David Tennant was just dying to be on Doctor Who because he is a huge fan of it since he was a child and was one of the inspirations for him to become an actor.
I don't think he was just trying to spearhead his career.
And while I love other Doctors, including 11, Tennant was an excellent Doctor and I think a lot was brought to it because he was so passionate about the program.
David Tennant, the worst Dr Who of all time. Overacted, gurning, childish, loud, embarrassing and boring. Matt Smith can do no wrong. He's replacing a man I never considered to be Dr Who.
Do right. By the box sets and be quiet. Doctor Who is about an alien, not about the actor. Good Bye David Tennant, Thanks for a good job, now lets move on with the new Doctor Matt Smith. I can't wait!
My fav doc is Tom Jones, then David and I am looking forward to seeing Mat Smith. My fav companion is Rose because she was witty then Donna because she was funny. I love the show I thin the show is amazing and I look forward to more. Ps. Last year was the first time I watched doctor who, and I saw Chris E. first then David. After that I went all the way back to the first doctor!
"And all those people who've had a shout out about how David Tennant should be the Doctor, just buy the boxsets and shut up" XD I agree, I am a big fan of David Tennant but people should give Matt Smith a chance, he hasn't even started yet :@!
I agree, while I liked Tennant, he doesn't make my top 3 list (maybe 5). I enjoyed Eccleston and wished he could've lasted longer. I'm skeptical about the direction the next season will take, not because DT left, but also because RTD and his party have also stepped down. Previews are starting to look a little 'Twilight' influenced in a way.(romantic involvement, etc) but, I will give it a view and see.
I would like to eventually see an older doctor again.
I did see the preview that you put up for the new doctor who and it looks pretty good, I mean I agree they did need a new doctor cause if you have the same guy on over & over its going to get boring and I'm sure people will miss the characters that we have come to meet. But Doctor who has changed and will continue to change. I enjoyed it as tv series and nothing more or less. I hope the new series has lots of action and a good story I enjoyed it so far and will into the future.
David Tenant was a good Doctor. But for the series, I think Chris Eccleston was the hero, not David Tenant. The series was shelved for so long, the BBC really had to think long and hard as to how to sell the series to a new audience, and win back the old audience. The hats, scarves and funny hair were just not new millennium. Eccleston's modern doctor, the leather jacket, no nonsence, butch character, and a bit tough is just what the series needed. Tenant was a bridge back to a traditional DW.
@saintfletcher This would not be possible without Russel T Davies as Eccleston was not a Doctor Who fan, and was dragged in by Davies. This brought in a breath of fresh air, some new dimension in character development. Now that the torch is passed on and Russel T Davies moves on, we can see an even more tradional looking doctor arise. There is something about Matt Smith. I think the show will be going for a younger, even a kid's market now, and the adult viewers will move on to Torchwood.
Personally, I think a slightly odd looking Doctor is a good thing, it adds to the kind of quirkiness of the character.
I thought I was the only one who didn't those reinvented cybermen (which I still refuse to refer to as "proper" cybermen). Thank you!
I do kinda disagree about the companion thing though. I've always felt that Rose was by far the worst companion of the New Series'. She was just generally unlikable.
And my mum certainly liked Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor ;).
