  • Gad dang. Crazy sampling.

  • Nobody knows what they're saying at beginning.

  • anyone know what it says at the minute 0:18 - 0:25 ??

  • At 2:55: The Great Louis Johnson shows he's funky plug'n thumbing master skills

  • said IIIIIIIIIIII, feel so good make me wanna wiggle!

  • they really capitalized on the best part of this song when they sampled it

  • Does Justice credit the samples from this tune in the liner notes? Just curious.

  • @bssb1979 nope, no proof of that on my CD sleeve

  • @wreck93 Yes there is, it's on my CD.

  • @huggybear4sh your mum

  • @wreck93 They don't have to credit samples but it's there. Wikipedia: "There are three credited samples present on the album: "You Make Me Wanna Wiggle" by The Brothers Johnson was sampled for "Newjack","

  • @bssb1979 they do

  • hahaha. the guy on the right on 0:19

  • Justice - Newjack (2007)

  • gets REAL nasty at 2:10...

  • this is good walking music.

  • @mattratt512 You also mu

  • @mattratt512 at 2:55 this when they start funkin it up all the way to the end awsome!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is good walking music.

  • this song is so good i cannot help but smile like a maniac every time im listening to it

  • To me, New Jack hasn't been effeciantly using the Bros sample, it's not like in Daft Punk's Discovery where it's impossible to hear the sample straight up.

New Jack is this same song with effects and a couple add ons

  • @Steffouf

Sorry, but superheroes you can directly hear the sample. Same with the sample in Harder,Better,Faster,Stronger.

  • @Steffouf You guys also missed out Cresendolls.

  • No.

  • uh.... no

  • @Steffouf its not quite as simple as " effects and a couple add ons".. this is exactly the way filterhouse has always been produced, Daft punk especially... they are actually more obvious with 90% of theirs than Justice is. watch:

    watch?v=MJPdVVOmbz4

  • @FakeCup actually it is quite as simple as effects and add ons. all justice have done is layered distorted sythn lines then fed them through a sampler and then chopped it to bits. after that theyve 360 stereo panned the track turning it on its head panned to the middle to bring out the original songs effects and used them.

  • @Steffouf Disagree completely, Daft Punk's samples sound practically the same as the original song, just with small chances.

  • @Steffouf WWWhhhhaatt ? oh come on ..

  • @Steffouf you are crazy LOL "Discovery" is shameless when put next to "Cross", the samples in cross are way more clever worked than in discovery. No discussion, you can say "Yeah justice sampled this, but wait just 5 seconds..", when you hear Daft Punk, you say "Omg, genius sample, but sounds the same the all song, just with some filters and edits". Gotta admit that Daft Punk started this sampling fever, but don't do it better than Justice.

  • @Katrapo not a fair comparison at all given the gear that exists today vs. then. they were using hardware samplers with limited capacity vs. a modern computer.

  • @zerojake EXACTLY..of course its going to have a hard job being anything like what justice has made it into cos its from the 70's!! , but this song inspired them

  • very funky

  • This guys played the actual instruments. Period.

  • And Justice made entirely new music out of their playing. What's your point?

  • REMINDS ME OF STANDING ON THE VERGE

  • Gosh, get over it guys. Newjack wouldn't exist without Brothers Johnson.

Also, Newjack IS NOT a remix of this. Newjack is a track by Justice inspired by the old Daft Punk Discovery-era taking a sample and making it your own kind of thing.

  • I really like this a lot.

BUT... i know everyones already said this

but they fucken RULE over this track =]

  • OMG sorry but it originaly kinda sucked, Justice made it sound better !

  • no point in dissing original tracks, if justice liked the song enough to sample it, it's probably because it's an awesome song

  • I'm not dissing it, i just say that New Jack sounds better to my ears.

Plus I believe that you're wrong DJ's don't only take good tracks to make great remixes, sometimes their job is to enhance the original sound, cuz sampling something that is originaly good is too easy !

  • @LindtLover

"it originally kinda sucked..." Sounds like a diss to me.

  • New Jackkkkkkk

  • JUSTICE OWNS

  • This is by far their best electric Guitar work, here that thing wail something fierce, with total melody

  • Brothers Johnson is my favorite but,"Brick " is also very funky.

  • To even dare to compare this Funk masterpiece by the dynamic duo to a track which stole from the original is just something I can't comprehend... But to each his own...

In the meantime I am going to go back to my vinyl and play this one... L.O.U.D.!!!

  • come on man....they killled it tho.....

    now stomp...?

    thats another matter all together

  • Brothers Johnson = Most Funky/Soulful

  • ..With the killer Quincy horn charts!!!!

  • great song, I do prefer new jack though.

  • awesome song, awesome sampling. I need to get into more of this shit, I usually skip the late 70s when I shop for records but this is positively funky.

  • where would the french be without disco and boogie???

  • i think you mean where would French House be?

  • These guys are out of control

  • anyone know what year this is?

    please tell me!?

  • 1980

  • the bass slap is vicious, and I find it hard to see who is the best, either the bass player here or the bass player from Slave?

  • FUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUNK FUNK FUNK FUNK!!

  • FUNK FUNK FUNK FUNK FUNK...?

  • haha this song is even better than the justice version hahaaaa

  • no one knows wtf they're saying even in this original? i always wanted to know what they were saying but i can't find the lyrics anywhere

  • 1580 kday in LA used the intro as there jingle..but this song always reminded me of standing on the verge with alil mo riff, I LOVE THE GUITAR WAR thinggy wit one of them being hooked up to the talk box

  • HAHA! got it on vinyl :D FOR A BUCK! w00t!

  • i've wanted to know what the hell they sample in newjack!!

  • I always thought it sounded like "feels so good"! Cool.

  • Why, hello there.

  • I have a theory that Justice heard this and thought, "It sounds like they're saying gibbberish! How about we actually make them say gibberish!"

I honestly can't even understand THIS!

  • You can't? :S

  • From 0:18 to 0:24 is gibberish to me. That first singer can't articulate his words.

  • it's not that he can't, it's that he's not trying to. In addition, sounds like a bass guitar ro something playing the exact same melody as the words to give it that effect.

  • It's sounds like he's using a talk box. Damn you, talk box! You make the words inconceivable!

  • I don't think it's a talkbox. It may be, but I really don't think it is.

  • Either that or some sort of messed up wah. Still sounds like a talk box.

  • Actually, the theory that Justice had for this song was...

"This song is cool, lets turn it into an incredibly amazing french house song"

  • great song, so many superb artists came out of this genre its unreal. Any budding disco music makers who dig this shizzle check out zero g's 'sounds of the 70's' plugin, its got shedloads of sounds like this, instant justice/daft punk house. nice.

  • This LP was years ahead of everything.Put Brother´s with Quincy together and you have a touch of Heaven.

  • They basically just cut it up and extended the notes so it didnt sound like words aymore.

  • Blecchh! What do you mean with LOL? In my languitch they call songs like Newjack "machine music"!

  • This is totally awesome. It makes me wanna wiggle.

  • awesome!

  • This is amazing! Great song. Hidden gem!!!!

I don't like the short intro but I love the rest of the song. Such an amazing sound!

  • wow. awesome

  • Quite nice song. No wonder Justice wanted to make disco version!

  • This IS the disco version

  • I mean the machine music version.

  • LOL

    "machine music version" XD

  • ¬¬

  • Shine just like a star!!!!

    Great song! Lead is Awesome!
