Oh my fucking god. This is Ken Lee all over again. There is no difference.
This cover does NOT do justice to the song. Come on! At least put some effort into it. At least try to learn the lyrics, At least try to find out what language it is!
Listening to this indifferent American voice butchering a song with dark poetic lyrics into these bits and pieces of indiscernible guttural sounds is torture. Have you got no shame?
Oh god why does this have so many thumbs up? Oh god. This is just insane...
Must say, I love Sigur Ros and really don't like Thursday at all, but this cover is really rather impressive, Sigur Ros is not at all easy to cover, and they rose to the challenge rather well....
it's a pretty good cover of this song, one of my favorites from Ágætis Byjrun. but it sounds like they guessed on some of the lines, especially the last few.
yeah it's kinda hard to sing in a song in a language you're unfamiliar with but you might want to look up the lyrics first.
to be honest this is actually one of my favorite songs by Thursday. Maybe it's partially because I love Sigur Ros as well, and how post-hardcore and post-rock are like two of my favorite genres, I love Thursday for doing this cover, Thursday did a beautiful cover, mixing post-rock with post-hardcore, it's amazing :')
@Bechaz123 THIS IS NOT ICELANDIC. Period. It's an auditory impression of what he thinks it sounds like. There are no lyrics. There is no meaning. By all means this is complete horseshit.
This is exactly what it sounds like to people who understand Icelandic:
Someone posted that the original song is not in icelandic and that it is sung in the hopelandic gibberish language, and I was correcting them. This cover, however, fails at the pronunciation, I agree.
@ploothable I'm confused, I thought we agreed? The original song by Sigur Rós is in perfectly good icelandic, icelandic being Sigur Rós' first language. I absolutely love the original, and I'm completely with you, this cover tries its hardest... but just seems half assed in the pronunciation, no research into it, he just sang what he heard after 4 listens. When I said "this one is definitely in icelandic", i meant Sigur Rós' original is definitely sung in icelandic.
Being a huge Sigur Ros fan, I'm pretty bias because I think all Sigur Ros covers suck because I'm always comparing them to the original. :p But this one isn't bad and I do like this WAY more than I like We Are Scientist's cover of Hoppipolla.
@iskimvb Being a Sigur Ros fan, the only albums to contain Hopelandic are Von and ( ), ( ) being sung in "hopelandic". This song is off Agaetis Byrjun, which imo really kicked off their career....
I like the cover, it's an interesting take on Sigur Ros's song. I'm surprise that Thursday covered them, but then again, it makes sense. Geoff seems like the type of person that would listen to them.
Not sure what you're asking. I think Sigur Ros is an icelandic band, I'm not sure. The song itself was a bonus track on the Japanese version of War All the Time, though.
I ripped this song off of a comp years back, heard it in the background of a home video, luckily found it again to re download!!!

The language is called Hoplandic, the singer of Sigur Ros, Jonsi, created it, its has elements of Icelandic in it though

this is a extremely hard song to cover and i think they did a great job
breedingthespawn 5 months ago
This is a pretty good effort. They've managed to capture most of the depressing vibe, whilst also putting their own spin on it.

They did a good job. It's hard to cover Sigur Rós.

@Bechaz123 Okay, let's just agree to disagree. It was clearly an attempt at Icelandic, but it never quite got there...

@Froggenell Olsen Olsen off Agaetis Byrjun is entirely in Hopelandic, as are some tracks on Takk. I'm not sure about the latest one.

Sigur Ros should cover Understanding in a Car Crash! Both bands own. It is only the Japanese bonus track, but a pretty valiant attempt.
