you know I dis agree with what the person who uploaded this video said in the description about the m-7. Personally I think the design of the M-7 is quite modern and sleek. I wish they had a train like this in So Cal.
I never said it wasn't modern or sleek. Although I don't agree with 'sleek', but they are still ugly and design failures, whether you like them or not. I mean there is something to be said for the fact that they now make up about 60% of the H&H fleet, but simultaneously they are riddled with problems like the fact that they draw WAY more power then their specs called for and thus they cannot operate in trains of more then 8 cars, which in the NY Metro market IS something important..
im sorry but i am tired of people saying that m7s are shitbags or are full of bull shit. Watch my language. Personally, I think nothing wrong of the m7s. I mean, atleast we got something almost new( 6 years ago) running on the harlem and new haven lines. When i go on the m7s, it is a nice, smooth and quick ride. Not many passengers. My two favorite metro north trains are the m7s, and the genesis locomotive that pulls the shoreliner coaches
well everyone is entitled to an opinion no matter how ridiculous it is... :-) If 'every time you ride M7As its smooth and quick' you obviously don't ride them much. They can never be as fast as other existing MN equip as the minimum is 11-seconds to cycle doors. M1/M3 equip its about 2.5 seconds, bombs its about 4-5. Smooth - not with the predisposition to flat spots and rough end bolsters.... I mean I hope you have been so lucky to always get a smooth ride but thats NOT the common occurance.
@nhlives I've rode on these cars countless times and I can tell you, these are some of the best cars NYC could have bought. Nothings perfect and I understand that but something is better than nothing. Would you rather the MTA continue to operate old cars past their retirement age or something fresh and new?
I'm not going to sit by and hope and dream that old cars should run forever, renewal is inevitable, but with that said, ir doesn't mean that if you replace a Cadillac with a Hyundai..... These new cars are simply not well built and definately not well engineered. AND, I can't blame all of that on Bombardier (the builder), much of that blame lies with the MTA and their procurement process, which is deserving of MUCH (non-political) criticism......
