I have the Nook Tablet and absolutely love it.  it is rooted and I have both the amazon app store and the Android market. with the sd card option it was a winner for me.

To be honest, for my birthday im getting the nook because alot of people in my family, including me, have all had different types of kindles, such a the regular white one and the kindle fire, and we've all had problems with them. Mine would freeze up and wouldnt do anything and then would shut down and not turn up. Its still frozen, when it last froze four months ago. Similar things happened to my family members, and a bunch of my friends have the nook and they all love it and have no problems

Well, im not an amazon prime member but am a B&N member and the price of the nook has gone down, some of the things on the nook make up for some the other things, also a nook can be rooted to have a more extensive selection of apps, like i play alot of LEGO video games on the nook from streaming from OnLive. I favor the nook but mostly because of the physical features and that i dont need to be a member.

nook tablet because it has a better battery life, better video playing, support for micro sd card, i can sideload android apps without rooting it, it supports epub format. i don't use amazon for anything so ... i live abroad, i need an american address in order to have a bn account and be able to download the apps...same with amazon...sucks ass.

Half the RAM, weaker vid playback and no mem expansion. On top of that both run android, thus will open same apps. Anybody with google can figure out how to accomplish this on the nook. I think nook wins hands down.

Personally, I choose the Nook tablet because of having a Nook color previously and being used to B&N's UI. I also have an account with B&N that I use often.

I have both as well an I agree that while the Kindle fire has an easier-to-use UI, the Nook tablet has better video quality. I have also found that the Nook tablet has better text rendering than the Kindle fire. Nevertheless, those who are on a budget should definitely go for the Kindle fire and they aren't exactly missing out on features like the microphone.

It's not just Barnes and Noble. You can also download school books onto the Nook and expand memory up to 32 GB.

here's one very important reason that people over look why the nook tab. is better the customer service if you have a problem with of your nook. you can bring it to any barnes & noble and get help even if it is not the barnes & noble you got it from. and with kindle fire yeah it looks nice but are there any amazon stores that you know of so when you have problems what do you do where do you go would you have to ship the device back to fix problems or are you sol. and rooted there about the same

Nook is so much better that the kindle.....the stupid differences like not a movie and tv store and very limited apps isn't that big of a deal. Barnes and Noble will most likely In their next tablet or in a software update sometime soon, they will add those features! book is a better tablet, better screen and overall a better company. The fluency of the tablet is better than the kindle and the noon comes out on top.

I hate that the Kindle Fire doesn't have a home button! It's so annoying when you're playing a game and that virtual home button is on the bottom of the screen. But becides that, the Kindle Fire is way better!

The tablet has much better specs, can be rooted much easier due to the micro-sd slot, so you can can have almost unlimited use of the Android Market. But then again, with a new 7-in. tablet from Asus for $249, with a quad core tegra 3 chip and ICS, Who needs the nook or fire?

I chose the nook because it got better reviews as an e-reader, faster web browser and better quality video viewing for my grandson's sesame street songs. I WAS going to get the kindle, but then the early reviews all mentioned no password protection for buying anything on amazon. That was the final deal breaker for me. I am not interested in apps. I have a computer for that. The other downside for me with the kindle is the necessity of a wi-fi connection to access the cloud.

The only problem with the kindle is that if you pre-ordered it, sometimes it won't turn on. I contacted Customer Service, and we found that i had a defective AC adapter. Any Mini USB adapter will work.

@mexican10137 The kindle runs .apk files, which means you can get apps not available in the Kindle appstore, along with the ability to change the interface, and access to the entire Android market. Go to 4shared to look through the apps that you might want besides the ones in the store.
