioned as far as he is concerned the SW story ends after ep-6, so the emperor being resurrected and new dark-side users popping up is something you must ignore for the balance thing to make sense.

Honestly I know a lot of people think that Lucas should not have created the first 3 movies but I think they helped tell a whole new story. Before the first 3 came out, I never really felt bad when Vader or Obi won or yoda died, sure I felt bad but never understood why to feel bad. The first 3 told the story of their real personalities, how their early life was and helped you get attached to them and understand them more. And I hope many more star wars movies come out!

I have a question for those Star Wars fans,the battle ends with the desstruction of the Command Ship and the Death Star. What happen to the 2 dozen star destroyers that were waiting outside the battle zone? What did they do? Tuck tail and run away? They outnumbered the Rebel fleet 2 to 1. They should have attacked the rebels, it would have been an easy slaughter for the Empire.

Is it me or do all the heroes have disfunctional families. Luke and Eragon have VERY disfunctional families. Once you think about it Star Wars and Eragon are quite similar in story lines. A young man who never knew his father has to rise up to the task of saving everything from the tyranny of some omnipotent villain with a group of friends and an army that is just a rag-tag group of freedom fighters.

This ending shows just how far Anakin has come since his beginnings. It took him 6 movies, he nearly died...several times, fell to the dark side, nearly destroyed the galaxy he had once sworn to protect, but in the end, when all was said and done, he fufilled his destiny, brought balance to the force, and he died...a hero's death. That scene with Luke always grips my heart. A great way to end a great movie series.

You can all disagree with me, but this is my favorite Star Wars movie!
