  • @happyhello1000 No. Usually extract contains alcohol, but essence doesn't. Check the label to be sure.

  • I have never even seen something like this, but it looks absolutely delicious! But I wonder if a heart/shaped tin is also good and what the ammount of ingredients will be, or else it will be round, is this ok? And how do you get all the special fruit ingredients, do you make them yourself? cause to be honest i have idea how to do that, and i'm pretty sure we don't have it in stores. Please help, i was planning on baking a cake this afternoon and it might be this one if i'm lucky!:D Ilovedthevid!

  • @ApfelKoekje I buy all the stuff in stores. For a "normal" (round or heart) sized cake use half the amounts of ingredients

  • @TitliNihaan okay thankyou so much, i have made the cake (with the normal amounts of ingredients showing in the video) in a larger round tin and it went really well. It was a lot of fun to do but sadly my frosting wasn't thique but really thin.. and wasn't what it supposed to be, so it tasted real noticable and too much. but i think it still was an succes and it looks lovely, thankyou.

  • Hi Titli, loving your videos, your so warm and funny :) I'm inspired to attempt your carrot cake for a christmas party; could you tell me a few things though?

    1) Dont have an electric mixer, will i get the same results without one?

    2) Dont have a baking tin, I have a GLASS dish, will it work?

    3) Can i leave out the pineapple?

    4) For the icing, when you put in "powdered sugar", whats that? Can i put brown sugar instead?

  • @nehaphukan 1 yes, 2 yes, 3 yes, 4 It's icing sugar or confectioners' sugar. You need it to be powdery so it will mix properly

  • @iChef100 There is normal granulated sugar. Then there is caster sugar which is finer (sometimes called powdered sugar). Then there is icing sugar or confectioner's sugar which is like a dust!

  • Titli, since I believe you still live in France, what brand of cream cheese do you use because I live in a french overseas territory and it's not always easy to find cream cheese apart from mascarpone, which is very costly!

But yes I added some more baking powder, not sure how the cake is going to turn out, its still in the oven might take a little more time than mentioned in the video , But I shall update you with the results.   • @ShreddexReturn No. True extract is a solution in alcohol, while essence is often a sugar-water based solution.

  • Which type of vanilla essence is used in this cake? Often times (at least here in the States), vanilla contains a significant amount of alcohol.

  • Titli, which type of vanilla are you using? Many types of vanilla essence (especially here in the States) often contain between 15 to 35% alcohol, which is not halal...

  • @peeleykeeley Vanilla *essence* is usually a solution of vanilla flavouring with some caramel. Vanilla *extract* usually contains alcohol. You may also be able to find something called "vanilla sugar" which is vanilla flavoured sugar.

  • @TitliNihaan I've never seen that here. We're deprived in New York, in some ways. Plus, vanilla tends to be rather expensive. Do you have any suggestions for an ingredient to use en lieu of the vanilla?

    I have a few questions. I've noticed that a carrot cake recipe typically calls for vegetable oil instead of butter. Is there a special reasons for this, can you use butter instead?

    Also, I've found a recipe that uses cooked and mashed carrots instead of shredded ones. In your opinion, which one should be more moist? Thx.

  • @shyic I think it asks for oil on health grounds. Using that much butter would probably give you a heart attack just by looking at it!

    The nice thing about the grated carrot it that it gives a bit of texture to the cake. Using mashed carrots would still probably be as moist, but you would lose the texture.
