You do realize that we owned the gold medal podium, and to the rest of the world that's what counts. ALL countries in Europe and Asia have Canada ranked #1 in their list because of our WINTER OLYMPIC RECORD with 14 golds. Only in Canada and the United States are the rankings calculated according to medal totals and not golds. Own the Podium was a huge success.

Very poor excuse! Canada has simply gotten better over time. More funding and more emphasis on sports- that's all! The favored "Canadian Cowboys" ski team got smoked on the slopes and they literally grew up skiing on that mountain.

If Canada wins the hockey gold today, both Canada and the US will set new records.

Canada would have the record for the most gold medals of 14 by a nation in the Winter Olympics beating out the former Soviet Union.

The US would have 37 medals which would beat Germany's record for the most medals by a single nation in the Winter Olympics.

Both are amazing accomplishments. These Olympics compared to others have been dominated by Canada and the US.

I think canada did extremely well . I still can't believe we will finish with the most GOLD ! 13 right now and if we can solve Miller today it will be 14.....fantastic. A solid 26 medals guaranteed overall. I figured the U.S would win in terms of medals but You have to admit that with just a bit over 1 / 10 the population of the U.S we really placed well. We tied the U.S.S.R in all time gold at an olympics and could break it.

What was borderline? I can recount you much worse things in Salt Lake or in Turin, such as adding new rules, changing marking systems a few weeks prior to the Olympics, having jump starts, disqualifying people for "not setting a good pace in early laps", changing tracks, changing jumps, and so on.

Unless you have some solid backup, and actually have looked at the other Olympics to see what they have done, it behoves you to not come here and be a pompous douchbag.

Belgium's highest peak is 700m and the last 10m is a f* staircase, wow Canada beat a country with no mountains, almost no snow and with an unfair advantage of having more practices and not letting other teams practice as much.

Canadians have finally accomplished SOMETHING, doesn't take long to get full of yourselves.

If you see Canadian Newscast they all praise the athletes who competed that day - whether they won a medal or not. They also praised other countries performances. It's what the Olympics are all about.

I have had the good fortune of meeting quite a few of them here in Vancouver, and all of them have been top notch ambassadors to their countries. I especially liked 2 of the Russian athletes, and 3 Americans that I got to "chill" with...unbelievably wonderful, outgoing and we had a great time :D They left quiet an impression..and I thought there was Russia-US tension..-_-..what happened?

I think the committees/federations responsible for this shameful campaign owe Canada an apology. It's a slap in the face to their Olympians and tacky as the host of the games to run this type of campaign. If they were not hosting, it MIGHT be different. I think it would be enough added pressure on the atheletes that they are competing in their own country as hosts. This campaign essentially bird-dogged them, and it looks really ugly.  I don't think this is representative of Canadians.

To top everything off, we pound the US woman in ice hockey and redeem ourselves by beating the US men's team in OT bitch! The pressure on Canada's hockey teams will be enormous. It will be something special when the first Canadian Olympian wins gold on home soil, and I believe the third time will be the charm.

Norway always amazes me though in the alpine/cross-country.

I wish Canada would put in better Olympic funding for all Olympic athletes rather than hedge their bets on a few and try to predict who will win what medal.
