I first heard this song when I was 17 yrs old. I like it very much. But the version I heard was another. Some verses even mentioned Herbert Hoover. That version also appears in the soundtrack of Peter Bogdanovich´s Movie "Paper Moon" (starring Ryan O´Neal and his daughter Tatum). it´s a lovely song, and much more heart-lifting if it´s played more allegro.

@alontas The version from the Movie "Paper Moon" is by Enric Madriguera & his Biltmore Hotel Orchestra on a Columbia 2651-D recorded on May 2 1932, the flip side is "LOVABLE" I have the 78 record and it is just AWESOME. I also know several of the folks who were in the movie from Hays Kansas. The Enric Madriguera version is on this channel. Hope this helps!

The flip side is "LOVABLE" and is on Prozoots channel. I have this AWESOME 78 record and it is to die for! The soundtrack album LP has it as well but is very poorly recorded. I know several of the WONDERFUL folks who were in the movie from Hays Kansas and surrounding arias. Enric`s version is on this channel. Hope This helps.
