Growing up, Penny was the player i wanted my game to resemble the most.
He had a certain charisma to his game that i don't think a player has had since
It's hard to explain. He was like the perfect combination of being , wirey, brainy, intuitive, and ultra athletic that i've seen in a player.I think he was a really unique talent... before the injuries, of course
I still say.....If Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill for that matter if they weren't struggling with injuries all their career....they would be considerd 2 of the best NBA plyers that have ever played....I strongly feel that
Hold up! Man, you got your comparisons all wrong man. Let me ask, how old are you? You're probably too young to remember Magic in his hey day cause he was so much better than Lebron. You can't compare the two. And to compare Penny with Wade? I don't think so. And you had suggested that Shaq had no other peer? The only reason why Shaq dominated the way he did was because there was no other center. I know its not his fault but if he had to play against Russel, Wilt, Moses, he'd had his lunch eaten
I understand what you mean but I wasn't comparing them. I'm talkin bout all the arguments about kobe and lebron, which ones gonna be the greatest? it happens all the time. always about the flashy dunks and the ankle breaks. thats what basketball is today. so im talkin bout the old days with jordan and magic and penny and stockton, not comparing them
@jbissainthe haha dog u a little to old school russel or moses could not mess with shaq maybe wilt and lebron is going to be a better player than magic
@aztec6543, I'm a little too old school? Come on man? I was born in 1973 so I did not see Russell play but I did see Moses play. And let me tell you something, Moses dominated! A lot of folks, players, coaches and GM's around the league use to say that he was by far the toughest match up of any player. You see, some of the younger cats these days don't know their history. I'm serious! Trust me, watch an old NBA broadcast of the 80's and you will see what I'm taking about.
@jbissainthe : I don't know what you mean by saying "there were no other centers". David Robinson, Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon. Three of the top 50 greatest players of all time according to the NBA at 50. Alonzo Mourning and Dekembe Mutombo weren't bad either, mate.
@Deeppack, well let me clarify what I was trying to say; I did not make my point clear enough. What I was trying to say is that by the time Shaq entered the 2000's, he had no peer. He's good, no doubt but he dominated cause he was the only really true center that the NBA had at that the time. So, he dominated more or less by default. As far as the other folks you made mentioned (Ewing, Olajuwon and Robinson those centers always dominated Shaq. They ate his lunch! He got his ass handed to him.
@Deeppack , Shaq is one of the greats, no doubt but if you take his prime and you were to match him up with the other centers in the league at their primes, there's no argument: Those centers were better, better skilled. Shaq had the power but the others were better ball handlers, shooters (especially from the high post), rebounders and defenders (Shaq was an average defender at best).
@memphisblues78 If he was better than Rose...why he didn't lead his team to the championship game as a freshman??? He couldn't because he was good enough! Get off Penny's dick!
the pass at 1:42 was one of the best passes i have ever seen. He went behind the back on a dribble and then straight into a behind the back pass to a guy that wasn't even completely wide open ! WTF.
Ive never seen it before either so thanks for the putting the video up

If he wouldn't have needed microfracture surgery on his knee, I think he would've been a top 10 player of all time.

Is it crazy to say when Penny was in Orlando, despite the jersey number, he reminded you of Tracy McGrady when he was a Magic?

In fact, T-Mac had Penny as his favourite player.
