@hitlerscow between 1-2 hour steel will not melt, but after 2 hours and with thousands of gallons of jet fuel......melt. Obtaining a temp of 1500 degrees does not require a chemistry but physics.

The ability for a building to fall into itself is cause by a "pancake" effect. Once the upper levels on the inside fell, the lower levels had no chance of even hindering the rate of fall. Hence the free fall.
